I need to sign into my apple account and try and backup my broken Iphone 5 before i go and hand it in to Best Buy . I have a passcode on my phone and my screen is broken, so i cant get into to it. The man at Best Buy said to try and back my phone up on my own computer, but im not sure how to do that.... HELPPPPP!

If I'm understanding correctly, you have an Apple TV 2 (the small, black box version of the Apple TV), and downloaded the Remote App from the iTunes Store for your iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad, correct? If so...
For the AppleTV setup, hook it up to your television and, if applicable, your Surround Sound system. To do this, you'll use an HDMI cable (not included, available here) to hook the AppleTV to your Television. The cable only fits one way, and should slide effortlessly into place. If, and only if, you intend to use your surround sound system with the AppleTV, you will also need what's called a TOSLINK Optical Cable (also not included, available here). This cable goes from the AppleTV to a port labelled Optical In or Digital In on the back of your surround receiver (consult the manual that came with your surround sound system for additonal help).
From here on, we'll focus on hooking up the AppleTV, then how to setup the Remote App from Apple on your iOS device.
The AppleTV needs a network connection in order to function correctly. A wired connection is recommended, but Wi-Fi is built-in to the AppleTV if a wired connection isn't available. With the AppleTV plugged into your television, follow the on-screen instructions for setup. To connect the AppleTV to your Wi-Fi network, you'll need to know the name of the network you want to connect to, as well as any password needed to connect to it. When the AppleTV has a network connection, it'll load the latest selection of TV Shows, Movies and Music for display on the main menu - that's the easiest way to tell everything's working.
For the Remote App, all you need to do is download the free application to a compatible iOS device (Any iOS device running iOS 3.1.2 or higher). Once downloaded, go to the computer hosting your iTunes library, and turn on Home Sharing. Finally, start the Remote App on your iOS device (be it iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch), login with the same information you setup Home Sharing with, and away you go! The Remote App is entirely optional, since the AppleTV can be controlled by the included remote control, but it's a nice touch nonetheless.

After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains helpful advice concerning payment information. Removing the payment information from your Apple ID will remove the data from the various stores.

Sync the Apple TV from the Apple TV?

I have mine setup for almost complete streaming (as they don't make a 650GB Apple TV yet), so whenever it decides to 'disconnect' itself or 'hiccup' or any other technical terms for 'lost live connection to my library on the other side of my house', I have to get up and walk to the other side of my house to initiate a sync using iTunes.
9 times out of 10, the Apple TV is still listed in 'Devices' and the connection is fine, I just need to sync it so I have the latest list of available media, and it seems to me a simple thing to add to the Apple TV menu so that I don't have to walk across my house every time this happens...
Has anyone else wished for this, or am I overlooking an easy solution? Thanks!

Hi cindyhildy, follow these instructions below it has fixed my issue and should work for you.
Open app store, get the message "unable to connect to iTunes store", go to settings, change year to the last year it will let you (think I went to 2038), double tap home button and close app store, go to home screen and then open app store and touch updates panel, should get a message "cannot get secure connection to server or something like that" go back to settings and reset the year to current.

You will have to sign in to I cloud on any of the iOS device with version 5 or above once with your Apple Id to use your Apple Id as I cloud account. So if you have an iPhone iPad or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later.
On your iOS device go to settings > I cloud and sign in and you should be able to use your Apple Id as an icloud Id.

If it's not on the device list, it indicates that someone has gone to Find My iPhone on icloud.com and manually deleted it from the device list (as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0eeddd), and it has not gone back online since (which would cause it to reappear on the device list; Find My iPhone has been turned of in settings on the device; the iClolud account has been deleted from the device; or the entire devices has been erased and restored.
Unfortunately, there's no other way to track the phone other than through Find My iPhone. You could call your carrier and see if they would blackliste it so at least the theif couldn't use it.

You should be able to find that lost iPhone with the Find My iPhone. It will let you locate the iPhone on a map or play a tone in case it’s under a couch cushion.

Just login the https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ and change your Apple Id's Password, and if you receive any such Emails in future do not provide your Personal Details and report the same to Apple Immediately.
