How do I stop bleed when HARD PANNING?

I am trying to create a track to use as a backing track Live with my band. I created a Software Instrument and imported a Midi Sequence I had created. I then used the 'Kopfgeist' instrument setting to create the sound of my click track. I panned this Hard Left.
I then imported my stereo backing track and panned that hard right. I got a very faint, but present bleed of the click track into the right hand side, and consequently, into the Front of House system when I split the signal through my line mixer.
I have tried bouncing the click to Audio and repeating but no luck. I have even tried routing the 2 to mono outputs 1 & 2 (L & R) respectively, but I've still had no luck.
For this I have not used a hardware interface, just direct out from my imac.
I have also tried using a separate machine linked to a 'M-Audio Project Mix I/O' This appears to stop the bleed whilst actually in Logic, but once I Bounce the file, no matter the file type, the bleed reoccurs in itunes and on my ipod which is the device I use for live playback on stage.
I'm fresh out of ideas so if somebody has an idea, that would be excellent!

When you say "once I bounce the file it recurs in iTunes and on my iPod"     When using iTunes are you playing through the Mac's built-in audio?
I would say it points to "crosstalk" from inexpensive audio hardware. Built-in audio on most computers consists of small integrated circuits costing a couple of bucks (if that). Not only is it inexpensive but it's shoe-horned into the device and close to other circuits. Leakage happens.
All of the Intel based Apple computers/devices do this as most of them use cheap Realtek audio chips. The older PPC G5's that use Texas Instruments audio chips do not have this problem.
In iTunes, make sure all enhancements are OFF including  "Crossfade Songs, Sound Enhancer and SoundCheck".
Also, if you're using a compressor on the master bus when bouncing, try the bounce with the compressor disabled or removed.

  • How do I stop images when selected in Bridge from automatically opening in ACR?

For no reason that I can think of, When I click on a single image in Bridge to preview or to try and select multiple images to load as layers or merge to HDR, the first image clicked opens in ACR. How can i Stop this?

The images are RAW files. When I click to select the image it immediately opens in ACR. It won't let me preview the image in Filmstrip mode as it did before. It won't allow me to select multiple images as the first image selected opens ACR.

  • How can I stop bleeding edges in yahoo when I use a larger font?

I'd like to use firefox with my new mac air, and I like to use a 14 to 16 pt font size for my old eyes. It seems to work fine with most of my favorite websites -- except for yahoo mail. There is bleeding edges and whatnot. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

I will check out that extension, thanks. I do have the minimum font size increased, and do realize it can cause issues, but that's really only a problem for me in Yahoo. Facebook, hotmail, etc work fine with minimum font increased --- but not yahoo mail.
When I use Safari, yahoo and the rest of the websites also work fine with minimum font increased ('fine' meaning some imperfections, but nothing bothersome.)
So, best I can tell, only Yahoo and only firefox is a problem. Which is a problem for me since I use yahoo mail alot and like firefox.
Is there no fix for this issue without using an extension?

  • How can I stop my external hard drives being renamed by Lightroom?

Since early December I have had innumerable problems with LR and my external hard drives. I have 3 external hard drives all Western Digital, 2 x 320gb Passport and 1 x 1tb Elements. I labelled the hard drives as the computer named them when I first installed them (E&F). Since then LR calls them whatever it wants when I plug them in so there are always question marks beside my photos as LR thinks I have plugged a different hard drive in.
Although I only have 1 x 1tb WD Elements hard drive LR calls it something different if I disconnect it and reconnect it so it then starts trying to find all my photos again.
My partner doesn't have these problems as he never unplugs his hard drives but I need to as sometimes I work on a laptop with the same LR catalogue, if I am working away, so I take a hard drive with me with the relevant images on.
    I could do with:
    a) a way of naming my WD hard drives so LR recognises which are plugged in
    b) a very straightforward digital workflow - I have many LR books but need a LR genius to say 1) do this 2) do that etc. - I have approx 30,000 images and even without the hard drive problems am getting a bit bogged down trying to be organised - I'm a photographer not an administrator and am really bad at the organisational side.
Help, please, I'm drowning in technology - ps I love Lightroom!

Then the issue is most likely WIndows XP. When one attaches a remote drive, Windows XP can arbitrarily assign it to any one of the drive letter assignments, D: through Z:. A: and B: are reserved for diskette drives, and C: is typically assiged to the boot drive where Windows XP resides.
The drive letters change typically when one plugs in the external drives in different order. So if you have DriveA and DriveB, and you plug in DriveA then DriveB, then DriveA may get assigned D: and DriveB may get assigned E:. If, however, one plugs in DriveB first then DriveA, the order will probably get reversed, in which case Lightroom will lose track of all the photo which it had previously found in location D: and E:.
The solution is to use windows disk management to force the assignment of the drive letters. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307844 for details. Assign the letters that Lightroom uses.
A problem you may run into is if you attach a new drive then attach your photo drives. I believe that Windows will give the new drive the D; slot, since it is unused, but then randomly assign the photo drive because it's defined location is unavailable. Windows is a poor manager of such things, Apple is not.
The solution is to always attach drives in the same order, and Windows will assign the drive correctly, assume one has performed the tasks in the article.
Another approach is to use the Windows mount command. If you're brave, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/205524.

  • How can I stop alerts when starting iPhoto?

It's so annoying - I realize that at some point I moved or renamed some photos in my library because I find iPhoto very controlling in terms of making it difficult for me to find things easily or separate photos into the folders I create.
however is there not a setting to prevent iPhoto from trying to sort of calibrate files - I get about 200 alerts everytime I start up the program.
Any suggestions or references much appreciated.

