How do I stop auto sync of my iPad?

How do I get my iPad to not automatically start syncing when I plug it into iTunes? My iPhone doesn't autosync, but I can't figure out how to do this with the iPad. Thanks!

It's an iTunes option. Connect the iPad and select it on the left side of iTunes.
On the "Summary tab at the top, uncheck "Open iTunes when this iPad is connected" You can also go thru the tabs and uncheck sync "contacts, calendars, mail", Apps, Movies, Music, Tv shows, Podcasts, books, and photos depending on what you want to do.

  • How do I stop auto-sync?

I need to get my Mac to stop auto-syncing my Address Book (so that you don't see those arrows spinning up on my menu bar). Any ideas?
    Thanks,

Ok, ever since I plugged my new iPad into my MacBook, my MacBook kept popping up messages about merging my Yahoo contacts with Address Book. I resisted these constant pop up messages for over a week and then I finally gave in and said "Fine, do it!" So then I checked Address Book on the MacBook and it's duplicated most of my contacts many times over. Around 10 times each. I figured it was an error so I went and deleted all of the copies. I noticed this arrow thing spinning on my menu bar later on that day (syncing MobileMe) and so I canceled the sync. After that I checked Address Book and all those contacts were copied all over again. Now it's been about two weeks and each of those contacts has 94 copies each(!!!). I don't have MobileMe so when I go into my System Prefs I can't edit it to stop doing this syncing process since it's asking me for my member name and password. So frustrating!
I hope that made some sense to you.
    Thanks,
    Raymond

  • How do i stop auto sync on my ipod?

I have it set for manual. I have gone into Itunes preferences and set that to not allow auto sync. I have even tried holding down control and shift when I plug my ipod in and it still starts synching. The only way I can get it to stop is to unplug it. Can someone please help! This is getting really irritating.
    Thanks
    Jen

Hopefully, after you have disable AutoSync, and have tick this Manually Manage option in the Summary screen
Then check that the Auto fill option is unticked.in the Music tab
Also disable the iTunes Auto Updates.
    Good  Luck!

  • How do I stop auto sync then sync only one item manually

I have 5 Macs. They are all set to sync using dot mac.
I hadn't used 2 of them lately, the others were being synced.
I noticed that mail had 2 of the exact smart folders (with several folders within them). And all of the criteria disappeared from the smart folders.
I wanted to get the smart mailbox criteria from the computers I had not synced lately as that was still ok.
So I thought I could turn off the syncing for mail rules, signatures and smart mailboxes by removing the check mark from that option. But immediately upon syncing, my smart mail box was replaced with 2 duplicates with no criteria available. So it seems that ignored the fact that the option was not checked when I synced.
Now I have 1 mac left. On that Mac I would like to sync bookmarks, calendars, contacts, keychains. But I would like to keep the smart mailboxes the way they are and send them to the other macs.
The problem is that my MacBook Pro is set for automatic syncing. And when I turn it on, it will connect wirelessly and automatically sync.
How do I get to it quick enough so the sync will not happen and I can put it in manual mode?
Then how do I sync just what I want to sync? And how do I then sync the smart mailboxes back to the other macs?
I don't want to turn on the MBP until I know exactly what to do.

This is actually a .Mac Sync issue, and has nothing to do with iSync. You'll find a forum for .Mac Sync users here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=957
To correct the issue you outline, you will have to start your MacBook Pro and disable AirPort at the first opportunity to prevent network connection and a subsequent synchronization event initiation.
Then, launch the System Preferences application, press the Sync tab, and select Manually from the Synchronize with .Mac: menu. Once you've done that, turn AirPort on again.
Then press the Advanced tab and wait for your registered device list to be refreshed. Press the Reset Sync Data… button in the lower left corner of the dialog box. From the Replace: menu, choose the Mail Rules, Signatures and Smart Mailboxes data descriptor that identifies the information you want to transfer from your MacBook Pro to the rest of the synchronization pool.
Press the right-faccing arrow so that the animated orange arrow moves from left to right, and the label changes to read On .Mac with sync info from this computer. Then press the Replace button to propagate your smart mailbox structures to .Mac and your other sync clients.
Remember that Automatically means essentially whenever a change is made, and in any event, no less than once each hour. Any change, even an inadvertent one, will propagate through the synchronization pools when an event is triggered, so you will want to carefully consider your selection of that option.

  • Itunes 10 will not stop auto syncing

I have itunes 10 on a mac and a 160 gb ipod classic.
it will not stop auto syncing when I plug in my ipod, even though "do not auto Sync" button is checked as well as checking off "do not open itunes automatically.
It syncs FOREVER. I would love to find a way to stop this from happening. I dread plugging in my ipod to put on new music etc.

I have had this problem with Windows 7 and iTunes updates for some time. Each time it takes hours to solve but with the over the air upgrade to IOS6 on my iPhone and iPad, I was determined to solve and remember what I did, So here it is:

  • How do you stop auto play only go to next slide on click once published Version 7

How do you stop auto play only go to next slide on click once published Version 7? I mean to stop the play slide bar moving down the bottom?

Thank you, I already have click boxes and buttons on every slide - the slider at the bottom still automatically moves, it doesn't go to next slide until button or box is clicked. I want to stop it moving if possible?
Update: looks like it does the same on the old versions - I'm assuming its the time set to play each slide. I will just even these up so the don't look so inconsistent.

How can I stop auto download of attachments without tapping on them? Once I open a mail, the attachment automatically starts downloading, though it is written as "tap to download". Please help..

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to prevent the automatic downloading of the SD version when you buy an HD show.
You can, if you wish, suggest that the ability to prevent the SD version from downloading through the iTunes feedback page. But since the SD version is needed for use on iPods and there at least at present is no mechanism for someone to download the SD version at a later time should they decide they need it, Apple may just continue to force the downloading of both versions. If they get enough feedback on the issue, though, they may figure something out.
    Regards.

  • Question:  How do I stop the syncing of/get rid of MobileMe?

Question:  How do I stop the syncing of/get rid of MobileMe?

If you haven't yet signed out in System Preferences>MobileMe go there: go to the iDisk pane and if you have iDisk Syncing running, stop it. Go to the Sync pane and turn off all syncing. Then go to the Account pane and sign out.
Also go to iPhoto and/or Aperture if applicable and if they have an accounts section in Preferences remove MobileMe from it (not all versions do).
If you have already signed out you won't be able to sign back in to do this. In that event, or if the above doesn't work, go to (user)/Library/Preferences/ByHost and remove all .plist files beginning with com.apple.DotMac and com.apple.idisk.

How can I stop auto deletion of messages from my inbox?
I've tried to fix this by changing the IMAP account's Junk settings so that they are moved either to the
    "Junk" folder on 'account name'
    or
Other: (drop down list for choosing accounts and one of its folders) Junk on 'account name'
I am sure I lost all of my important, not junk mail, amazon.com messages as well as other messages from comercial sites.
Secondly: Please tell me what the difference is between the 2 junk folder choices above.
