How do I show imported photos in Events?

I downloaded photos off my camera into iPhoto 9.5.1 (I have just upgraded to this).  The photos are showing if I click on "last 12 months" but they are not showing up in Events. How do I get them into events?
I had the older version of iphoto and whenever I downloaded photos off of my camera, they would go directly into events.

And they still do
Most likely your camera date is incorrect (correct on the camera - and for photos already imported by selecting the photops and using teh adjust time/date command) or your event sort is incorrect (correct by the view menu ==> sort events)
The photos are showing if I click on "last 12 months" but they are not showing up in Events. How do I get them into events?
Last 12 months is just one of many views of the photos in your library - events are another view - every photo in one view is also in every other view - you are just looking in the wrong place (see above)

  • How do I find imported photos in events?

I recently bought a Macbook air and noticed that when I import photos into iPhoto, they do not generate a new untitled event in "Events" as they used to on my previous Mac laptop.   Instead I have to go to "Photos" and sort through thousands of photos to find those that I just imported.  This takes a lot of time to locate them and then if I want to "copy" the photo I've found, I cannot "paste" it into an event.   All of my photos are organized in Events for easy/fast retrieval, but it would seem that iPhoto on the Macbook air doesn't allow for the use of events any longer.    Anyone have any ideas about how to continue to use events for importing on a Macbook air?

What is your iPhoto version on your new MacBook Air?
I am still seeing new events created (in iPhoto 9.5.1) , when I use "File > Import" to import a folder of image files, or import from my camera, or drag image files to the iPhoto Library.
Instead I have to go to "Photos" and sort through thousands of photos to find those that I just imported.
You can find quickly the event by opening the "Last Import" album and selecting one of the photos. Ctrl-click it and select "Show event".

  • Iphoto not showing imported photos in events

I have been using iphoto for quite a while with very few problems.  Recently I have added an iPhone and an apple TV into my apple ecosystem.  I have recently noticed that my iphoto library is NOT showing photos imported from 3rd party sources such as my android phone, in the events section of the interface.  The photos ARE present in the 'photos' section which leads me to believe that they are IN the library.  But when i look at the events and select one say for 3/24 it will only display the photos taken from my wifes iphone and NOT the ones taken from my andriod and imported using the add to library function.  I have attempted all four options in the command-option iphoto startup and have gotten no where.
Many of you might that that this is a non issue as the photos are present in the 'photo' section.  but as i prefer to use the fullscreen mode in iphoto i do not have access to the 'photos' tab in full screen, only the 'events'.
could my appletv or iPhone or appletv be a contributing factor?  Is there an option in events to only display iPhone imported photos?
Any help would be appricaited I am pulling my hair out here.

1 - Photos and events are simply two different views of the same photos - your iPhoto library - so any photo that is in one is always also in the other - you are just looking in the wrong place
2 - the most common issue is incorrect dates on photos so you look in the wrong location for the event - in the photos view right click on one of the photos that you are not seeing in an event and show event
3 - another possiblity is the sort order of the events - verify it under the view menu ==> sort events
4 - No - it is not your Apple TV nor is it your iPhone

If you have a decent mail provider like Microsoft Hotmail or Outlook.com mail it does.
If you have Gmail it does not.  Quite right. Gmail is rubbish.

  • How can I view my photos in "Events" like in iPhoto? How can I create events?  I have 55,000 photos and 1700 events so the only way I can possibly manage my photos is using events that are one slide in size.

I have 55,000 images organized into about 1700 events. The only reasonable way to view my library is using events in iPhoto where each event has one image That still leaves 1700 images to sort through but that is a lot easier than 55,000 images.  In the side bar is a folder with "iPhoto Events" but those views still show all of the slides.  How can I create events and view my photos as events as in iPhoto?  Events are critical for large libraries and has been my primary way to sort images.
    Thanks!

I had a problem a couple of months ago when iPhotos suddenly rearranged the order of my Events (Why won't iPhoto let me arrange my photos?) .  I was told "Use albums not events - events are not a good way to organize - albums and folder are designed for organisation and are very flexible".
Haha!  I should have paid attention and read between the lines!  My iPhotos were highly organised groupings - not according to date but the way I wanted them - and it was so easy to do!  I see now that if I had them all in albums, as per the Apple Apologist suggestion, I wouldn't have this unholy mess I have been left with just to make iPhone & iCloud users happy.  I am now going through Photos and making Albums (of what used to be in my Events)  ... maybe I'll get this finished before they do another non user friendly update!

  • How do I delete imported photos on the iPad in less then 2000 clics?

