How do I stop calendar event notifications?

I have an iPhone 5 with iOS 6. I restored it from a backup of my iPhone 4S and with it calendars from some Major League Baseball teams. I subscribed to these calendars so that if I was to travel to one of these cities I could select the calendar and check to see if the team would be playing at home while I was there. At other times I have the calendar deselected so that my calendar is not cluttered with the events I have no intention of attending. The problem is that on my iPhone I get four notifications everyday, although the calendars for the four teams I subscribe to are deselected. I don't want to be notified at all, I just want the capability to see the schedule on my calendar then hide it when I'm finished looking. It's a notification problem rather than a calendar problem but I don't see any way in Settings / Notifications / Calendar to fix it. Any help appreciated, thanks.

I'm afraid I'll miss an alert for something important if I do that. Why can't I choose which alerts to get and which to ignore? If I uncheck those subscribed calendars I shouldn't get alerts for the events in them.

How do I stop Calendar trying to geolocate event entries? It never suceeds because all the event locations are local and very specific and in trying, it slows down the event entry.

Whoo hoo! That's just what we needed.
Well, we seem to have confirmed that
    (1) Your DOCX files are opening in Adobe Reader, and
    (2) Your PDF files are opening in Microsoft Word.
Now, we had a go at fixing this but it seems pretty tangled up. It may be better to just forget double clicking and use File > Open in Word for DOCX files, and File > Open in Adobe Reader for PDF files. If you're having trouble even doing that, let's focus on getting that bit working for you - let us know the problem.
(NB Because things are messed up you CANNOT rely on the icon to decide on the type of file. Use Properties to look at the file name or type).

ipad - how to push Exchange calendar events to iCloud account? MobileIron is used to get Exchange data -- is there an app to push the ipad version of the events to iCloud?
There are two separate calendars on ipad (ios 7.1) one for icloud, one fo exchange. I have tried a couple of calendar apps and while they do a good job of showing the events in the app - they don't push (synch) back to iCloud. Any thoughts on an app that will take my ipad calendars and synch them to a single icloud calendar/account?
    Thanks

    Hi
You asked about a recommendation for an app to paste a group of addresses into the To, Cc or Bcc fields of an email?
Our "MailShot Pro" app is the only one we know of on the App Store that creates special "group contacts" in your address book which contain all your groups email addresses, but can be used just like regular contacts from most of your favourite apps. We now have nearly 50000 people using it, and growing steadily every day.
Here is a link if you would like to know more “MailShot Pro” (itunes link).
A free version is also available if you'd like to try it out with a small nmber of contacts.
If you need any customer support just contact us at the website, we're always happy to help.

Notifications ...  how do I stop getting email notifications?  I like this site but now I get 20-50 or more notifications a day in my email.  I would rather shut that off and check back on my own now....

Once you've turned off notifications, you won't get new ones. But you still have to cancel the notifications you've been receiving. This thread explains how at the top: https://discussions.apple.com/static/apple/tutorial/email.html

I had thought that I was subscribing to just a single thread but it appears that I'm now being notified about every message in every thread.  The last time I logged on I received over 200 messages.
If it doesn't stop I will have to resort to changing my email address.

  • How do I stop Calendar overriding my Event location

    Hi
When creating an event in Calendar, the software is quite 'helpful' in offering suggestions for the event location as I type.
However, if I don't like any of it's suggestions, or wish to override the suggested location, the software seems to stamp it's feet and insist on formatting the location data the way IT prefers.
How do I stop it doing that?
For instance, I am attending an event at the "Institute of Directors, 116 Pall Mall, London, SW1Y 5EA"
Calendar finds a very close match for this and replaces my location with
    "116 Pall Mall
    London
    England
    SW1Y 5EA
    United Kingdom"
Apart from the excessive screen real estate taken up by those superfluous new lines, it doesn't include the name of the location - "Institute of Directors" - and it includes 2 countries - England and United Kingdom - that I don't need to know because I live here.
Can I not keep my own preferred format in the location field?

I just fixed this issue by turning off the location support on iCal on my iPhone. If all your devices are synced up that may be causing the issue.
After turning off location support I was able to enter the address I wanted. It gave me a choice to stick with my address or choose from the list of suggestions. After refreshing iCal on my computer it displayed the correct address.
Hopefully your fix will be that easy!

  • How can I stop Calendar from formatting the location of an event?

When I enter the event's location (e.g. Concert Hall, 123 Main Street) Calendar breaks it up into multiple fields and sorts them alphabetically (e.g. "123 Main Street" and"Concert Hall"). It also tags each field with "!", meaning presumably that the location was not found in a directory or contact list. I'd like to stop Calendar from doing _anything_ "smart' to the location info and just display it exactly as I enter it. Any ideas on whether this is possible? Thanks much!

The site file is a database that keeps track of all your assets (and much more), including the scriptLib file. As soon as the page is saved (when you use the site file and it's open) the link will be change to the correct path that will work on the server.
If you're not using the site file you might as well use a text editor, since most of GL functionality is gone.

  • How do I stop calendar notifications going to my old iphone?

I have an iPhone 5s.  I reset my old iPhone 4s to factory default and gave it to my mom to use.  She set it up with a new apple account and connected it to her AT&T phone service.  She is getting my Calendar appointment notifications on her iPhone 4s.  I have removed the 4s from my iCloud account.

I like it, on here its all people having problems. No one comes here to say no problems. I like it, but you can wait til ios 6.0.1 which should come soon. I will adds bugs with ios6. Much how ios 5.0.1 did with ios 5.

  • Shared Calendar Event Notifications

My wife and I are both using the new iPhone 6 and utilize iCloud to share our Family calendar.  I am the owner on the account and I share it with both her and my daughter.  My wife is set to view and edit the calendar, where my daughter is set only to view.  When I make a change or addition to the calendar, either from my phone, iPad, or PC, my wife does not get a notification of the activity.  When she makes a change or addition, I do get a notification.  I get a pop up notification, as well as a message in my calendar in box.  I checked both phones against each other last night and they are set up exactly the same as far as shared calendar notifications and other settings through the settings menu.  Any ideas on where else I can check.  I would like for her to receive the same notifications I get.
    Thanks!

as far as i understand iCal it is on the "receivers/subscribers" side to deal with email-updates (and not on the "senders/changers" side):
snippet from my Re: How do you stop receiving notifications about updated calendar events? (there is a screenshot as well):
to NOT get email notification about updated events from a shared calendar you subscribed to you have to uncheck "events affect availability" in that calendars "info" (mac os X.7 and X.8: iCal —> calendars dropdown —> right click on the subscribed calendar —> choose "get info" from the context-menu —> uncheck "events affect availability")

  • How do i stop new event emails being sent?

    Hi.
My wife and i share calendars. Everytime i create a new event, edit one or delete one my wife gets an email about it. However when she does the same i don't get anything. Neither of us are bothered about receiving the emails so how do i stop sending them? I've looked thru ical preferences but can't find anything obvious.
    Thanks in advance
    Si

I got the answer last night while i was in my local Apple store and it's a very easy fix.
    Log into icloud
    Click calendar
On the left it shows the name of each calendar (home for example) with a little green and white icon that almost looks like a wifi symbol.
One at a time left click once on the one/s that you share with your wife and hey presto there is an option to stop emails.
As you're both getting the emails you'll have to do it on both your icloud account and your wife's
This is so simple i really can't believe that i didn't get a reply with the answer
