How do I stop FF from opening everytime I want to use the XPS Viewer,even when FF is not open at the time

This is actually a workaround answer for the question at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/943960 , which has been archived.
This problem persists for me in FF 27.0.1. The source of the problem can be found in this bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=358297 which Mozilla seems to think has been fixed.
Basically, the MS xps reader program thinks it needs to open MS Internet Explorer, but it does this by opening the default browser, which for us is probably FF.
Here is the workaround:
If you want to open an xps file in ms windows:
* First right click on the file in ms explorer to get the context menu.
* Choose "Open with" > "Choose program"
* Instead of the default choices (if any) offered, choose "Internet explorer"
* ALSO, check the check box "Always use the selected program to open this type of file."
This will make Windows go straight to IE, which works for me. However, you will still have to have the underlying handler installed, presumably.

1. "this is a really really old version of Firefox" Really? FF 27.0.1 is really old? It's the latest version as of today. Read my post more carefully.
2. The bug was updated relatively recently by someone else, who was told to file a different bug. I do not have time to refile bugs that other people have already filed and updated. Among other things, I will be told to install the latest build and see if the bug persists.
3. The purpose of my post here was to help others who might have the same problem.
4. If you "have no idea", why did you feel the need to respond? I would rather hear responses from those who have some idea.

Look in your System Preferences, and see if there is a Firefox item in your Accounts/Login Items pane. If so, delete it.
One other place it may hide, is System Drive/Library/Startup Items
Also, if you want Safari as your default browser, open Safari/Preferences/General, and set your default browser.

A message keeps coming up about a script being busy or stopped responding and I want to know how to stop this from happening everytime I want to get on the internet.

A message came up on my desktop asking me to click on it and it warned me about my toolbars would no longer work. I believe I had just deleted Google Chrome. Now every time I want to go online I have to wait a minute or so before a message comes up and states: A script on this page may be busy or it may have stopped responding. You can continue to see if the script will complete". Then under the above message is this:

There are two boxes underneath that state "Continue" or "Stop script". I click on the "stop script" box and then I can get online. RyanLost, I would strongly recommend ALL FF users BLOCK updates, as long as Mozilla is rushing out buggy updates. I generally don't like to automatically update anyway, but I SURE don't want to have automatic updates when Mozilla is more concerned with putting out new releases than fixing the problems with the old releases.
The fact so many people are complaining about FF6 seems to confirm this. It's one step up, two steps back, for many people. It's not just like an incremental bug fix release. No, it has new and buggy features added.
If 5.x and 6.x were merely improvements on the stability of 4.x, I could have agreed it's "nothing to worry about". But, as you said, the memory is hemorrhaging.
Definitely, I suggest you revert your version and wait until Mozilla actually FIXES a release and the news on the wires is that it's fixes, and not just a buggy new one.

Could be a cookie issue...
Go to Safari > Preferences then select the Security tab then click Show Cookies
Type yahoo in the serach field then click Remove All > Done
Quit then relaunch Safari.
Try accessing your Yahoo mail account.
FYI... there is rarely a sure fire correct response for third party web based email client software. Often takes time consuming troubleshooting.

In my organization, we have well over 2,000 PCs. Every time Firefox is open, it connects to Google IPs (74.125.x.x) even when we are not on Google's site and do not have Google as the search provider. From what I understand (and correct me if I am wrong), Firefox links to Google for anti-phishing/anti-malware lists. The problem I have is with over 2,000 PCs going thru our web filter, it is bogging down our web filter with these connections.

I had Opera set as my default browser since this began happening. I changed my default browser back to Firefox mainly because having Firefox open one or two seconds every time I open Opera was/is such a nuisance.
I believe this problem began because I attempted to manually transfer the files from my old computer to the new one (via the backed up files in my external drive). I was unfamiliar with Windows 7 when I did this. Microsoft changed the file set up from what I had been used to in Windows XP. I used XP for six years before being exposed to Windows 7 (I never had Vista).
I'm almost sure this problem has something to do with where I placed the application data when I was trying to reestablish the program set up on the new computer.

You linked them both to the same Apple ID and thence to the same iCloud account. Don't do that.
