How do i set up iMessage on my Macbook Pro

How do i set up iMessage on my macbook pro, all it shows is my apple id email address and i've tried 'Adding Email' as my number and it says an email has been sent although i do not recieve a text.
I have no i dea how to set it up!
Please help!

The Original Post was about iMessages from the Mac Messages app.
Now we are talking about two people with an iPhone each.
You seem to be centered on something being amiss with his set up as you have Reset and Erased his iPhone (no info on any restore from any backup).
Can he/could he contact with anyone else before you reset his iPhone ?
Can he contact anyone else now ?
If this person cannot contacts anyone from his iPhone it would seem he has not set up the iPhone correctly.
This may be a simple thing such as not having a Data Contract and therefore having Data Off and not be connected to a Wifi Network either.
It may be more involved such as there being an issue with his Apple ID.
If he removes the Apple ID can he Send from the iPhone Number ?

It sounds like you are running an older version of OS X (probably SnowLeopard). What version of OS X are you running?

If you aren't receiving iMessages on your iPhone, try turning iMessage off and back on with your iPhone and/or sign out of your Apple ID with iMessage on your iPhone followed by logging back in with your Apple ID.
If you aren't receiving text messages - SMS/MMS, you need to contact your carrier.

I am trying to share files on my iMac with my wife's macbook Pro for which I am set up as a second user with administration privileges. I think i have the computers finding each other (for example my iMac shows up on the shared list in my wifes's finder window), but when I try to open a file it says I do not have permission(s). I know I have to mark files on my iMac to allow for sharing. How do I designate a particular user as having permission to share. I only want to be able to share my iMac when I am logged in on my user account on the Macbook Pro (and vise versa, I would like to be able to access the files on the Macbook Pro, when I am logged in as the user on my iMac.

What version of Exchange is your organization using. Mail support Exchange 2007 and later, if they are on an earlier version you are out of luck until they upgrade. If it is on 2007 or later I found this under Mail's help menu:

How do I set up a MacBook Pro running Lion to interface with Starry Night software? My telescope is a Meade LX200GPS with a serial input. I have tried using a Radio Shack USB/Serial adapter which worked when I used a Windows 7 laptop but does not work with my MacBook Pro.

Just started to research this on both this site and on Starry Night .I was hoping to find a driver for the Radio Shack USB Serial Adapter from Apple's site. Radio Shack only has the Windows driver that came with the adapter. Will let you know when I find the right driver. Stay tuned.

I previously backed up my Macbook Pro to my Time Capsule. I am now trying to use the same TC to backup an iMac. However, I get an error saying the "MBP sparsebundle is already in use". I think that is 'cos my iMac is backing up, but I need to know how to resolve this ASAP.

They use separate sparsebundles so the issue is something else.. often with lion there are issues with a device keeping the TC open.. you log into the disk area of the airport utility manual setup, and use disconnect all users.. the backup should then work.

Drive Partition and Format
