How do I share music in iTunes between different iTunes account on the MacBook Pro?

How do I share music in iTunes between different iTunes account on the MacBook Pro?

If it's in a single iTunes library, it's already being shared. If it's in separate user accounts on the computer, move one library to the /Users/Shared/ folder, launch iTunes with the Option key held down, point it there, and import the music from the other library to it.

How do I share photos and music between different user accounts on the same Macbook? i.e. I want all to be able to access family photos when logged into their respective accounts. Same goes for the iTunes library. Hope this is possible...
    Thanks!

To give other users read-only access to your iTunes library, use the Sharing features of iTunes. Sharing works over the local network as well as on the same computer. See the built-in help for details.
To give others selective access to your iPhoto library, you have the option of using iCloud Photo Sharing, if the privacy implications don't bother you. The images will be stored temporarily on Apple servers.
If you want to give full read/write access to more than one user, see the support articles linked below.

  • How do I share files on iCloud between different apps?

    Hi,
how do I share files on iCloud between different apps?
I would like to edit simple plain text files on my Mac and my iPad using different apps. They don't see the content of each other. How do I fix this?
    example:
when I create a .txt files:
Byword on Mac syncs nicely with Byword on iOS.
Ulysses 3 on Mac syncs nicely with Daedalus Touch.
BUT, cross-sync is not possible.... :/
How can I change this? - I would like to work with Byword on my Mac and Daedalus on the go.
    Thanks in advance!

Cross-sync only works if an app on the iDevice allows it.  For example, some apps (editors) sync with Dropbox (icloud usually isn't the thing to use) but only in their own folders.
If you save a file from the mac to it's own folder, A, on dropbox and on the device you use a different app that uses its own folder, B, then you won't be able to reach folder A on the device.
One thing to look for in editors that support Dropbox (most do, on a device - clearly all do on a mac) is whether they access dropbox using the root folder.  From there you can drop down to any subfolder and reach the files you want.

  • Share an itunes between two separate accounts on the same macbook pro

My Partner and I share a macbook pro - we both have indidiual accounts.
Our itunes music is all showing on the iTunes in his account.
However, I log him out and then log into mine the iTunes is empty....
Is there a way that we can share the iTunes and the music purchased between our two accounts on our macbook without having to buy all the music again??
I am not very switched on with the syncing business and the only way I can see around it is to put all the music on a hard drive and then transfer it back onto my iTunes accounts - but I would consider that that method is a little outdated now?

  • Can u/how do u  share playlists between different apple accounts on the same computer?

My other half has own iphone    how do I share i tunes with 2 different phones and 2 itunes ids

First thing you need to do is disable auto syncing in iTunes. This is from Edit>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, etc.
Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is set up separate log in accounts for the laptop. This will allow you to have iTunes in each log in and they can have different content. iTunes cannot have separate content with the same log in and different Apple ID, but you can manage two phones with the same iTunes account. See if any of the information in this support document will help you http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1495 but the best solution is separate computer log in.

  • Sharing Music from different login accounts on a MacBook Pro

I just have a quick question. My wife sync's her iPhone to her account login on my MacBook Pro which is different from my login from startup. We share the computer but I got her, her own login so she could add and mess with the features she prefers. Anywho, I am curious if there is any way to share my music folder on my main admin user account on my MacBook Pro with her login account (we switch users, login and logout). Is this possible? Would make life a LOT easier. Hopefully this makes sense...we both just want to be able to sync the same music to our iPhones without having to backup all the music on my external harddrive and then load it onto her login account. I dont use Mobile Me.

You need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

You can probably import into a modern version of iMovie (8 or higher).
If you just wish to view the videos the free VLC player can play them back.

  • Want to give my old IPOD to husband but how do we share music etc - he wants different music and apps to me how can this be done without me deleting my stuff?

Oooppss! Put the whole question in the title bar!
What I would like to know is how do I get to keep my stuff different from my husbands, there are things that we both like and things that we don't. I dont want him to delete off my old IPOD if it means i have to keep installing again. I dont want to set up a new account because we want to share music and videos

You'll notice that each iPad is identified by name.  See image below.  Highlight the appropriate iPad and configure iTunes the way that you wish.  The second image below is an example for apps.  You'll see something similar for movies, TV shows, etc.
The only minor problem is app updating.  IF you choose to do it from inside iTunes, it's a minor nuisance.  Each app is permanently associated with whatever Apple ID was originally used to obtain it.  If you're logged in to the wrong ID, you'll need to log out and back in again.  On the bright side, if you update from the iPad, all you need is the password for the correct ID.  The iPad takes care of the rest.
Mail is a special case.  I use Mac Mail and the setup is pretty much automatic.  What are you using?