1 - iPhoto is a database program as as such the organization and integrity of its data base is critical to its proper operation
I moved or renamed some photos in my library
2 - It is strongly recommended that you do not move, change, delete or otherwise modify any files within the iPhoto library - doing so may corrupt your library and lose data
There is never any need to do anything inside the iPhoto library - click here for a discussion on several of the many ways to correctly and safely access your photos.
is there not a setting to prevent iPhoto from trying to sort of calibrate files
iPhoto does not do any "calibration" of files - at start up or ever
I get about 200 alerts everytime I start up the program.
Exactly what are the alerts you are getting? THere probably is a solution but we would have to know what they are to help
Any suggestions or references much appreciated.
-- Provide the details of your problem including the wording of the alerts
-- Stay out of your iPhoto library
    -- and backup often
-- read and follow the iPhoto help topics
    Managing your iPhoto library
The best and safest way to manage your photos in iPhoto is by working with your photo library from within the iPhoto application.
WARNING: iPhoto stores your photo library within the iPhoto Library package in your Pictures folder. To avoid permanently deleting or corrupting your iPhoto library, do not attempt to alter the contents of this file.
It is a good idea, however, to routinely back up your iPhoto library to a DVD or external hard disk so you have a copy in case your photos become lost or corrupted for any reason.

  • I have created a movie in 16:9 format. I have created an iDVD pane in 16:9 but when I preview the movie that pane changes to 4:3 and burns the DVD as a 4:3 movie. How can I stop that, please I am in Snow Leopard, using FCE4.0.1?

I am using Snow Leopard and have created a movie in 16:9 format (SD not HDV) I created a movie which stays in the 16:9 format in fcp file, .mov fiule and MP4 file. I created an iDVD pane in 16:9 but when I play the movie in the iDVD preview window the iDVD pane switches to 4:3 and it burns the DVD in 4:3. How can I stop this so I get a16:9 DVD. Thanks for any help offered

    Hi
As I see this I see two parts
    • Howto go from FinalCut to iDVD
    • Howto set iDVD right
In FinalCut Express (to 4) or Pro (to 6 - most probably 7 too)
    • One has to set Anamorphic in the Browser window - menu columns
    • Export as QuickTime movie .mov - NO QUICKTIME CONVERSION
In iDVD there are TWO places to set - WideScreen
    - Start a NEW iDVD project - AND HERE SELECT WideScreen 16:9
    - in Project - select Projectinfo
    - now set WideScreen 16:9 - Here too
This use to work for me.
    FOR FinalCut Pro-X - I have not a Clue - as I don't use it. SORRY
BTW - There is a good practice to before BURNING the DVD do
    • Save as a DiskImage
    • Test this by using DVD-Player tool
And if it is OK Size and All - then burn it by using
    • Disk Util tool
    • here set down burn speed to x4 or less (less burn errors = plays on more devices and better)
    • Not using Memorex or NoName etc cheap media - as they usually DO NOT WORK as Video-DVDs
    • I use Verbatim DVD-R as they play on more and even older DVD-players

I have all my music on my external hard drive when I try to add it to iTunes it is automatically added to my MacBook Pro's hard drive. How do I stop this from happening? I just want the music to stay on the external hard drive. Thanks!

This is true of course, but doesn't cover the situation where some files are in the iTunes Media folder and others are on an external drive. In my case I keep my music in the Media folder and all my films on an external drive (there are too many to have on the internal drive). In iTunes 11, and before, it was easy to add those external files by holding down the alt/opt key while dragging to the sidebar. In iTunes 12 this is no longer possible. There are several workarounds: use TuneSpan to move the file after it's been added; delete the file from the Media folder and empty the trash then use iTunes Get Info which will report the file is missing and allow you to locate it; constantly switch the Add to iTunes toggle on and off as required. All of these require a lot more work than just holding down the alt/opt key while adding.
    It constantly gets harder.

  • How do I stop the task panes from opening automatically when I open a PDF?

How do I stop the task panes from opening automatically when I open a PDF?
When I open some of my PDFs the task panes open too. I do not want them to as I have never used them in reader for any purpose. I use reader to READ PDFs. I don't need the task panes and don't want them opening when reader starts.

Adobe seem to have decided that they are so important that you must see them. Perhaps because it is their chance to sell you stuff. It seems to vary between releases, are you on the latest? Curiously, many people have no idea how to open and close these panels.

-= Changing the application used to open all files of a certain kind (written with reference to OSX 10.4 but may not have changed) =-
    1) In a Finder window highlight a file of the kind you want to change the application to open that kind of file.
    2) While that file is highlighted, select File > Get Info or press command (apple or propeller icon) + i to get a file information window.
    3) In the lower part of the info window there is an "open with" menu with a list of applications.
    4) If your application is already in the box then it is the default application for opening that kind of file and you don't need to do anything more.  Close the get info window.
    5) If the application showing in the menu is not the one with which you wish to open the file then select a new application. If your application does not appear there then select the "other..." and track down the application (usually in the Applications folder at the main level of the computer).
    6) If you wish to change all files of this type to open with this application in future, make sure the "change all" button is selected.
    7) Close the get info window.

Why is that when I am composing a new message do I end up with multiple versions of my message I am composing up in my Google Trash mailbox?  How can I stop this from happening?

It was very hard to see what the box says because the message displays for less than one second. However, I was able to record it with my iphone and pause it until I got a shot of the message. The box says the following:
"Do you want the application “java” to accept incoming network connections?
Clicking deny may limit the application’s behavior. This setting can be changed in the Firewall pane of Security preferences."
I did make some changes. I will see if it works.
    Thank you!!!
