How do I shuffle songs within Playlists?

I'm new at this. How do I shuffle songs within each individual playlist?
So far I only know how to shuffle when I'm not using a playlist.

lol
Don't worry about it. I have read original posts wrong and have tried troubleshooting a different issue than the person was having. After about the 5th or 6th reply, I'll read something that doesn't make sense (in relation to the problem), go back, and realize my BIG mistake!

Storage space on the iPod would not affect shuffled playlists or playlist shuffling, though substantially full iPods may wind up skipping songs on larger playlists after a while, and require a restart.  As for compressing the files themselves, you can automatically re-encode files to a lower bitrate by checking the box on the summary page when your iPod is connected to your PC/Mac.
As for the shuffle problem, after restarting your iPod (hold the center button and Menu for a few seconds, until the Apple logo appears), make sure you're telling the iPod to shuffle the songs in a playlist by repeatedly clicking the center button until the Suffle Menu comes up, then scroll to the right to turn it on.  From that song forward, the playlists' contents should be shuffled every time the playlist ends, or is accessed from a new song.
Shuffle does sometimes turn itself off, I've found, so double-check the setting is still on.  Also, iPods shuffle by randomly assigning a playlist order for your songs, which is different from traditional shuffle (on, say, iTunes or Windows Media Player, where the new song is determined at random upon the current track ending.  The iPod only chooses a random order of songs when you shuffle, to conserve battery life and queue up songs coming up on the playlist in the event of a shock).

  • How to delete multiple songs within playlist

Hi does anyone know how to delete multiple songs within a playlist on OS or Mac??  I have reached the limit in songs I can play offliine and would like to delete some of the songs that are on my playlist.  For example the last 100 songs.  I dont want to indiviually sit here and delete them one by one.  Thanks Ray

On ios i think the only way is to edit the playlist by clicking on the three dots. I dont own a mac, but on windows you can hold control and select the songs you want to delete. Or select a song, go to the last song you want to delete, hold shift and click on the song.

  • Shuffling Songs Within Playlists

I have a 5th Gen. iPod (30gb)0. I need to know how to shuffle within playlists. I appreciate any help.
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Go to settings-->shuffle and set it to songs.
Then go to music-->playlists. When the playlist you
want to shuffle is highlighted, hit play.
    Merry Christmas

  • How can I shuffle songs within one genre on i0s7?

I have got i0s7 on my iphone 5 and find that when I go into a particular genre of music I can no longer "shuffle" songs from different artists within the same genre. Can anyone help?

    From another thread
If you just highlight the name of the genre and press play/pause, you won't have to select an artist.

  • Problem with shuffling tracks within playlists

I'm having trouble shuffling songs within playlists.  I have an iPhone 5s with iOS 8.1.2.
If I open a playlist and press 'Shuffle' (or the Shuffle icon) above the first song, nothing happens--the playlist will not play, and I'm unable to play any of the individual songs within the playlist (the songs in the list will gray-out briefly when clicking on them).
If I start a playlist and try shuffling from the 'Now Playing' screen, only the current song will play.  For example, I hit 'Shuffle'--"Shuffle All' is highlighted but '1 of 41' becomes '1 of 1.'  If I then hit 'Shuffle All," '1 of 1' becomes '0 of 0.'
Thus far, the only way I can shuffle a playlist is to ask Siri to do it (and she doesn't always understand the playlist names).
Am I doing something wrong, or is there a bug here?
    Thanks.

It seems to occur more frequently lately. You can still add songs by right-click < Add to Playlist, although this is not as convenient as drag-n-drop. Hopefully it will get fixed soon.

  • How can i set songs within a playlist, or an entire playlist, so that they are not included when using the shuffle function on IPOD Classic? Is this possible?

How can i set songs within a playlist, or an entire playlist, so that they are not included when using the shuffle function on IPOD Classic?
    Is this possible?

You can set any song to Skip when shuffling.
In your iTunes Library, highlight the song and right-click/Get Info. On the Options tab is the Skip when shuffling box. Select that and then Sync the iPod with your Library.

  • How can you shuffle songs in a playlist in itunes 11?

You used to be able to create a playlist, shuffle it, then synch it to your ipod.  This was done easily with a shuffle button in the library.  In 11 that button is no longer there.  How can you do this now?

Your question is clear, but you then go on to say something completely different. I've answered your question "how can (you) shuffle songs in a Playlist in iTunes 11".
In Playlists, click on the "start playing in shuffle mode" icon (that I've ringed). And...
In this next shot (the space you need to watch), you can see the Shuffle icon (ringed in larey lime) is blue, so it's "on", and I've also clicked on the "show me what's coming up next" icon (ringed in red).  Study the list of upcoming songs. It's the Playlist we're in, but shuffled:
    Hey presto!
Now - if you actually mean something else, such as: "create the Playlist, adjust the order of the songs and then Sync it to the iPod"; then as before, you can drag songs within a Playlist to whatever order you want and Sync the Playlist - as before. I've no idea what the "button" you refer to, looked like. Can you explain?

  • ?How do I shuffle "songs" in a playlist?

Hi out there! I have an I pod classic 80gb. New as of the last 3-4 months. My question is...How do I get it to shuffle "songs" within a playlist? It seems to only give me the option in the settings to set the shuffle to "albums" within a playlist. Am I missing some software update? iTunes on my computer has the option to shuffle songs in a playlist so why doesnt my ipod have the same option? HELP!! Thanks!!

In the settings menu, make sure that shuffle is set to "songs". Then select any playlist, then press play (not select). The songs within that playlist will be shuffled.

  • Can't Organize Songs Within Playlists

I would like to organize the songs within playlists alphabetically to make them easier to find. I've tried hitting the tab in Itunes, and within the program they're organized. But when I go to the Nano they are still all mixed up. I put in all the artists and tried to organize it through that category, and still they were unorganized on the Nano. Any other suggestions?

I just did a test. I created a 'test playlist', then I selected all songs in my music lib and copied it to the new 'test playlist'. Low and behold, all songs are in alpha order by song name.

  • How do I shuffle songs in a genre in the new iTunes on an iPhone or iPad?

How do I shuffle songs in a genre in the new iTunes on an iPhone or iPad?

I was at the Apple store today and one of their "geniuses" confirmed it is not possible to shuffle songs in one specific genre. He had not noticed this himself, and after trying to do it on my iPod, he tried it on his iPhone, and that did not work either. He told me the best he could do was tell his boss. This of course, does not help much, but we can always hope they fix the issue sometime soon.

  • Playlist that shuffles songs within ratings categories

I'm trying to create a smart playlist that plays all the songs in a genre from highest ranking to lowest ranking, BUT, I want the songs within each Star rating to play in shuffle mode. In other words, I want all my 4-5 stars to play before playing any 3 star rated songs, but I want the 4-5 star songs to shuffle so I don't always hear the Playlist songs in the same order. Can iTunes do that?