  • How can I sync settings and programs between 2 user accounts on the same mac?

    Hi,
I have created 2 user accounts on my mac, one for personal, and one for work (but both for me). It's primarily for organization, keeping files separate, but also because I have two separate Dropbox accounts and only one can be installed per user. I want to know if there's a way to sync selected programs, files, and settings between the two accounts? Basically, I'd like to have the same programs and settings for both user accounts, and just different files.
I can't seem to find any info on this, but maybe I'm using the wrong terms!
    Thanks!

  • Sharing iTunes between different iTunes accounts on different computers with different operating systems

I have an iTunes account on my home pc (Windows XP) that I sync with my iPhone. My wife has an iPhone with a different iTunes account that she syncs with her Mac at work. Is there any way to share my iTunes library with my wife's iPhone even though she has her own iTunes account and syncs her phone with a Mac?

thanks, zevoneer. apparently, I gave up too early in my own search. I'm trying it now - the copy process is taking some time. Well, I had hoped to narrow the access down to only one other account but at least this should provide the access that is needed.

  • How do I authorize music purchased on a different appleID account other than mine?

    Long story. Here goes:
I was married for several years and during that time my now ex-wife and I purchased music from iTunes. Being married and foolishly adhering to that old adage that once two people are married they become one, we set up OUR Apple account using my then wife's (now ex-wife's) e-mail address and created OUR apple ID account under her name. Fast forward eight years, it has now been two years since my divorce and I have tons of music that was purchased using my ex-wife's Apple account. During the last two years, playing the music that was purchased with her account has not been an issue. I select my music that I want to listen to, hit play and it played. But ever since the latest update from iTunes, I now have a HUGE issue. The latest update requires computers to now be "authorized" to play purchased music and any purchased music must now be verified by the account ID and password used to purchase the music. This has created a catastrophe because my ex-wife has now of course changed her Apple ID password which means I no longer have access to about $1000 worth of music because of this new authorization bull crap!! WHY APPLE IS REQUIRING THIS I DO NOT KNOW BUT I DO KNOW I CANNOT AFFORD TO RE-PURCHASE  UNDER MY ACCOUNT THE  $1000 WORTH OF MUSIC I ALREADY PURCHASED UNDER MY EX-WIFE'S ACCOUNT. This has made me livid to say the least because this seems to be an arbitrary and completely random bull crap requirement from Apple. I have tried to resolve this through Apple support but since it is now nearly impossible to speak to a human at Apple, the email method of communication has yielded diddly squat. I doubt this "forum method" will be any more productive but I have to try. I have begun a social media campaign against Apple's methods of burying random and arbitrary requirements deep within their regular software updates. I've already paid for the music once. I won't pay for it again. HHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are in the process of getting divorced, put it in your agreement that the old ID gets frozen and nobody uses it going forward and then set-up new IDs for future purchases.  That way, nobody ever looses the old stuff.
    Bad suggestion.
If you  freeze the ID (simply meaniung each agrees to not make new purchases) then you both have two iTunes accounts to deal with - the old one and a new one.
Also, you legally cannot both use the content.
Just give the iTunes account to one or the other then each has only one iTunes account.
Make a deal. - You get the dishes, I get the iTunes account.

  • Can i access my iTunes on a different "user accounts" on my MacBook Pro?  If so, how?  Thanks.

Hello Mac People, I am trying to access iTunes from a different User Account on my MacBookPro but i am not able to get access to it.  I was trying to change a song in a keynote presentation and discovered that i was not able to change the song from that "Guest User" account.  So i had to go back into my main account open up keynote there, change the song and then i could continue with it in the new system.  It seems a permission issue with iTunes on a different user account (i am talking about like in System Preferences>Systems>Users and Groups - where you create additional users on your mac)???  Thoughts? Thanks.

  • Playing iTunes with different user accounts in the same computer

I just created another user account in my computer running windows XP, but when I try to open itunes in the new user account it ask me to close the other itunes that is running in the administrator account or vice versa, Why I can't run both itunes at the same time if both are in the same pc? I already checked in the preference panel the option for share my library music in both itunes just in case if that is the problem but still asking me the same. Am I doing something wrong?
    Powerbook 1.33 Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

iTUnes, in basic terms, does not play nice with the "Fast user switching" feature in windows turned on. THis feature (If memory serves me right) is automaticly turned on in windows when you create another user account. to turn it off, goto control panel>user accounts>change the way users log on and off.
Afew aricals about iTUnes and fast user switching can be found here http://search.info.apple.com/?search=Go&lr=lang_en&kword=kipod%20OR%20kipodwin%2 0OR%20kitunes%20OR%20kituneswin&type=ktechORklearn&newstype=&q=Fast%20user%20switching
