How do I stop Firefox from using a secondary window before it takes me to my printer window?

When I print an email a window opens and gives me the option to print with the word print in the upper left corner of the window. When I click on print, the window for my printer is opened and I select print at the bottom. If I use Explorer the printer window opens and there is less extraneous information printed at the top of my document.

Firefox doesn't do email. If you are accessing email thru Firefox you are using a web mail service. Some web mail software doesn't provide exactly the same features for other browsers as they do for Internet Explorer. Without knowing which web mail service you are using - Hotmail, Gmail, Xfinity Connect, etc - it's hard to guess what your problem is. Plus, a screenshot of what that issue looks like in IE and in Firefox would be helpful for us to understand the issue.

I'm guessing you use Google for search. There is a setting in Google search to open each result in a new window. (When you use tabbed browsing, that means each result opens in a new tab.) You can check on whether you have that setting turned on as follows:
On a Google results page, click the button on the right side with the "gear" icon, then click Search Settings from the drop-down list. At the bottom of the page is the setting to open results in a new window.

This has become a really sticky point with FireFox and IE. Why are we forced to use a Tab bar instead of being able to have Links open a New Window???
I just installed FireFox 7.0.1 onto a Windows 7 System and can not find any way to turn off the Tabs. It makes it very difficult for me to compare websites and source codes when forced to use Tabs. Clicking back and forth between Tabs is counter-productive and very time consuming.

I've been using firefox for a long time & I love it. Recently there was an update and AOL became my homepage. Everything runs very slow since this update. I can't seem to find a way to get Firefox to return to the way it was. I still want to keep my aol account but I want to be able to sign on through firefox for most of what I do online. I think Facebook uses its facebook.net domain for this function. When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
Right-click this page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the search box at the top of that dialog, change the domain to facebook.net and remove the site's cookies.
Then try using the login with FB feature again. Does it work?

Did you check the network setting?

I cant stop firefox from using X4 resources as top PC games, how do I fix?

I have used all manner of tricks and tips to reduce resource consumption with all the skills learned from two years of computer science education (yes I have a BS) and nothing will stop FireFox from using upwards of 4 Ghz of RAM. Make it stop or I will stop using it as well as suggest that all of my clients avoid it like the Plague. There is no reason why this application should use MORE resources than a top of the line PC game when all it is doing is viewing a website (Security is up to the client and should not be required for basic function). Please advise as to how to limit the application to a reasonable resource level so we can keep folks interested for both of our sakes. This effects my livelihood, thank you for your time.

How do I stop Firefox from automatically placing the cursor in a text box? On certain pages such as Google.com the cursor will be moved to the search text box automatically after a couple seconds from the page loading. So I'll be typing in the address bar or something and then half of what I am typing in the address bar becomes cut off and starts being entered in the Google.com text box for search. The same happens on Facebook.com and the cursor is automatically moved to the Status Update text box. I assume this is a built in "feature" of the web page, but it's damn annoying. Especially when I start typing in my status update box on Facebook before the page completely loads and then halfway through typing (once the page is done loading) my cursor is moved to the starting position of the text area and my text is cut off.
Just the be clear the actual mouse pointer isn't being moved, just the prompt for entering text.
How can this be stopped?
