I have a MacBook 6,1 and have a number of start up discs. How can I find out which one came with my model?

They sometimes have that information on the label. Otherwise, it's trial and error. The model you have is a Late 2009 13" MacBook. It came with a special version of 10.6.1 pre-installed.

I think this will help if you are using version 11 or 12.
Make a selection with a selection tool of the area you want to remove.
Example: rectangular marquee tool - make a rectangle.
    Use Select>Refine Edge:
Use the View section of this dialog box to see a few views.
If you need to refine the edge of the selection (smooth, feather, shift, etc.) you can do that in this dialog box.
You may want to check the box about remembering your settings in case you need to come back to them.
In the Output section, you can pick New Layer with Layer Mask and click OK.
You should see the hole in your image.

  • How do you smooth the edges of an image

    Hi,
How do you smooth the edges of an image, like the question mark edges?
    Regards Peter

You could duplicate the image (Ctrl+J)
Then apply some blur (Filter >> Blur >>Gaussian Blur)
That will blur the whole image so apply a layer mask and invert (press Ctrl+I)
Set foreground color chip to white and select the brush and choose a very small diameter. Then brush gently over the edges to reveal the blur.
You can switch the color chip to black to undo a mistake then back to white to continue.
Alternatively simply select the blur tool from the tools pallet (keep pressing the R key to tab tool choices) and blur the edges as wanted. It’s a little more crude but will probably do the job.

  • How do you smooth out lines in Photoshop CS5

I have some black and white line art drawings. The lines are not smooth and sharp, and instead have tiny jagged edges. I tried using the smudge tool, and that does smooth out the lines but it also makes the lines a little sloppy. That's probably how the Smudge Tool got its name. Is there a way to use this incredible software to create smooth lines? I've learned how to create paths, but I can't figure out how to use the paths to change the line art. Maybe this is what I'm looking for?

If I understand your question correctly then the answer is yes.
You can create an arbitrary path whose shape, open or closed, can remain editable throughout your session and it can be duplicated if needed.  That path can then be stroked with a pixel painting or editing tool. Lets say you create a new layer and stroke a path with a colored brush. You can then add a style to that layer, move that same path and add a different stroke on a second layer and then duplicate the path, move it and edit its shape and then do yet another stroke and style on a third layer. This is what I've done in the image below showing the stroke & styled paths as well as the vector path in the bottom path.
Once a path has been stroked to a layer and has had a layer style applied it is only editable as pixels, but the shape remains as a path which can re restroked or moved or reshaped so flexibility is high.

  • How do you smooth out a coat?

Having a hell of a time figuring out how to smooth out the arm of this coat. thanks

One technique I like, which fits in with the frequency separation thing JJ talks about is this:
    1.  Switch to 16 bits/channel and a linear color profile.
    2.  Mask so just the arm is showing.  The Quick Select Tool works well for this.
    3.  Refine Edge to get it into a new layer
    4.  Do a Filter - Other - High Pass, choose a radius that shows the wrinkles, but not too large.
    5.  Image - Adjust - Invert.
    6.  Change the blending mode to Overlay and watch the tight wrinkles magically get smoothed out.
To take it a bit further...
    7.  Flatten the above.
    8.  Mask the arm again, Refine Edge to make it a new layer.
    9.  Filter - Noise - Median until it is very smooth.
    10.  Hide the unnaturally smooth looking parts with a dark color in the mask.
Something like this isn't too difficult to achieve...  Took me longer to write about it.

  • How do I find out if my camera is compatible with iphoto?

I don't really know much about cameras or iphoto so I need to find out if my camera is compatible with iphoto. It's a panasonic that is a few years old. Where do I go to find this out?

    skittlesdrummer219
    Here's a non-complete list
    http://www.appleclub.com.hk/iphoto/compatibility/camera.html
which mentions no Panasonics at all. However, I'm in the process of buying one because even if the camera won't directly connect with iPhoto, I can use a USB card reader - which I actually prefer - to load the pics into iPhoto.
    Two things to try:
    1. Connect your Camera to your Mac and switch the camera on. Does iPhoto Launch? Does the Camera show up as a disk on the desktop?
    2. Take the card from the camera and pop it into a Card reader attached to your Mac. Does it show on the desktop as a disk?
IF your Mac can see the Camera Card in either scenario, you can use it with iPhoto.

