How do I setup my iphone 5 and iPad 2 to automatically back up to my time capsule?
I have just finished setting up my Time Capsule and my Mac is backing up as I am typing. I would love for my iphone and my ipad to back up to the time capsule as well, since my icloud space if full. :-(
I have tried connecting the time capsule network on my iphone, it worked, but I could not find anywhere where I should tell it to backup to the TC.
I would of course love for my husbands Windows PC to backup to the TC as well. So if that is possible please let me know.
And before I go, I have connected the my TC a external harddrive and I would love to know where to find that. I would like to use the files on there on my MAC, and back up that drive as well to the TC.

They cannot.. they are designed to backup to your local itunes which will then be backed up via TM to TC.

Yes that is possible.. you just need a backup sofware that works to network drives. Most do except MSBackuip on the home editions.
Mixing backups can have effects.. please read up in Pondini the ins and outs of TC. And TM.

Do you mean the external hard disk is plugged into the TC.. it can be read if you can see it in the airport utility.. if not it is in the wrong format.. it must be fat32 or HFS+. Otherwise it will show up in finder if you look under shared.

Previously they were configured to be part of a network attached to a cable modem. Now I have a DSL modem. I can get the 3TB Time Capsule tower to be recognized by my AirPort Utility but cannot get the older 2TB Time Capsule and Extreme Base Station to be recognised as wifi extensions of the 3TB Wi-Fi Base Station. This latter base station is set up in Bridge mode and the wifi is switched off on the DSL Modem. I am trying to recreate a home network (I have created a newly named one) and use the Apple products as the wifi routers, leaving the fibre optic-supplied DSL modem to interface with the internet.
I would have thought that I should set-up the 3TB Time Capsule Base Station in DHCP network mode, but trying to do so gives me error messages and renders the network inoperative. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get the AirPort utility to recognise the two other devices (Base Stations) as extensions of the main one? I have tried with RJ45 cabel connections to no avail.First, it would be wise to update your computer to OS X Mavericks. It's just a free update, but it really helps your computer.
Once you've done that, on to the fix.
In Airport Utility, select the old router and click "edit". Click the Wireless tab. Select Off. Click Update, and wait. During the update, you should use your phone to read this, as you may have no wireless for a time.
Once the update is done, click the new Time Capsule and click "edit". Select the wireless tab, and change the Network Mode to "Create a Wireless Network". Choose your name, security and password. Click Update. Once the new Time Capsule is plugged in and wired, you should be able to connect to your network from your laptop.
Back on the old Time Capsule, go to the Wireless Tab and select, "Extend a Wireless Network". Select your network, and click update.
On the Airport Extreme, do the same as the old Time Capsule.
You should be done! Now, you can move your old Time Capsule somewhere else as use it as an extention of your network. And the same with the Airport Extreme. Enjoy your 5TB of network storage! -

Your post indicates you have used Cydia, which is a software application for iOS that enables a user to find and install software packages on jailbroken iOS Apple devices. Since your iPad has been jailbroken, we can't help you in this forum. Best bet is to Google for answers.
Plus your Apple warranty has been voided and the Apple Genius Bar/Support will not help you.

HT3275 How do I set up my iMac and Macbook Pro to both backup to my single Time Capsule?
I previously backed up my Macbook Pro to my Time Capsule. I am now trying to use the same TC to backup an iMac. However, I get an error saying the "MBP sparsebundle is already in use". I think that is 'cos my iMac is backing up, but I need to know how to resolve this ASAP.
They use separate sparsebundles so the issue is something else.. often with lion there are issues with a device keeping the TC open.. you log into the disk area of the airport utility manual setup, and use disconnect all users.. the backup should then work.

My phone and iPad have not backed up (neither automatically or when I choose "Back up now") to iCloud since mid-December 2012. iCloud does not appear to save my current password in settings, does that have something to do with it?

I have one apple ID for both my Iphone 4S and Ipad. My Ipad was stolen from me and when I checked the iCloud, it can only locate the Iphone 4S. How can I locate the Ipad device?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely. -

I am new to this community even though I have been a Apple user for years, so please forgive me if this question is not in the right section.
Has anyone encountered drastic shorter battery life both on iphone 5 and ipad since updating to iOS 6.1.2? I've always been happy with these two products until the update - now the battery life is considerably shorter which is extremely frustrating.
How can this problem be solved? Is there any way to go back to the previous version?
Thanks for your help.If you update using iTunes the phone is first wiped clean, then the new OS is installed, and finally the backup is restored. After this finishes if you sync your music should be restored. Music is not in the backup, because it is already on your computer and duplicating it would use up a lot of hard disk space.
An OTA update just patches what has changed; it does not disturb content. -
I have an iTunes account set up long ago on my home pc. My pc at home is antiquated and I can't interface with my account to edit acc. Info. Now I have other devices, iPhone 4 and iPad. I need to reset email apple Id and pw from iPad. How? Should I just create new account? Don't want to lose 1500 songs.

When you say a new user ID, are you referring to your Apple ID that you use to make purchases in the iTunes Store, etc? Or are you talking about a new user account on the same Mac?

I woke up one morning this week to find that some of my contacts have been deleted from my iphone 5 and ipad first generation. Try going into your account details on iTunes, change your info there, then sync your devices.

You need to enter the id, and the password, of the account that the phone is linked to.
Did you buy the phone new or used ? If you bought the phone used and it's still linked to the previous owner's account then you will have to contact the previous owner and ask him/her to remove the phone from their account : Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account - Apple Support.
If you bought the phone new and it's your account then enter the id and password that you were using in Settings > iCloud on it -
