how do i shuffle music as a genre in the new ios 7? it only lets me pick a specific artist, and shuffle his/her songs, as opposed to shuffling the whole genre itself.

Found the answer from Jesse Hollington at iLounge :
"Swipe downward to reveal the search field and type in your Genre name there. When it appears in the search results you can tap on it to view all of the tracks assigned to that particular genre, grouped by album. Tap on an individual track and your device will begin playback using the displayed list of tracks as your playlist."
Tried it, and it works!

Actually, JinKL, doing a search from "Songs" is harder to do and does not give the exact same result. It's harder to do because I have to key an artist's name rather than pick one from a list. The results aren't the same for several reasons. If you key an artist name that matches a song, you get that song, too. OK, that doesn't happen THAT much, but it does happen. And if I key a partial name, say "Morrison" for "Van Morrison", I get all the songs on "Morrison Hotel" by the Doors.
"All Songs" should be added to the iPad music player. While they're at it, they should add column titles and allow allow sorting on the column values.

You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

The iPad 1, coming up on three years since it was introduced, has been given two major and a number of minor upgrades to iOS, more than many tablet manufactures provide. The iPad 1's hardware just can't effectively support many of the features in iOS 6. So I don't think that it's particularly unfair for Apple to no longer provide updates. And yes, I do own and manage a number of iPad 1s.

You can't transfer it directly. If the old iPod is set to sync to your iTunes library on the computer, everything on the iPod is in your iTunes library. Just set up the shuffle to sync from your iTunes library as desired.
If the old iPod is set to Manually manage music, AND there are songs on the iPod that are not in your current iTunes library, please post back.

Can't figure out how to remove select music from my iPhone 4 with the new iTunes

My old PC with all my music on iTunes died, and I need to remove some music from my iPhone 4 to make room for the new OS update. I downloaded iTunes on a different computer and tried to sync the iPhone to it, to move all the music on my iPhone to iTunes so I could deselect what songs I wanted to remove to make the storage space. I can't figure out how to do this with the new (non-user-friendly) iTunes update. When I sync the phone, the only songs that show up are the ones I have purchased on iTunes, but non of the songs/albums that I transfered from CDs. I don't want to reset my phone to delete ALL my music, just select songs/albums. Can anyone please help me figure out the new iTunes to be able to do this? It is driving me nuts and I'm getting really mad at Apple for their constant updates making things less easy to use!

I decided tonight to finally update to the new version of ios7. I already updated to 7 when it came out but have been avoiding the newer versions of it...until tonight. If this is the third time that this has happened to you, I don't blame you for being upset. On the other hand, after the second time, you should have learned the importance of backing up your iOS devices and apparently you didn't do that or you wouldn't be in such a panic.
You cannot downgrade the iOS, You have to restore your phone now and all of the contents will be erased. I think you know that though, and I think that you know that there is no way around it either.

Should be able to go into your sound preferences and choose your output device, you can also try downloading Airfoil and try that, it's a pretty cool app.

I was at the Apple store today and one of their "geniuses" confirmed it is not possible to shuffle songs in one specific genre. He had not noticed this himself, and after trying to do it on my iPod, he tried it on his iPhone, and that did not work either. He told me the best he could do was tell his boss. This of course, does not help much, but we can always hope they fix the issue sometime soon.
