How Do i start Intelligent Agent on Unix

how do i start Intelligent Agent on Unix and how do i make it start automatically when the server comes up
Thank u

Depends on which version of Oracle your are running
Pre 9i -
Handled via the lsnrctl command
start - lsnrctl dbnsmp start
stop - lsnrctl dbsnmp stop
or lsnrctl ? for help
In addition pre 9i a data gatther process is needed to collect stats on host in 9i included with the agent
9i - Own facility
agentctl
agentctl start agent
agentclt stop agent
agentcl ? help
However you configure db and listenter to come and and down should work or see you sysadmin.

  • How to config or start Intelligent Agents for OEM

I have install the ORACLE 8.1.7 on redhat 7 successfully. Then I start the "o8ibegin" database instance, start the Oracle Management Server successfully. But, when I start the OEM by using "oemapp console", I could not discover the nodes, it tells me that I maybe do not have Oracle Intelligent Agents. I have chosen to install Oracle Intelligent Agents on install phase, and I have checked that Oracle Intelligent Agents have installed on my system.
I want to know how to start the Oracle Intelligent Agents service. I remember Oracle Intelligent Agents is a service on Windows NT/2000 version. I alos met such problem on Windows NT/2000, and when I start the Oracle Intelligent Agents service throught service applet on control panel, I resolve the problem.

    try 'lsnrctl dbsnmp_start' to start
    and 'lsnrctl dbsnmp_status' to verify

  • Manually starting Intelligent Agent Configuration Assistant and HTTP Listener

I have installed Oracle 9i on Solaris 8 and it stopped with an "Out of Memory" error during the Starter Database creation. I have fixed the memory problem and have now manually started the Database Configuration Assistant manually and managed to install a new database. Now I am trying to start the Intelligent Agent Configuration Assistant and the Apache HTTP Listener, but I cannot find out how to do this so that I can continue on with and complete the installation process from where I left off.
Do anyone know how to do this? I would appreciate any help that anyone can give.
    Thanks
    Anthony

Lets start with what product you are installing and why. An Oracle database installation, in and of itself, does not install an HTTP server.
Of course one might also wonder why you are, just now, installing software so old it is in desupport.

  • How To Start management Agent in target

I have installed Oracle 10G Database Grid Control on Windows 2003. Now I want to get the targets monitored through Repository. My targets are Unix Databases and Windows Databases in 9i and 10G.
How do I start the agent in the targets ? I tried using emctl start agent and manually modified the emd.properties file and changed the repository url to the OEM grid repository. I got few errors about the files missing and still I am seeing when I do emctl status agent, AGENT IS NOT RUNNING.
What do I have to do to get the AGENT working ? Where do the log files get created ?
    Thanks,

    Thanks for looking at it...
Also is AGENT_HOME , would be different than ORACLE_HOME, I did not install AGENT Separetely , it is just Oracle Enterprise Edition Install.

  • How to install intelligent agent

Can someone please tell me how to install the intelligent agent on the NT server 4.0 platform? I can't install the intelligent agent extension pack due to my intelligent agent hasn't been installed yet.
    Please help!

Explain what kind of installation you did. Accoding to what I know in 10g there is not an intelligent agent service to administer it explicitly.

  • Oracle Intelligent Agent does not started on RH9

    Hi Sir
I have installed Red Hat 9 and Oracle 9i Release 2 ....But When I would like to start Intelligent Agent ,I encounter with
error => ( error in loading shared libraries : libvppdc.so No such file or directory) ..
Anyway I am sure that my environment setting like LD_LIBRARY_PATH is correct and this .so file is existed in this path
    (Again same of your condition).
It will be my pleasure to help me at earliest convenience.
    Regards
    Shervin

Open up a console and login as oracle user. Execute these lines:
    $ cd $ORACLE_HOME/network/lib
    $ make -f ins_net_client.mk install
Then edit the $ORACLE_HOME/ctx/lib/ins_ctx.mk file so that lines 13-14 change from:
    ctxhx: $(CTXHXOBJ)
    $(LINK) $(CTXHXOBJ) $(INSO_LINK)
    to
    ctxhx: $(CTXHXOBJ)
    $(LINK) -ldl $(CTXHXOBJ) $(INSO_LINK)
    Then do
    $ make -f $ORACLE_HOME/ctx/lib/ins_ctx.mk install
Now you should be able to start your agents with
    $agentctl start

  • Intelligent Agent 8.1.6 and Enterprise Manager 8.1.7

I installed the Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Manager on Windows 2000 and want to connect to a database on a Dec-Unix system. My Problem: On the Unix-Server there is installed an 8.1.7 Database, but the 8.1.6 Intelligent Agent. Is it possible, and how can I get the information, wich Agent is running?
I think, I cannot connect with a never version of Enterprise Manager to an older Agent. Is this correct?

  • Starting ssh-agent on login

ssh-agent is a blessing for convenient yet secure remote access, but the standard tool to start it up on login is in my opinion overly complicated. Keychain is a script in more than 1500 lines of code for doing essentially what I do in 8 lines. It does of course have tons more features, but I don't see any reason for all of that. Here's my /etc/profile.d/ssh-agent.sh, I hope somebody finds it useful:
    # If the directory ~/.ssh/agent exists, ssh-agent is started automagically.
    # The script first checks whether $HOSTNAME-sh already contains information
    # about a running ssh-agent process, in which case nothing further is done.
    # When necessary, which should only be once per reboot, ssh-agent is started
    # and the two important variables are defined in $HOSTNAME-sh for use by
    # future login sessions.
    # Tip: Put '. /etc/profile' in your ~/.xinitrc and ~/.xsession
    # This is a good idea not only because of this script.
    if [ -d $HOME/.ssh/agent ]; then
    [ -f $HOME/.ssh/agent/$HOSTNAME-sh ] && . $HOME/.ssh/agent/$HOSTNAME-sh
    if ! [ -S "$SSH_AUTH_SOCK" ]; then
    eval `/usr/bin/ssh-agent` > /dev/null
    echo "export SSH_AUTH_SOCK=$SSH_AUTH_SOCK" > $HOME/.ssh/agent/$HOSTNAME-sh
    echo "export SSH_AGENT_PID=$SSH_AGENT_PID" >> $HOME/.ssh/agent/$HOSTNAME-sh

  • Intelligent agent won't start

We renamed the windows 2000 host on which Oracle lives and now the intelligent agent won't start. I cleared snmp_rw etc and rebooted but still no go any ideas?
    thx in advance.

Thx Pete but the emca will effect the OEM repository I am looking for reconfig of the intelligent agent to reflect the new hostname.
Daryl thx for the reminder. My DB is 9.2.0.1 on XP but the same rules apply as Unix. It turns out I missed deletion of one of the .q files which was enough to block auto-create on atleast one .q file and leave me hanging.
These are the steps I took to fixit:
    1) shutdown the agent
    2) shutdown the listener
    3) delete snmp* files under network/admin
    4) delete .q files and services.ora under network/agent
    5) restart listener
    6) restart agent
    7) re-acquire DB through OEM discovery (success)
Obviously the change of hostname has to be picked up by the IA's files. If the files do not exist at IA startup the IA creates them using current information from the host.
    thx to all.
