How do I sort photos by camera model?

HappyNew Year all!
I have photos from 4 cameras in Aperture. Each a different model, and since 2 of the cameras belong to my son and daughter, I'd like to sort their photos into a different folder and export them off my Mac, and onto theirs. So how to I go about this?
thnaks for your help!
Mike

Mike,
create a smart album for each of the cameras:
From the main menu bar:
File > New > Smart album
and in the Smart Settings HUD add an EXIF rule and set it to "Camera Model includes ....".
Then select the images in each separate album and use "File > Export " to export the images to a folder.

Léonie

How can I sort photos within an event? When I follow the Help instructions, I can sort manually in Photo format, but when I return to Event format, the original order is restored.

Events are organisation for those who can't really be bothered. They are automatic - based entirely on Date and Time the camera records the photos as taken.
You can move photos between Events, you can Merge Events, you can Rename them and sort them in various ways except one: You cannot manually sort in an Event as Events are all automated.
If you want to manually sort in an Event then you've outgrown Events as an organising tool. Now it's time to look at albums (Where you can manually sort) which are much more flexible than Events as an organising tool.

How do you sort photos by face/name on iPad2?

iPhoto is designed to work with photos from cameras, and so seeks the date in the Exif metadata that the camera writes to the file.
There is no way to organise photos by the date they were imported to iPhoto.

Sorry that is not possible because the album uses a backup from camera roll,so if you delete any photo in camera roll it will be delete the same picture in the album.

  • How can I sort photos by file name in Photos?

New Photos seems to be very limiting, even compared to iPhoto.  How can I sort photos by filename?  Many photos that worked in iPhoto, can't be viewed in Photos.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Titles don't use the filename any longer, but if you must have them you might be interested in Léonie's script here.

how do I delete photos from camera roll but keep same photo in album

You can't. The albums that you created on the iPad do not actually contain copies of the photos, but merely pointers to those photos. If you remove the photos from the camera roll, they will be removed from the iPad. Albums on the iPad are simply for your own organization on the device. Those albums cannot be imported to your computer either, since the photos do not exist in the albums.

How can i sort photos by date taken, not date created?

I'd like this feature as well. I tend to browse my photos by date in Aperture, but on ios thay always appear in some bizzare random order.
I've tried several workarounds but with no luck. As metadata is present, surely this should be simple...

iPhoto:  How can I sort photos within an event.  I can't figure out how to activate the Manual Sort button.

Only albums can be sorted manually. Events can only be sorted automatically according to one of the predefined settings "Date, Keywords, Title, Rating".
If you need a manual sort order, selectaall photos in the event and create an album: File > New Album

  • How do I sort photos WITHIN folder view?

Okay, I'll admit, to me, Adobe has always been defined as "too many features and too confusing to me," but I'll give it a shot.
I looked through help, etc. and I have a seemingly simple question - how do I sort photos, new to old, WITHIN folder view of the browser? I don't WANT to show ALL my photos, just folder by folder, oldest to new, NOT by filename!
This is a simple right-click context menu in Paint Shop Pro, has been for many versions. Why can't I find how/where to do this in Photoshop Elements? It's the kind of thing that makes simpletons like me keep running away from complex Adobe products.
Help me, SOMEONE, through this seemingly simple task and... I'll be most appreciative.

    >how do I sort photos, new to old, WITHIN folder view of the browser? I don't WANT to show ALL my photos, just folder by folder, oldest to new, NOT by filename!
Well since folders are not the primary method of using the Photo Browser in Elements, I don't think that folder view has everything that you want.
If you want to look at a single folder in this sequence you could use the Instant Tag function to apply the tag to all photos in that folder, then use a Tag search by clicking on the box to the left of the tag that is the folder name and then choose oldest first while displaying just the photo files from that folder. This may sound long, but it takes lees time to do than it takes to type a description.

Camera roll is the master list of all photos in the app.  When you place a photo in an album, it's still in the camera roll.

  • How do i import photos from camera without iPhoto

how do i import photos from camera without iPhoto

You can import pictures from the device using Image Capture:
Connect the iOS device to the computer.
If Image Capture does not open automatically, you can navigate to your Applications folder and open Image Capture from there.
Choose the location to which you'd like to import pictures.
    Click Options.
Click the Options tab if it isn't already selected.
Enable the option "Delete items from camera after downloading".
Note: Deleting photos after importing helps to reduce Camera Roll size, and it improves backup and restore times. You may choose Keep Photos if you wish to import the photos to additional computers.
    Click OK.
    Click Download All.
If you have Aperture, you can use it to import your photos. See the Aperture User Guide for more information.

How do I move photos from camera roll to photo stream

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Photostream only adds photos taken after photostream activation, it doesn't do video at all.
To transfer photos from your camera roll taken before activation to your Mac, connect the device by USB and import your photos and videos through iPhoto.

  • How do i move photos from Camera roll to My photo stream on i4s

how do i move photos from Camera Roll to My photo Stream and then make sure all photos go strait to my photo stream

    Hi Bobnbo,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you want the photos in your Camera Roll to be moved to My Photo Stream. The article linked below answers a lot of frequently asked questions about My Photo Stream, it should answer your question and give you some other general information you may be interested in also.
    iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486
When do photos upload to My Photo Stream?
When you turn on My Photo Stream on your devices, all new photos you take or import to those devices will automatically push to your photo stream.
iOS devices: New photos that you take automatically upload to your photo stream when you leave the Camera app and connect to Wi-Fi. My Photo Stream doesn't push photos over cellular connections.
Macs: Any new photos you import to iPhoto or Aperture automatically upload when you connect to Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Or you can change your iPhoto or Aperture preferences so that only photos you manually add to My Photo Stream upload.
PC with iCloud Control Panel 2.1 or later: Open a Windows Explorer window and, under Favorites, select iCloud Photos if you're using iCloud Control Panel 3.0 or later (or Photo Stream if you're using 2.1 to 2.1.3). Open My Photo Stream. Click the Add photos button. Select the photos to import to My Photo Stream, then click Open.
    I hope this helps.

  • How can I delete photos from camera roll to give me more storage

I Upgraded to an iPhone 4 from a 3GS (mainly because it was a 99¢ promotion).  I have only a little over 1GB—maybe less—left and it doesn't have music on it yet.  I figured my photos are the answer but can't figure out how to delete them from the camera roll.  Any body out there know how?.  Also other ways of getting more room on my 4?  I know a 4s comes with more unless someone gives one away, or another 99¢ promotion comes along I can't afford it on a fixed income.
    THanks!
