How do I slow down video playback in quicktime 10.0?

  I'm running OS 10.6.8.
I tried going to the Window dropdown menu, but there is no option for A/V controls, as in other types of quicktime.  Also, I cannot download the other versions of quicktime (such as 7.x) from the website because QT 10.0 is installed.  Any suggestions?  Alternatively, does anyone else know of a good software I can use to play a mp4 file at 0.8x speed?

QT X does not have an A/V control feature.
Also, I cannot download the other versions of quicktime (such as 7.x) from the website because QT 10.0 is installed.  Any suggestions?
You are attempting to download QT 7 for Leopard. You must download the QT Player app that is compatible with the QT structure embedded in Snow Leopard (or Lion) operating system. You will find the player application for Mac OS 10.6.3 and later HERE and the instructions for installation, if needed, HERE. Remember that this version of QT 7 is installed in the "Applications > Utilities" folder.

  • How can I slow down the playback speed of selected parts of a captivate video?

    Hi everybody,
I'm pretty new to Captivate and although it offers some great tools, there is something that I just can't get to work:
I'm creating a video tutorial about how to use a website i'm working with so I've tried using "Automatic" ("Demo" mode chosen) recording option which is recommended for this type of video. However, the video recorded has a different playback speed than the amount of time I recorded. This means that some of the slides have a quicker playback speed than the way I recorded, thereby not leaving enough time to show the given feature.
The recording mode with the most "true" playback was "Full motion". However, I would still like to be able to slow down selected parts of the video, but can only find guides on how to slow down the entire presentation.
Can you please advise me on how to slow down only selected parts of the project? If this is not possible in Captivate, please advise me on which video editing software (where you can slow down the playback speed on selected parts of the video) is compatible with Captivate 5?
    Thanks!

Thank you. Andrew Kramer's Video Copilot video, which I somehow managed to miss, was very helpful.
I had a 79 second clip which I precomposed and enabled time remapping. But I have 12 places where I need to slow down the layer. After a while, I was runing out of room to add more keyframes using the method promoted in many videos and instruction sites (grab the last two keyframes, including the end frame, and drag).
In reality, you can add keyframes wherever you like and you can adjust them however works best within the existing timeline without messing with the duration, etc.
    Much appreciated.

Do you want free or do you want the best, your original post said best, now you are saying free. This is a contraction, there is no such thing as best free. There is such a thing as free and such a thing as best.
Also is your focus video or photos?????

    Thanks.

Try using the following code after each time you write to the TextArea.  I am assuming you are using a TextArea component and are trying to control the position of where it is scrolled to when it refreshes with the chat data.
"ta" is the instance name of the TextArea
    ta.verticalScrollPosition = ta.maxVerticalScrollPosition;

  • Is there a way to slow down the playback of video in Captivate 5?

I just made several recordings (FMR) and would like to slow them down for the viewer.  The video was actually of someone else's software demo that moved way too fast.  On the Captivate skin there is "2x" to move the video twice as fast, but no "1/2x".  Is there another way to slow down the video?
    Thank you!

    No.  Not there.  Honest.

  • Speed up / Slow down video in Motion?

Hi I have motion 2.1 and am wondering if there is a way to speed up or slow down a video in motion. I have a video where I want the people to move to the beat of the music playing in my project.
    Thx in advance.

Thanks It was actually really easy to find the speed I wanted. (People are already dancing in the clip just slow). I just opened the file and went to the modify menu and went down to speed and found the speed I wanted.
But, having never used FCP much I am stuck trying to save the clip so I can use it in motion.
When I go to the file menu it has everything greyed out except "export" which only allows "quicktime conversion" option.
I tried using that and it only exported the audio. The video was blue screen.
    I guess i'm asking...
How do you save or export a movie after speeding it up in FCP?
    Thx for any assistance.

  • How do I slow down a clip, smoothly from full-speed to full-stop, then speed up again?

I know that I can adjust the speed of a clip, but what I can't figure out how to do easily is make the clip slow down smoothly, as though time was freezing over a period of say 10-seconds, until it stops.
My way of describing this (although I know it's easier than this) is to individually clip each frame and set each frames speed at 99%,98%,97%,96% until 0%
I have read there is a way of doing this by automation, but wonder if someone can tell me how it is done?
Thanks for the help, cheers, MP.

  • How can I "slow down" portions of a layer?

I am modifying a composition template. It has only a few layers but four folders with numerous layers in each. I want to "slow down" the frames at certain points in the layer then resume normal speed. I am guessing that I can do this on the layer of the "top level timeline" without going into individual placeholders, etc., by manipulating frame rates somehow just for certain portions of the layer. This obviously results in a longer composition and that's another factor to consider.
What is the best and easiest way to do this? I am hoping that there is another way besides frame freezing or holding. I am using AE CS4.
    With sincere thanks,
    Paul

  • In iMovie '11 how do I slow down my credits at the end of my movie.  I typed them in, but the speed is too fast.

I have iMovie '11, and I can't find how to slow down the "credits" I've typed in at the end of my movie.  I guess
it would be the scrolling speed.

Credits scroll at the speed that is necessary for the scrolling to complete by the end of the clip.  So, to slow them down, simply prolong the duration of the scrolling credits title clip by selecting and draggging out the yellow boundary.
    Geoff.
