How do I speed up searching in itunes 11?

I have 90,000+ songs and it took almost 4 minutes to type the word 'the' in the search window. How do I speed up the search because I can't browse 90k tracks.

I stumbled across the solution to my question. Uncheck 'Search Entire Library' and the search performance becomes like it was in iTunes 10. For the most part I have returned all the settings back to what I had in 10.
I would like to ask if you changed your relationship to Gracenote? When I rip a CD are you using the iTunes store metadata in preference to that of Gracenote? I have seen your style guide and it is not the best in show. Be careful as your polishers might just take all the metal away and what shine can there be after that?
I have bought everything you've offered. I've enjoyed it and will continue. I will likely ride the downfall with you. Maybe even being a hold out to what comes next. It is helpful to see that I have already purchased a song with the "buy" button no longer being available; however, I do not need to see the songs in my library from the artist that I'm searching for...please get rid of this feature. In iTunes 11.0.2.26, an Albums search by track names returns albums as if they only have one track on them, but I still want to access the entire album. How can I have the search results show the entire album (with just the searched for name highlighted)? For instance, I'm wanting to play an album with a particular track on it or I'm searching for albums that include that track. iTunes incorrectly assumes that all I'm after is that one track and then incorrectly displays the album as if there is only one ttrack on it. This is a bonkers default setting. Can I change this?

Click the search magnifying glass and uncheck "Search entire library".
Type in the name of the track.
Click the album of interest to show tracks.
Select the track.
Press the X in the search box to clear the search.
Double click the track you want to start playing first.

If you cannot find the file on your hard drive then once you delete the current broken entry you should be able to redownload from iTunes in the Cloud. This assumes the item in question qualifies. Note that audiobooks, digital booklets, iTunes LPs & Extras, ringtones, selected movies etc. don't.
If prompted don't hide the item. You may find that you need to close and then reopen iTunes before it will appear for download.

Unfortunately the only way I can think to achieve this involves the use of "UI Scripting". The other previous posters have given you the preferred method you should consider using. If you want to script iTunes so that you visually see the search take place in iTunes you'll need to use the method shown in the script I've posted below.

How do I speed up itunes?

It takes almost 45 seconds to load/start playing music. I have 45,000 mp3's and 750 full length movies, running on a MBpro 8 gig ram 3.06 core 2 duo stored on an external 2 TB drive

Hi there, I'm a newbie here and wish to know how to best choose cd's from iTunes. Specifically when searching an artist and there may be 2 or 3 cd's to choose from with 2 or 3 overlapping songs. How do I get a podcast on iTunes to show up on my iPhone?

I listen to a podcast on a website but now that I have an iPhone, I'd like to able to listen to that podcast on my iPhone but I'm unable to. That particular radio station has apps to listen to the podcast for Blackberry and Androids, but not the iPhone.
I was able to search through iTunes and found the podcast and I'm able to listen to it on my laptop, but when I'm out on the road or when I'm not using the laptop, I'd like to able to listen to the podcast on my iPhone. How do I do that? Is there some type of settings on my iPhone or iTunes that can sync the podcast to my iPhone?

In iTunes, with your phone connected, select the Podcasts and choose to sync all podcasts or selected ones. You can also determine which episodes are synced based on if they are recent, new, or unplayed.
On your phone: iTunes>More>Podcasts.

You can buy redy made ringtones from the itunes store on your iphone, under More>Tones
Other than this, you would simply be buying sounds/songs available to use as tones.
Google will find several free ways to create ringtones.

instead the iPod goes from disc 1/track 1 to disc
2/track 1.
Right click on any of these files and do a Get Info. Notice that there is, in fact, a Disc number field. So you can make disc numbers 1/10, 2/10 and so on.
iTunes and the iPod are both smart enough to recognize that there are disc numbers there and act correctly. So it'll start with Disc 1, play all that disc, then go to Disc 2, and so forth. It's just a matter of having correct disc number tags.
You can tag disc numbers for a whole disc at once. Simply select all the songs in a single disc (hold SHIFT or CTRL while selecting the songs), right click, Get Info, and you get the mass tag editor screen. Add the disc number info for this disc, and it'll tag that info to all those songs. Repeat for each disc.