    Hi.
I've been using the iPad to collect photos form my digital cameras.
I have a few thousand of such photos on my iPad.
Today I wanted to delete them (because they take a lot of memory and are synched anyway after correction).
I could only find how to delete them by selecting them one by one on the iPad .
On the Mac, I use Aperture, which has no option (AFAIK) for deleting imported photos.
How stupid is that that you can import thousands of photos on the iPad and not delete them in under 1000 clics?
I just found out that I still have iPhoto on my Mac, so I am going to import pictures from the iPad to iPhoto and use the option to delete them.
Anyone with a less ridiculous solution?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jerome.

The iPad's file system is hidden and not accessible unless perhaps you have jailbroken the iPad.
Not jailbroken. The OP asked about photos that were imported, not sync'ed.
Quote: "I've been using the iPad to collect photos from my digital cameras.

The import photo albums generated using the CCK are accessable just like the "Saved Photos" album.
As far as "clueing you in on how I do that", see my previous post.

  • How do I re-import photos that Lightroom says it "cannot find."

I have gone to a half-day workshop on Lightroom 5.  I have purchased and started reading Scott Kelby's Lightroom 5 for Digital Photographers, but find it rather cumbersome and unhelpful.  And all I am trying to do is ORGANIZE and import photos (I am only now on Chapter 1).  I have used Photoshop Elements for years, and found it very user friendly. Not so with Lightroom, for me!!!
I was trying to organize my photos in my external hard drive.
    1.  I noticed that some photos I thought I had imported from my SanDisk 16 gb "chip" to the external drive don't seem to be available in Lightroom, because I get a message like "Cannot find files."
    2. I tried to re-import these photos, but Lightroom seems to think they are somewhere, and won't let me import from my SanDisk again.
    3. Trying ot solve this problem I clicked "Merge" on the photos in my external hard drive, but that only put all my photos in one folder, now not according to date. I want to revert to saving them by DATE, not "merged" into one file
    4. I checked in Scott Kelby's index under "merge" it does not refer to a problem with managing photos.
    5. Help me learn the following:
    A. How to correct the "merge" which put all the photos in one folder, not by date, so that they are again organized by date.
    B. How to find the photos that Lightroom says it cannot find, or download them again, or whatever to solve the missing photo problem

    1. I noticed that some photos I thought I had imported from my SanDisk 16 gb "chip" to the external drive don't seem to be available in Lightroom, because I get a message like "Cannot find files."
Could you please give us the EXACT error message?
Then I clicked on IMPORT. Was this the correct way of downloading, because when I do that, in the top LEFT corner of the Lightroom screen, it indicates that it is “downloading photos,” but nothing seems to download.
This sounds to me like a hardware problem ... either the card reader or the card itself is not responding.
With regards to the bulk of the rest of your problems, it might make sense to start over. Remove the files from your hard disk using your operating system (assuming they are still on your camera card), create a new empty catalog in Lightroom (File->New Catalog), and import them again from your camera cards. Perhaps instead of following Kelby's advice, follow other advice on importing and organizing, such as:
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-lightroom-5/importing-photos-from-a-cf-card/
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/getting-started-with-adobe-photoshop-lightroom-5/lightroom-5-imp orting-your-images
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/getting-started-with-adobe-photoshop-lightroom-5/lightroom-5-org anizing-your-images/
It is also my opinion that if you read Scott Kelby's books and start where he discusses how to edit photos, you will probably find the book to be useful; however if you read Scott Kelby's books where he discusses importing and organizing, it is my opinion that his advice is off-the-mark and not helpful. If you want to read a good book on organizing, try http://thedambook.com/

  • How to remove already imported photos?

How do I remove the photos that have been imported? When I first imported my photos I must have imported everyone photo off my computer.  29,000 pictures I would like to remove them and just bring in one folder at a time. How do I do that??

use the camera's format command to reformat and erase the memory card
a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card --  I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos

  • How to delete already imported photos?

So, I connected my camera to my computer and ran iPhoto to import some of the pictures. Since most of them were videos, I left my computer to do the import overnight. My camera doesn't charge while importing, so it turned off, luckily my selected photos and videos were already imported. In the morning, I couldn't pick the option of deleting my imported photos from my device (the camera was already disconnected from my Mac). Is there any way of deleting these automatically? An option of deleting already imported pictures and videos when I connect my camera?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to remove previously imported photos

    Please Help!
I have too many (5,200+) photos on my iPhone that were previously imported but it will not allow me to select all & delete.
    Thanks!!!
    Needing Space

I already answered your post in the other thread
"Do you have iPhoto on your iPhone?
In iPhoto do the following:  In iPhoto, tap Albums, tap Camera Roll, tap the Actions button ◦◦◦ to select the photos, tap Options button, tap Delete Photo, and tap Delete. The photos are deleted from both iPhoto and your device."
The problem is, that to select the photos you will have to do a lot of tapping.
An easy - quick and dirty - work-around would be to import again to your Mac - import to Image Capture - and then let Image Capture delete the imported photos from the iPhone, after the import.

