How do I sort photos by filename. I have some 5000 photos involved in different albums

I have many albums each that need sorting by filename. Any advice?

Is this with iPhoto? Or on an iPad? If iPhoto, have you looked at the View Menu -> Sort Photos options?

I am using Aperture to make a photo book.  I have about 400 photos in the project that I am selecting from.  I want to use about 70 for the book.  I am allowed to pick and choose photos until I fill 20 pages.  Then when I select add page, I am allowed to select all the pictures in the project.  I am not allowed to select.  I think I hve to change a setting, bt what?  Thanks for the help.

David, have you enabled the "Autoflow" options? There are settings behind the cogwheel, that will automatically place unused images onto new pages. If you only want to select a few images from a large project, disable these two options:
Or start your book froman album, that only contains a selection of your images, rather than from the whole project.

  • How do I save my crop after I have developed my photo in Lightroom 4?

I'm constantly having to re-crop all of my photos. I can't find any "done" or "finish" button after I have cropped as far as I want.
Where is this button? I even hit "enter" which wasn't correct.
      Help!!

    Enter or Return should work.
The done button appears on the Toolbar. If the Toolbar is not showing, press the T key.

  • Can I choose to have some / all photos offline only?

I'm currently using Revel to upload photos from my iPhone to my Mac. I've selected the "Keep all originals" option. My initial plan was to store all my photos on my Mac and use Revel as my new alternative to iPhoto, as they are taking up space on my iPhone and I rarely look back at these photos anyway. So when I do want to occasionally view them from my phone, I could do so using the Revel iPhone app.
My problem is that I'm worried about the 2GB cloud storage limit. I've just begun uploading my photos and I'm already close to the limit. :/ The premium subscription isn't an option for me -- it's much too expensive to be sustainable in the long-run, especially because I'm only using Revel as a means of storing / archiving photos which I rarely view anyway. So I was thinking, I wouldn't mind not having access to all these photos from my phone; I just need to have them on my Mac.
    TL;DR:
So, after I reach my 2GB limit, would it be possible for me to continue using Revel (and storing photos above the 2GB limit) on my Mac only, completely offline? I understand where to find all my stored Revel photos on my Mac, but I love the app's interface. Alternatively, would it be possible for me to select which photos I want to keep on the cloud, and which ones I want to store offline on my Mac only? If possible, how?
If not, Adobe, please make this an option!

Well, there are a couple things you can do with the 2GB limitations but I'm not sure they will help you easily do what you are wanting to do here.
    1. With the Keep All Originals option turned on, once you have hit your 2GB limit in the Revel app you can save the Adobe Revel Library file  (/Users/<username>/Pictures/Adobe Revel/Adobe Revel Library.rvl) into another folder of your choice on your desktop. I would suggest renaming the file or numbering it, dating it, whatever you'd like. Then go back into the Revel app and delete the 2GB of images you have in Revel (Select All>Delete). Then upload another 2GB. save THAT Revel Library file off to the separate folder, rename it and start all over again. You can access the images in those library files with a Control + Click on the library file and selecting Show Package Contents.   There are your originals. I believe they are saved in folders based on date. You can open those originals in any photo editing software. If you want to edit them in Revel you will need to upload them back into Revel.
    2. Another option is in Revel Mac you can select alll the images then select File Menu>Export Then again you will have all your originals on your desktop
Unfortunately, with the 2GB limit you can't edit additional images with Revel offline if you are at the 2GB limit. You have to remove images to add images in order to edit.
As a note, I will be sure to pass along to the developers your suggestion of begin able to use Revel to edit offline.
    Take care,
    Glenyse

  • How do you sort Pics in Smart Folder? Photos App

How do you sort pics in a smart folder in the Photos App? Date, Name, etc.

Yes, when I do that it sorts the albums in the folder by name.
I may have misused terminology, I meant Smart Albums not smart folders, if this makes a difference.
    Thanks for your help!

  • How many characters can be in filenames

There seems to be a difference in how the MAC and PC handle filename length in our photo department. Is there a maximum character length for filenames. Where does one find out this kind of information?

  • I am recently retired and have thousands of photos I need to ? scan and put in iphoto.  What is the quickest way to do this please?

Can anybody help me organise my photos efficiently?
I have thousands of photos which I need to scan & add to my library, any suggestions?

    Scanner 100$ ( a guess)
    Your time 20$ an hour
    1 Thousand photos
1 scan =1 min (if you choose low res)
Time to figure out which resolution you want=?
Time to sort organize/agonize about keeping it?
does the scanner come with some great software that will make naming and sorting easy?
    240$ / 20$ = 12 hours
1000 minutes / 60 = 16 hours  now  I know for me it would take longer than the 1 minute to scan all those photos and you have to factor in how long it takes the scanner to scan at your given resolution and the size of the photo.
I think scan time would be a major factor for me since I know I would want the photos at a really high res. I've hardly seen a scanner/printer that is a reasonable price and quick. But they may be out there this year.
I am still going with the scan service.

I have several thousand photos in several folders. I have noticed that whenever I want to change the folder used as the side show source, it takes the Screen Saver Preference pane a very long time to respond. It is as if it is scanning all the photos in the currently assigned folder in order to display them in the preview window provided, and it gets so dogged down doing that it can't respond to my clicks on the Choose Folder option.
Assuming you don't want to redistribute your photos into a greater number of folders or subfolders so there would be fewer in each folder to process, you could try a workaround. Try moving your currently-assigned folder to your desktop temporarily, before opening the Screen Saver preference pane. If the preference pane can't find the old folder, it may immediately ask you to choose a new one. You could hopefully then do so, close the preference pane, and then put back the old folder.
It's my understanding that there will be no future updates to Tiger, only security fixes.

  • HT1918 i want change store country but i can't because i have some USD credit on it, how i can remove it?

how can i change account store country if have some money left in it, how i do i remove the remaining credit?

Either make a purchase that costs more than the balance and use a credit card to pay the rest, or contact Apple and ask them to keep the balance.
Remember that you are not supposed to use the store in another country unless you reside there.  Apple places certain technological restrictions on using the store in another country and also limits changing countries to once every 90 days.  If you are doing this so you can make one or two purchases in another country then changing countries may not work.

    No.
    Have a current backup.
Hold the option command keys and launch iPhoto to launch the First aid.
Start with repairing permissions first and proceed from there.
