I'm finding more site running flash player insets with no way to kill the program except by disabling flash player. this is a royal pain having to continually disable and enable flash. is there any way to kill the player when there are no buttons or links to stop or kill the player?

Google Ads is used by plenty of services, and in the case of YouTube, is in fact owned by Google.
Usually there is an 'x' somewhere that will make it disappear, and I think there are some good add-ons that you can use to block those ads if they are bothersome to you.

Stop Adobe Flash Player installation prompts without installing Flash

I don't want to install Adobe Flash Player on my MBP, but am frequently using Safari to visit pages that contain non-essential content (eg charts) delivered via Flash. Each time I visit one of these pages, I therefore get a pop-up dialog box prompting me to install version [whatever or newer] of Flash. Each time, I have to click "cancel" on the dialog box in order to continue browsing.
Is there a way to stop these dialog boxes from appearing without having to install Flash? I suspect that I may be able to stop the boxes from appearing if I DO install Flash and then disable the plugin (clarification on this would also be helpful), but I am keen to learn whether I can avoid having to install Flash at all in the first place and still avoid the issue of constant installation prompts.
I've already tried checking the Safari options box to disable plugins (even though there aren't any at present), btw, but the issue persists.

I've heard at least one report that this might be caused by a Flash ad that was requesting a version of Flash Player that didn't exist. Could you try clearing your browser and Flash Player cache to see if this still occurs?
How do I clear my Flash Player cache and settings?
We've been trying to discover what version of the installer is being run when this occurs. Would you be willing to take a short video of this occurring so we can see what's happening?
Finally, could you post the contents of your flashinstall.log file for us to review?

A possible cause is that you do not have the latest version of the Shockwave Flash player (16.0.0.305).

How do you disassociate a phone number from iMessage without disabling iMessage completely

Hi there. I will soon be selling my current iPhone for another phone and want to remove the association between the phone number and iMessage so my girlfriend will send SMS messages to my phone from her iPhone instead of iMessages. Is it as simple as turning iMessage off in iCloud settings or does it go a bit deeper than that? I have seen a few stories on the forums of iMessages still being sent to sold or broken phones and don't want this to happen to mine.

All you need to do is turn iMessage off in settings. Also be sure to turn FaceTime off and delete your iCloud account in Settings>iCloud. (Note: deleting the iCloud account only deletes it from the phone, not from iCloud.)
Be sure to create a new backup before selling it. To be save, create a backup both in iCloud and on your computer using iTunes (by clicking on Back Up Now on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings). Then erase the phone by going to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings, or restore it as a new iPhone.

How Do I Stop Flash Player From Storing Cache?

Latest Flash Player (i just upgraded it to the latest as of today)
There are a couple of directories on my HDD that appear to be the place where Flash stores cache.
One of them is (#1):
c:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Adobe\Flash Player\AssetCache\
The other is (#2):
c:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#sharedobjects
These directories were so bloated with subdirectories that it literally took about 12 HOURS OR MORE to delete everything in them! I'm not kidding.
There must have been 100,000 subfolders or maybe even more in these folders. They were choking everything on my computer that had to read past them.
I FINALLY was able to delete everything from them after hours of work.
Now I want to keep them empty, so this doesn't happen again but I can't find out how to do that. It is so dang frustrating. I looked and looked for a way to shut this storage off.
I finally found the online "Settings Manager" and thought I FINALLY solved the problem after setting the "Global Storage" setting to "Never" and unchecking the "Allow third party Flash content to be stored on your computer" and "Store common Flash components to reduce download times" boxes.
BUT NO!!!
It didn't do a thing. I looked at those two folders again and they are still being filled up with new subfolders!!!!
UUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
How do I keep Flash Player from storing this unwanted mess on my computer?!

Before I set the global settings as I stated above, I DELETED all the "Websites already visited" from the list in Settings Manager so that ALL Websites would be set according to the global settings.
But none of that did a thing to stop the new folders from being created anyway. How do I stop them??!!!

Open flash player from terminal

Hi everyone,
i have the following problem and it drives me mad. I´m
developing a Flash game which retrieves data from a java Server.
For presentation I have both things, the server and the
Flash-Projektor on the same Computer. What I want is: Both
programms startet with on click (one doubleclick :-) ) so I tried
to start the server using fscommand but since the Server is a never
stopping Thread, Flash blocks and waits for the application to
end...which will never happen. So my new try is to start the Flash
projector from tha java server interface via runtime.exec();
everything I need now is what I have to enter in the Terminal
(using OSX!) to start a Flash projector. I just can´t figure
it out.
Another thing would be: it doesn´t have to be a
projector...could be normal swf also...then start it with a
standalone player...but same problem: how do i start a standalone
player from the terminal giving it the file he should open? Are
there parameters I can pass to it? Anybody? Help!!!

Even though it is available in beta on Adobe Labs,We can download 64-bit Flash Player from Adobe web site.
On 64-bit Win 7 ,I use the web browser plug-in of eclipse SWT to visit our web site ,
and i find the flash could not be displayed ,instead with a small red cross in the top left corner of web browser.
Then uninstall 32-bit flash player and install 64-bit version,the flash could be displayed normally.

Now I am able to view embedded videos but I don't understand exactly what I did/whether I will have issues in the future due to deleting Flash. Last flash player from Adobe seems to be broken when using with Chatroulette:
on Macbook Air camera stopped working
on iMac 27" works, but Safari takes 100% cpu (when Flash Player is running with Chatroulette)

My configuration
Mac OS 10.6.4
Flash Player: 10.1.102.64, 10,1,103,19
Safari, Chrome
I tried re-installing Flash Player, creating new account, changing language, changing browsers, running Disc Utility = nothing helped
I tried downloading Chrome because I heard there is different version of Flash Player (10,1,103,19)
Result is same.
Hardware is brand new, operating system is brand new. Everything worked until last flash update.
Please assist! Some of our users experience the same problems
As a temporary solution I have installed Adobe Flash Player 10.2 but it is unstable and our users cannot do that. However it works

This is STILL an issue.   There is something badly broken in the Mac version of Flash 10.   I have a brand new macbook pro, and had the original install of flash 9. My cameras worked fine.   When I upgraded to 10 -- and yes, I *did* uninstall the previous version -- I lost the ability to config my camera, since it stopped appearing in the control panel dialog.
I uninstalled Flash 10, saying many not-so-nice things about Adobe and their exceptionally poor QA in the process, and re-installed Flash 9.   Sure enough, my cam worked like a charm.
Hey Adobe guys:   If you are reading these forums, PLEASE try to fix this!!!! Downgrading is only a temporary fix, as more and more sites are specifically requiring for Flash 10.
