How do I set up multiple users with different configurations

I have a Mac Pro that is shared by multiple users. Some edit using Avid Media Composer 6.0, and some edit using Final Cut Pro 7. Our client monitor is connected using a Matrox MX02 Mini. When I install the latest drivers for the Matrox MX02, I can use the client monitor with Media Composer, but not Final Cut Pro 7. When I back-rev the drivers to support Final Cut Pro 7, I can't use the MX02 in Media Composer.
Is there a way to set up two users -- one for Avid editing and one for Final Cut editing -- that will each load different sets of drivers?
Thanks!

Not in one boot system. The only way I can think of doing what you want is to dual-boot - ie, either partition a single drive with two volumes, one for each configuration, or, if you can, use separate physical drives. The Matrox drivers are loaded at the system level, not the user level.
If you have a spare drive, you would just clone your system across using Carbon Copy Cloner / SuperDuper, then boot to the second system and adjust the drivers as necessary.

The iPad mini is basically a one user device. There are no Accounts. You can set up restrictions so that only you can do certain things.

Create separate user accounts for each use. Use Accounts preferences or Users & Groups preferences depending on which version of OS X you are using.

I'm assuming you have the lastet OSX version 10.9 "Mavericks." Here are some useful links from Apple I think will help:

I suspect you have a newer iMac than the pre-2006 models this forum covers (the forum labels are unbelieveably vague). If you can confirm that yours is newer than 2005, I can ask the Hosts to move you the the forum for current iMacs, which gets many more views.

  • How do you update software when there are multiple users with different (unknown) apple ID's?

We are a college with different users borrowing 'loaner' Macbooks.
several users with different ID's have installed software that is now tied to that Machines serial number, and cannot be updated or removed apparently. We are trying to update iPhoto for use with iBook author, but it was installed by an unknown user and cannot be removed.

The only practical solution is to wipe and re-provision the units when they're returned.

  • How do I set up multiple users on my Imac?

I want to set up different accounts for myself, wife, and daughter since we use such different software routinely. How can I set multiple users up? How can I secure the computer so they can't download anything harmful or "mess up" the computer? Will a screen pop up before Mac OS Leopard starts, similar to Windows? If not, how?

  • Multiple User with different Password

    Hii
I am looking for a router which has the best range and allow multiple users to connect to the router using their own different passwords, and further it may allow the admin to manage the Bandwidth and data of each user.

Hi, dxtariq. What I know is that Linksys routers can allow you to create three (3) different passwords. This is applicable if the wireless router you have is a dual band. This means, you can create each 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz wireless name and password plus there's an additional connection to the guest. You can create a different password for your guest access.  To learn more about Linksys you may also visit their site: support.linksys.com

  • How do you set up multiple users? Netscape use to let me choose which profile to start. Can I do this with Firefox and can I have email linked to each individual user/login? How?

Netscape use to let me choose and create new profiles. after clicking on the icon for netscape i was prompted for which user profile i wanted. can i do this with firefox? also, each user profile was linked with its respective email account. can i do this through firefox as well? I need help. i have tried setting up firefox before and since i couldn't accomplish this i had given up but netscape is so old and most sites cause it to crash, i need a solution. i have 2 main profiles and 2 different email addresses. any advice or help, even not firefox related would be great

Firefox doesn't have the same type of interface for the Profile Manager that Netscape did. You might want to look at SeaMonkey ''(which uses the same Mozilla Gecko code as Firefox has)''.

  • How to I set up multiple devices with iMessage so I don't have multiple conversations?

My family has two iTouchs and 2 iPhones. I have all 4 set up on the same apple ID so when purchases are made from the app store or iTunes then is comes from one account.  The problem I am having is texting. When the iPhones text either of the iPods it comes from the email address linked to the apple ID.  Therefore the iTouch users can't tell which phone it came from (ie mom or dad).  Sometimes however it will show up on the iTouchs from the iPhone phone numbers. Sometimes when sending a message from iPhone to iPhone it will show up as sent from the email address associated with the apple ID.  My questions is is there a way around this or do I need to set up a different apple ID for each unit?

  • How do I set up multiple users on itunes.

My two kids have my old phones and I want to set up apps and music for them and keep separate from mine...they are too young to have their own itunes account. Can anyone point me in the right direction

Log into the user account on your Mac, open iTunes, make sure the account is set up and autosync disabled in iTunes/Settings/Devices.
Connect the phone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup. This manual backup will save all data and settings. Do the same for the purchases, to copy apps and bought media.
Set up at least one contact and event, to be able to merge contact and calendars during the first sync.
Let iTunes set up and erase the phone and use the manual backup to restore from.
All content should be back on the phone again.
Music and apps can also be downloaded again for free: Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • In my household we have multiple users with different apple id's on one computer. Can we just change the login to sync our devices to the computer?

We have multiple apple id's for each member of the family and we all use one computer. Will this cause problems when we all want to sync to the computer, after we authorize each apple id to the computer?

Each user should have a separate user account on the computer. That will result in each user having a unique iTunes library and as long as each person logs into the computer with their own account, it will avoid unintentional cross synching and deletion of data.
