How do I specify a photo in iPhoto by its date?

Question

I want to be able to to retrieve photos i iPhoto by their date property.
Referring by name goes fine.
tell application "iPhoto"
set thePhoto to photo "DSCF0121"
end tell
But how can I tell iPhoto to look for a photo with a specific date?
a codeline like the following won't work:
set thePhoto to photo with date "friday 22. july 2005 21:02:48"
Can't find anything in the AppleScript Language Guide that will give me a clue to how to do this. (I know that the AsLG have no info on iPhoto).

You can use the filter reference form - the date property of a photo contains the time also, so you need the complete date and time to get a match:
set TheDate to date "Saturday, May 24, 2008 4:31:56 AM"
tell application "iPhoto" to get photos whose date is TheDate
If you don't know (or care) about the time, you can expand the results by using the fact that IPhoto keeps it's photos sorted by date, so the image path of a photo contains the date:
set TheDate to "May 24, 2008"
tell application "iPhoto" to get photos whose image path contains TheDate
