How do i sign out of an old apple account so i can begin using my new apple account

Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)

  • How do you sign out of your old apple id if your old id is no longer valid?

My old Apple id is no longer valid as the email I used has been discontinued by the service provider. I now use a new apple id to log onto my devices and FaceTime but unable to do the same for iCloud. It keeps asking for my old Apple id password which a) I have forgotten and b) i can no longer retrieve given as the old Apple id is invalid.
    What do i do?

If I've forgotten to sign out of iCloud on my iDevices, all I have to do is log into appleid.apple.com  with [email protected], rename my Apple ID to  [email protected] (skip verifying) go to settings then iCloud & sign out (It will be your current password incase you didn't know...) it will allow you to do so..
If I on the other hand, create a NEW Apple ID & not rename it, best options to call apple & have them assist with trying to reset password so you can sign out.
It isnt made clear to me in his question. (In my opinion) He does say "my new Apple ID" but people can call their newly renamed emails/ Apple IDs, their new Apple ID..

How do I sign out of my old ID & sign in w/ my new Apple ID. My old ID that is no longer valid is what shows when I want to update some apps.

    On your iPad...
Settings > iTunes and App Store > Apple ID = Sign Out...
Then Sign In using the preferred Apple ID.

I changed my apple Id email because I needed a more recent email and forgot my old password, now I need to sign out of my old Apple Id and don't know how. Help???

Make sure you are signed into iMessage and FaceTime with your current ID.  If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.)  Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID).  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).

  • If I bought more space on the iCloud under a old apple id but I am using a new one will that space be with my new id?

I bought more space for my iPad 2  but I was logged in under a old apple id. I am using a new id. Will my iPad have the space when I back it up? Or can I change my new id to the space I just bought?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your iPad will only back up to the iCloud account it is logged into, you cannot transfer additional space purchased under one account to another.

  • How do I sign out of an unknown icloud account on my iphone 5?

My iphone recognizes my current apple id, but I can't restore my phone due to Find My Iphone being on. I can't turn Find My Iphone off because the icloud account listed is not mine (different from my current apple id), and is preventing my from accessing icloud at all. The icloud account listed was an old account of mine, that i lost all information/access to (completely). Is there any way of signing out of this unknown icloud account without a password?

You need to either contact Apple's Account Security team, or if you're the device's original owner, ask Apple to unlock it.

  • What if I didn't sign out of my old Apple ID before I changed it and got a new one?!?!!?

So I decided to change my Apple ID, which I shouldn't have, on my laptop but I didn't sign out of my old one on my iPod Touch 5g so now it's causing problems!!!! I can't download apps!!! I also can't update apps!!!!! So could someone please help me please??!!? That would be great!!!!! This is very stressful!!!!

    Content and Apple IDs -
Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with another Apple ID with a new ID.
    Apple ID security issues -
Call Apple Care and ask for the Account Security Team. They can assist you with your issue.

  • How do I sign out of the App Store so that I can sign back in with the correct apple ID?

I needed to change my apple ID, which I did through Apple support today. Now I need to get out of the default old ID to update my apps. How do I do that? The correct ID is showing in the settings section.  Thanks!

Then it seems like you may have set up a new Apple ID. You didn't change the Email address associated with the old Apple ID. Purchased content is always tied to the ID that was used to buy that content. If the old ID is still coming up, you will have to continue to use that ID and password in order to update those apps.
Did you try using the old password with that ID? How did you change your ID today.... what support are to referring to that you changed the ID from/with?

  • How do i sign out of skype if the account is signe...

Basically, i have my skype signed in on someone elses phone and i was just wondering if i change my password will that then sign them out or will they stay signed on? If they stay signed on is there anything i can do to make them sign out?

Hi, Ben.Lunn, and welcome to the Community,
Changing your account password will force a sign-off, however you can also type these two chat commands in any open instant message chat:
    /showplaces
Lists other instances where this Skype name is currently signed in.
    /remotelogout
Sign out all other instances except the current one. This will also stop push notifications on all other instances.
    Regards,
    Elaine

  • My iPhone 5c was signed up with an old Apple account by mistake.

When I first got my iPhone, I accidentally gave he Verizon rep the wrong Apple ID.  Now I can't get my Messages that are sent to my iPad to go to my iPhone.  I want to change the phone settings so my iPad, iPhone and iMac will all sync together.
From reading other sites, I understand I might have to lose everything on my phone.  That's fine, I can start fresh, but don't know how to go about it.
    Would appreciate any help.

how do i sign out of hotmail on ipad2 so another user can sign in, know this is not a very technical question but it is frustrating

You don't sign out without deleting and recreating the email account.  Setup a second hotmail account.  iPads are not designed as multi-user devices.

    Hi sharonpalencia,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand it can be very frustrating when you cannot sign in, or sign out in this case, to your Apple ID. In this situation you may need to temporarily edit your Apple ID back to the original email address so that you can sign out. Once signed out, edit the Apple ID back to the new email address and sign in. Please use the attached article for further information.
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud
    Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.
If you're still asked for your previous Apple ID password, continue to the next step.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • I cant sign in to i-cloud with my new apple id  i signed out of the old one and when i try to log in i just get the 'thinking about it' logo. this lasts for ages and doesn't sign me in.  help!

Hi, i have recently purchased an i-phone 4s and had been merrily playing away and set up an i cloud account.  However when i tried to access i cloud from my pc i couldn't verify it.  I had to change my apple id because i no longer had access to my old e-mail.  I managed to sort out my i-phone and change all the  accounts to my new apple i.d (except game centre? don't know how to do that yet.)  but when i signed out of my old i-cloud account on my pc and tried to sign in with my new apple id it just tries to connect (i get the i'm thinking about it wheel) for ages; not allowing me to log on.
    Help!

Content (apps, music, ibooks, films etc) is tied to the account that originally downloaded it, so if the iBooks app was downloaded using the account that you used to share with your ex then only that account can download updates to it. As it's a free app you could delete it and re-download it under your own account - and then re-download your ibooks into it (or copy the books to your computer's iTunes first via File > Transfer Purchases and then sync them back to the app).