  • HT201317 How do i delete imported photos in my ipad?

I had imported photos from my computer to my iPad before. Now, i have decided to remove them. But it seems that i couldn't find the "trash bin" icon on the upper right corner. I would like to remove it using my computer but it was newly fixed. The newly installed iTunes couldn't recognize my device. I'm worried that i might lose data if i continue to figure it out by myself. I need some help please. I'm not good in dealing with technical problems. Thank you.!

If they were taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc then you  should be able to delete them directly in the iPad's Photos app - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it (Edit button on iOS 6) in thumbnail view.
Depending upon what version of iOS that you have on your iPad then after tapping the Edit button at the top right of the screen in thumbnail view you may also be able to double-tap one of the thumbnails with two fingers, but instead of lifting your fingers off the screen after the second tap slide then back and forth across the screen on the photos that you want to select for deletion.
You should also be able to delete them via Image Capture on your Mac e.g. re-connect the iPad, open Image Capture, select the photos that you want to delete and then at the bottom of the screen click the 'no entry' symbol
Edit : your reply appeared after I started typing this

  • 10.10.3 Photos: How to Delete Previously Imported Photos from iPhone?

iPhoto has an option to import only new photos from an iPhone, and then an option to delete all previously imported photos from a connected iPhone after an import session. In this way, I could avoid having duplicate photos in iPhoto, and also remove all photos from my iPhone photo roll, including any that had come into iPhoto via Photo Stream.
This functionality seems to be gone in Photos, which in my opinion is a huge step back.
It seems I am left either to import all photos and then delete duplicates from Photos, or to import only the odd new photos, and still have all the photos that were imported via Photo Stream remain clogging up my Camera Roll, which I like to keep clean.
Has anyone found a way to handle this task like used to be handled in iPhoto?

I believe the architecture behind Photos and the iCloud photo library is that you'll have a unified photo library across all your devices, and that you can manage your library from any device linked to iCloud. So the answer is, you cannot import images to iCloud and then delete them from your camera roll, doing so would delete them from the iCloud photo library.
In the iCloud Settings on your iPhone, you can set up iCloud to optimize storage for your iPhone. That is, you'll have smaller sized images stored on your device to view. If you wish to edit an image, the full-sized image will be downloaded from iCloud. I believe Favorites are stored as full-sized images at all times.
If this isn't the behavior you desire, you'll have to disable iCloud photos and use an alternative cloud storage setup such as Dropbox. I wouldn't link the Camera app to Dropbox, instead I'd use Image Capture to import the images from your phone to the Dropbox photos folder, then delete the images from the iPhone if that's your wish. It may be possible to do something similar with Flickr. They have a Mac app that will automatically upload new images from a source you select. So again you'd use Image Capture to import your photos from you iPhone to a folder you designate on your Mac. Once in the Flickr cloud, they're not linked to anything on your Mac. If you delete them from your Mac, they remain in Flickr.

  • How do I move imported photos into an existing album in photos

I have a large collection of photos in iPhoto, arranged into events and albums.
If I now import from my camera i open up photos, not iPhoto.
After importing images how do I add specific images to one, or more, of my existing albums.
If I close photos and open iPhoto I can still import to iPhoto but the images do not appear in photos.

    peterfromrotherham wrote:

Enable the Sidebar if it isn't showing (View menu > Show Sidebar), then drag the photos into the album icon on the sidebar.

  • IPhoto '09 doesn't show all photos in Event

I"m sure this must be simple, but I don't use iPhoto a lot.  Here's the problem.  In one of my Events I've got about 150 Photos; however, when I want to sync it with my iPad or Mobile Me Gallery it only shows 3 of the Photos.  I can't figure out what the issue is.

Put a test photo on the desktop and import from there.  Then delete it from the desktop and try to enlarge the photo in iPhoto.  If it enlarges OK the library is good.  If you get the exclamation point the library is damaged. If that's the case try the following: make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - delete  the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot and the option to rebuild the small thumbnails.
