How do i share apps between accounts?

I have installed call of duty using my Admin account and installed it in the top most 'shared' folder. I can use it with no problems at all, but my brothers account has problems with it.
1. The mouse wont work while in Call of duty.
2. It opens in a window not fullscreen (not default option).
3. His account will not create alias'
I have had problems with games before where i can use them but my brother cant. Various companies including Aspyr recommend installing games into the shared folder (even if theres only one account) to get around any permissions conflicts, but i seem to think doing this is whats causing all the problems.
Does anybody have an idea why this is happening?

Thats what I thought but Aspyr and MacSoft told me to place games in the shared folder to avoid permissions conflicts. Which sort of makes sense because the folder is called 'Shared'. But then I thought about the Apps folder and how the other account (my brother) can access everything in there without problems.
So im still not sure what function the shared folder has? From now on apps are going in the apps folder which makes more sense.

If they are syncing to the same iTunes library you can just sync them to the other phone using iTunes.  (However, if the other phone has been syncing to a different computer/iTunes library don't do this or you will create problems as iTunes will delete all iTunes media off the phone and replace it with the media in the new library when you sync.)

  • How do I share applications between accounts (ie Skype)

Not sure how to share applications between accounts?  If I load Skype to my account for example, how can my wife see and use that same Skype account without having to have her own?

There are two aspects to this ... 1) where you install the Skype software on your Mac and 2) whose ID you use to login to Skype.
    1) You should always install software in the root /Applications folder.  This is the default installation folder for nearly all software.  Installing in /Applications makes the program (app) available to all user accounts on your Mac.  If you install the software in any other folder (especially a folder inside your own user account), it will usually limit use of the software to that account only.
    2) After installing Skype as I indicated above, if you want your wife to use her own user account on the Mac, but sign in to Skype with your Skype user ID, all she needs to do is log into her account on the Mac and then open Skype and sign into Skype with your user ID & password.

  • Can you share apps between accounts when using the same PC

My wife and I have always shared my account. made it easy to purchase and share. Howeever, with iCloud etc its becoming increasingly obvious that seperate accounts might be needed.
Can you share apps you purchase through differnt accounts when your using the same computer?
I now you can with music.

    Yes.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
You can figure out using it with another machine from that too

My mom and I both like a song. She bought it on iTunes and wants to give it to me to have as well but we don't know how to do that..... Any knowledge on this?

You can share an iCloud calendar with another iCloud user/ID either privately (which allows editing) or publically (which only allows viewing).  This is explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a8694.

How do I share one itunes account between two users on the same computer without taking up twice as much space on my hard drive?

You would need to move the itunes folder to a location that both users have permissions to access such as the Shared folder or any folder on the root level of the macintosh HD.
You can find instructions here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203 This method allows you to share the content without sharing the same library.

  • How do I share files between two Macs on my wireless network?

I have an iMac G4 and an ibook G3 on a wireless network. I have "file sharing" activated on both computers. (Also Appletalk, which may or may not be a misguided move, but I got the idea from OSX "Help.")
When I try to get from either computer onto the other, my computer is recognized by name (another alternative is to log on as a "guest"). I'm prompted for a password. None of the passwords I use works. I've tried the administrative passwords for both computers.
How do I get beyond this hurdle to share files? I've posted elsewhere to no avail. This must be an easy one. How do you share files between two macs on one network?

Do your accounts on the machines have the same short name? It's an issue I've seen a few names.. one machine with bsmith, the other with bobsmith, but the long names for both being "Bob Smith". The login windows would confuse users because it showed their names, but because the short names didn't match, it wouldn't work.
The password you should use is the administrative one, so I don't know why you're not having luck.
