How do I stop an application under ios7?

I Used to be able to stop an application by swiping upwards, but under Ios7 this no longer works.   How can I stop applications under ios7?

That doesn't make sense.  iOS 7 introduced the upwards swipe to close Apps.
Double click the home button, and then swipe the screen shot up and off the screen.
If the upward swipe is not working, try resetting your iPad.

    Best regards,

    hi
there is no hard coded rule on which service should be started first.
the basic thing is concurrent manager uses database for starting, so i advice you the following sequence:
    1. start the database
    2. start the database listener
    3. Apache server
    4. forms server
    5. report server
    6. concurrent manager
and shutdown in the reverse order
    simple

  • How do I stop the application check everytime I open itunes?

How do I stop the application check everytime I open itunes? I have 200 apps and to have to click 200 times for every app to confirm I do not want  to replace my newer version with an older version is a serious bug!  Is there something to click off the check, I have already told the preferences to stop checking for new software!

I have resolved the problem. Steps to resolution:
    1. Deleted all applications inside the folder "Automatically added to iTunes," many of those apps were also inside the Mobile Applications folder.
    2. Next, I uninstalled iTunes, and downloaded the latest version of iTunes.
    3. Restarted the computer.
    4. Installed the newest version of iTunes.
    This repaired the problem.

How can I stop certain applications from opening automatically on restart?  I don't know when or why this began to happen but it's driving me nuts!  Thanks in adavance for any help.

Go to System Preferences -> Users and Groups -> Login Items and remove all apps from the list:

sorry this is so basic but how do I stop certain applications starting automatically on startup?

Is this for a computer model or an iDevice model? If the former you've posted in the wrong forum. But here's the answer.
Open General preferences in System Preferences. There are two options you can check that affect this behavior:
Check the boxes you thing you prefer. When you next shutdown the computer you should be asked in a dialog about reopening applications on restart. Select the option to not reopen.

One thing to check:  when shutting down or restarting, there is a checkbox in the shutdown/restart dialog which asks whether you want currently open applications to open at startup.

  • How to I stop Adobe Application Manager appearing and asking me to sign in every time I open a Creative Cloud application?

I'm all up to date and I've even tried uninstalling and reinstalling all my Adobe software. I'm on a Mac using the latest version of OSX. The issue has been happening since I switched to a different Adobe ID about a week ago.
    Thanks

Thanks for your reply. I've tried removing 'OPM.db' a few times now, restarting etc but I still have the same problem. The Application Manager still appears every time I open a CC app.
It appears twice when I open a CC application - the first time it asks me to sign in. Upon signing in, I get a 'Thank you' message. Then after the application has loaded it appears again telling me 'Don't let a good thing come to an end' and gives me the option to either 'License the software' or 'Start Trial'. I choose 'License the software' and I have to sign in again. I then get another 'Thank you' message!

  • How can I stop an uninstalled application/process from using 101% of my CPU?

A couple months ago I asked a question about my fans running loudly- which opened my eyes to the ability to force quit processes with the activity monitor. The culprit was software for an external hard drive that I was no longer using, so I uninstalled it. Problem is that my fans are running high again, almost constantly, and the process that seems to be the culprit is the same one from the software I've uninstalled. When I search my computer for any lingering files, none come up.  How can I stop an application I uninstalled from being a running process and overheating my computer?

    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory
    Running OSX 10.8

Does the wdsmartware come with an uninstaller? Or specific uninstall instructions? Most software packages come with one or the other.

When keeping the [←] key pressed, Lumia 900 shows a list of running applications.
How can I stop/quit applications listed here?
    Your answer is appreciated.

    Hi,
There is no "true multitasking" present in WP8. Apps go into freeze state once you press the back/start button.
However, if an application supports background agent functionality, that can be used to let certain features of an application to run in the background, like streaming music.
Go to setting-> Background tasks. Here you will see a list of apps that you have granted access to run a thread in the background. WP8 allows only 15 such apps at a time to conserve battery.
You can allow/block an application from running in background from here.

Hello Doubler, welcome to Apple Discussions.
    To prematurely stop an application, in order of easiness;
    1. Click and hold on the application's icon in the dock and select Quit.
    or
    2. Press Option + Command + Escape to open Force Quit. Select the app and force quit it.
    or
    3. Open Activity Monitor and quit the process.

  • How do I stop click-thru "'Firefox' is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?"?

Every single time I launch Firefox 20 under Mac OS X 10.7.5 I get the click-thru warning message "'Firefox' is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?". How do I stop this? There are internet postings and previous postings about solving this using Terminal commands for OS X 10.5.x & 10.6.x, but these commands do NOT work in 10.7.x or 10.8.x. This seems to be a Firefox ONLY issue, and solving it by globally turning off OS X security features as recommended before in a previously closed thread seems like a really BAD solution. Is there a "Firefox only" solution, or will I just have to stop using Firefox?

I had upgraded to Firefox 20 using the automatic update process, so the last time I'd downloaded a .dmg and manually installed Firefox was a long time ago. I trashed Firefox 20, downloaded a new .dmg and manually transferred to Applications folder and this persistent message ended. I assume if I'd ever launched from the open .dmg the same error message would result, so the fix offered was a solution even though the cause was something different since I only used the automatic update process and never manually handled Firefox .dmg downloads.

  • Stop application under cluster for maintenance

    Hi
I  have a application which is under control of  the  cluster  and needs to be shutdown and startup manually for  maintenance like patching , how can I shutdown the application without it  causing the  resource group to switch over and start the application on another node and after  the  maintenance is   successful pass the control  back to the cluster
    TIA

    Hi,
when doing planned maintenance (like applying a patch or upgrading the application software) for an application under cluster control, the safest way is to:
disable the cluster resource (clrs disable <resourcename>)
    perform the maintenance
verify everything is working as expected
enable the cluster resource again (clrs enable <resourcename>)
There is also the possibility to suspend the whole resource group, where the application resource is configured in, by doing a "clrg suspend <resourcegroupname".
Then the cluster framework will not try to restart this resource group or trigger failover for it.
The resource group can be resumed by "clrg resume <resourcegroupname>".
But here it really depends on the scope of change you apply to an application, if the data service monitor for the application resource can really continue to perform monitoring as before.
In some cases the data service monitor is not only probe based, but does also perform PMF based monitoring, ie. it monitors the specific process ids (pids) that got started by its start method.
If you then manually stop the application, PMF might no longer see any of those pids, and thus determine a failed resource.
That is why in general for performing maintenance on an application, you should start with disabling the resource. And enable it back once the maintenance is finished.
    Regards