  • How does YouTube smooth out movie footage?

I've produced a number of movies shot with camcorders and other cameras and the result at times has been shaky footage which does spoil them especially when viewed on a large screen TV.
The same movies sent to YouTube after they've enhanced the footage by steadying it are vastly improved and I've always wondered what technology they use to achieve this.
iMovie's offering doesn't seem to be as effective.
Does anyone have any suggestions how their technology works or can tell me if there's apps about that can remove judder effectively?
    Many thanks,
    TonyT

That guy is, for my stadards, a bit ... over-excited .. but explains it very well, for ordinary people like me:
    https://youtu.be/BgAdeuxkUyY
YouTube itself published - while ago - a video, very impressive, which demoes those 'virtual camera'-thingie that Tom mentions in his report ... can not find it anymore (frankly: my bookmarks are a mess!!), it was a walk thru some garden/restaurant, stairs up, stairs down, handheld, and after stabilzatiion smooth like silk.
Asks for incredible computation power... but, if Youtube has anything, than it's that! ...
btw: I know people, uploading their shaky stuff to YT, let it stabilize, and download it again for further editing .... .
Pros do recommend a plug-in (for FCPX), named Lock&Load ... I'm relying on my cams stabilizer, which does some marvel.
    And my rock-solid tripod!

  • How do you smooth out keyframes?

I used the record button and tracked text with a object on the video.
When the text moves across the canvas it is jittery because of so many keyframes.
    How do I fix that?
Also how do I select a bunch of keyframes at once on the canvas? Every time I tried to select multiple keyframes it moved the video underneath.
    Thanks

    I got it.
I put a Average Parameter on the position of the text.
It took away all the keyframes and now the text travels across the screen smoothly.

  • How do I smooth out the graph?

    Hi
I am using Component works version 1.1 with visual C++. I plot 3D data on CNiGraph3D control. My graph looks grainy. It looks like it's drawing a diamond at each plot point. So when the data between the adjacent points has a large delta, the color contrast between those 2 points is large. Is there a way to smooth/blend in the contrast?
    Thank you

I would recommend installing the evaluation version on another PC, other than the one used for development, just to be safe. You can only have one version of the activex controls per machine. So you cannot develop with the 1.1 version and 7.1 version of the ActiveX controls at the same time. This is due to the nature of activex controls.
Measurement Studio does not install any device drives. Since you are testing the upgrade, I would recommend you try your application with the newest version of the GPIB driver. I do not anticipate any breaking changes between the 1.1 and 7.1 versions of the CWGPIB control, but it would be a good thing to verfiy anyway.
    I hope this helps.

  • How can I smooth out the pixelation of my drawing?

I’m trying to create a line drawing effect similar to image 1 below .I have studied numerous you tube videos but my images end up looking to pixilated (see image 2). Image 1 has more of a that line drawn look of a pen tool. I would like to be able to run the effect as an action.

One thought...  You could use the Photoshop CS5 Mixer Brush and paint over the lines.
Work at a higher resolution.  A tablet would no doubt help; I have only a mouse.

  • How do I smooth black and white scanned image?

I am trying to edit some scanned images that appear to be printed on linen with the pixels showing.  I scanned them at the highest quality possible but that didn't help.  So, I tried editing using the blur feature.  Not only is that quite time consuming but I fear I am losing some of the quality of the image by doing it this way.  Where do I begin and what steps do I follow to take out the checkered effect?

Whats the size of scanned TIFF?
Share metadata of scanned file in case possible ...

  • How can I smooth a clip with part cut out?

How can I smooth a clip with part cut out?  Someone walked in front of the camera when I was shooting; I removed the frames with the person in them, but this left a slight visual hiccup.  What's the best way to smooth this out in APE12?

If you do not have a "cut-away," as Steve mentions, then with those problem Frames removed, I would add a Cross-Dissolve between the two Clips (two Clips, after you have cut out the offending footage), BUT, one thing to consider with any Dissolve Transition, is Handles. You need enough to allow for the Transition - so you might need to Trim the first Clip a few Frames more, and the following Clip, a few Frames less. For a bit more on Handles, see this article: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3727485#3727485
Good luck, and hope that helps.
