How do I stop AutoImporter launching?

How do I stop AutoImporter launching?
I use Aperture3 and have it set to launch when my camera or CF cards are connected to my laptop. But recently AutiImporter launches as well and automatically downloads the whole card to a folder in Pictures at the same time as Aperture3 downloads them.  So my question is how do I stop AutoImporter from starting up when I turn on my laptop. Unlike Aperture there is not an option in AutoImporter's Preferences to disable it.
I have AutoImporter Version 6.1 (1.0).
I have drilled down into Library -> Image Capture -> Support  but there is no  > Application in the Support folder.
Thanks for reading,
Jules

I realised that if you launch Image Capture you can use the Pref's in that prog to control AutoImporter!

  • Can't boot. How to get stopped 'user launched" to restart?

Hiya. I can't get Lion to boot. Here's what I've done/tried. Where applicable I have repeated these steps just to be sure my results were consistent:
    1) When I boot, I can't get past the grey screen with the apple icon and the spinning spokes.
    2) After reading reviews on CNET, I installed Avanti!
    3) Avanti would not finish scanning and would not operate on the sketchy files it found (most just highly compressed files).
    4) In Finder I used Quit, then Force Quit on Avanti, only to have it start again as soon as it closed. Meanwhile it kept opening & then crashing 2 other apps:  extEdit and Mail (neither of which I was using).
    5) I tried to shut down, but Avanti stopped the process.
    6) I tried trashing Avanti, but it I just got the 'moving to trash' swirly status bars running indefinitely.
    7) I tried deleting sub files of Avanti hoping it would cripple it sufficiently that it would not return when stopped.
    8) I did a hard reboot and opened to the same problem.
    9) I loaded MacKeeper, but that too crashed almost immediately each time.
    10) I tried opening System Preferences, but it too crashed immediately each time.
    Here's where I screwed up:
    11) I examined Avanti and thought I'd stop the parent process and reboot.
    12) I stopped the user version of launchd (Quit, not delete)
    13) My screen instantly went grey - no other features.
    14) I did a cold reboot, and got no further than the grey screen described in #1
    15) I tried a safe boot. Same result.
    16) I tried emptying the PRAM. Same result.
So, I'm totally stuck. I've been all over the internet looking for the answers, but it all seems to be about what launchd does, not what to do when it doesn't (at least I assume that's what's happeniing.)
Oh, one other thing, please: This being a MAC, I don't have a boot disk for repairs. In addition, none of the built-in repairs/work-arounds work because, of course, I can't get in. So, if you think the only thing to do is reload the OS, do I have to grab all my data first? I do have access through my laptop via sharing.
    Thanks so much!

My thoughts are that you can do nothing at all with the computer until you've backed up your data. After that, if you think you know a way to fix the damage without reinstalling, you're on your own.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to fully boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot from your recovery partition (10.7 or later), a local Time Machine backup volume (10.7.2 or later), or your installation disc (10.6.8 or earlier.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in the support article linked below, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
How to back up and restore your files
    2. If you have a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode by holding down the key combination command-T at the startup chime. Connect the two Macs with a FireWire cable. The internal drive of the machine running in target mode will mount as an external drive on the other machine. Copy the data to another drive.
How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode
    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

  • How can I stop multiple tabs from opening along with Mozilla Firefox Start Page at launching time. How can this be stopped?

Whenever I launch Firefox, multiple tabs also start to open along with the Mozilla Firefox Start Page, which is very irritating. How can I stop this to happen each time I launch the browser?

See these articles for some suggestions:
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page - Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' symbols
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved
It is also possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

How do I stop Quicktime player from auto-launching after I've exported a movie from iMovie 10?
It's really annoying for Quicktime player to auto-lauch!

It may not be that simple David. They're using a "server" and some of the Apache software may want to launch QuickTime at boot.
This isn't really a QuickTime question. It's a sever question best answered in those Discussion pages.

I installed Final Cut Epxress 4 on my laptop and my macbook and then accidentally also migrated FCE from the desktop to the macbook. Now each time I launch FCE on the macbook it asks for the software serial number. I enter the number which is then rejetced as it's already been used twice. FCE launches anyway as the licence info had already been written to my hard drive when I first installed FCE. How can I stop it asking for the serial nmber every time I open FCE?

You need to uninstall FCE from you Macbook and then reinstall it.
If you are not familiar with the process, FCS Remover is an app that can uninstall FCE for you.

    Hi Neil -
Thanks for getting back so quickly.  Unfortunately this didn't do the trick.
Perhaps I should have been more specific: I'm "adding the photos" to my library.  Each time I do this iPhoto launches.

  • How do I stop iphoto from launching itself every time I use my laptop?

How do I stop Iphoto from launching itself every time I use my laptop?

    Some possibilities:
Right click on the iPhoto icon in the Dock. Is Open at Log In Selected?
Check your System Preferences -> Accounts -> Log In Items
Is there a camera or anything that your Mac might think is a camera (flash drive, USB Hard Disk formatted to a FAT format, phone) attached to your Mac. If so, disconnect it. If you don't want to disconnect it, set iPhoto to "Do Nothing" when a camera is attached. You do this in the iPhoto Preferences.

The same way one starts it -- Launch Image Capture, open the application's Preferences (from the Image Capture menu) and change the settings associated with connecting your camera.

  • HT2477 when i move the cursor across the screen it launches the dashboard - how do i stop it

when i move the cursor across the screen to the left it launches the dashboard - how do i stop it doing that ?

    Hi Jimb9,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If Dashboard seems to be launching automatically when you move your mouse to the left, first check to see if a "Hot Corner" has been set.
    Hot Corners
To specify an action to perform when you move the pointer to a screen corner, choose the action from one of the Active Screen Corners pop-up menus.
After you set an active corner, move your mouse to that corner of your screen to see the result.
You can find the Active Screen Corners menu by going to System Preferences, then choosing Mission Control and clicking the Hot Corners button in the bottom left.

  • How to Stop iPhoto launch when iPod Touch is docked?

Each and every time I dock the iPod Touch (2nd Gen), iPhoto opens and asks if I want to import new photos. Every time!
But I already imported them and I want to keep them (screenshots made with iPod Touch image capture). So why does it keep asking?
How can I stop the automatic launch of iPhoto to ask this same question?
There are no settings in iTunes for the connected iPod Touch. There are no settings in iPhoto.
And I have reviewed past messages suggesting there is a setting in the Mac OSX app called "Image Capture" - "Down load to: Picture, Movies and Music folder" Automatic Task: set to None - but that does not work either.
What else can I do? It is VERY annoying!
    Thanks & Aloha, AW

For some reason it does not work that way. You could always try turning off the ability to open iPhoto when a camera-like device is attached, using Grab.
Mind you, if they are imported into iPhoto and you sync images with the iPod touch, then you might as well delete from that folder otherwise they are duplicated on the touch.
