How do I stop iPhoto from identifying faces.  It is a pain and takes up too much space on my computer!!!

Every time I open up iphoto, new faces are generated.  In fact I delete these "faces files" and they come back!  Help me to stop this insanity.  It is a very bad feature of iphoto.

These faces are appearing in the iPhoto Window ?
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • How can I stop iPhoto from reidentifying faces I have already 'crossed', while still being able to identify and sort new faces.

iPhoto has detected faces of people I dont know, in my 'iPhoto faces' whenever I click the cross in the corner of the face (when sorting faces) the face temporarily disappears, but once I have uploaded a fresh batch of photos (and want to identify new faces) it automatically re-identifies the old photos that I don't want to have to sort again. How can I stop iPhoto from reidentifying faces I have already 'crossed', while still being able to identify and sort new faces.

Thank you, that makes sense (I think!) However, I need to be able to tell iPhoto who the people identified in my photos are, does that make sense? How do I identify the people in my new photos without clicking 'find faces'. I know that button searches through my photos to find faces, but it also gets me to the place where I identify the faces as my friends and family, is there a shortcut to get to that place without clicking 'find faces'? That is what I really need, please help!!

How do I delete a tv show that I accidentally purchases? It is partially downloaded. It will take up to much space on my iPad. I don't care about the charge for the show- I just want to get rid of it. Thanks

Let it download, then delete it.

  • How do I stop iPhoto from updating

How do I stop iPhoto from updating itself every time I put a backed up iPhoto disc in to play? Now I quit or force quit iPhoto to stop it happening. Happens every time I install a CD or DVD disc. It cant possibly be necessary every time.

Chances are, that disc was created by an earlier version of iPhoto. iPhoto is trying to convert the library on the disc into an iPhoto 6 library, because the file structure is different in v6. The only fix I know is to copy the disc to your Mac, let iPhoto update your disc as an individual library, then burn a new disc that iPhoto 6 will like.

  • How do i stop iPhoto from automatically opening when I connect my iPhone?

Hi, well as the title states:
How do i stop iPhoto from automatically opening when I connect my iPhone?
    It's getting on my nerves...
    Thanks.

    This might also be helpful:
I wrote an AppleScript that asks me each time I connect the iPhone/camera/etc whether or not I want to open iPhoto. Usually I just hit return and it doesn't open, but once in a while I'll click Yes to open iPhoto and import videos from my phone. I just did it because it's nice to have a little reminder so I don't go for too too long without importing, but not have it slow things down each time I plug in.
Below is the script. Paste it into AppleScript Editor, then export it as an application. Then set Image Capture to open this app when you plug in your phone. Would love to hear if it's helpful for you or if you modify it to use other criteria to automatically import only at certain times or conditions.

set question to display dialog "Open iPhoto to import photos?" buttons {"Yes", "No"} default button 2
set answer to button returned of question
if answer is equal to "Yes" then
              tell application "iPhoto" to activate
    end if

  • How do I stop iphoto from launching itself every time I use my laptop?

How do I stop Iphoto from launching itself every time I use my laptop?

    Some possibilities:
Right click on the iPhoto icon in the Dock. Is Open at Log In Selected?
Check your System Preferences -> Accounts -> Log In Items
Is there a camera or anything that your Mac might think is a camera (flash drive, USB Hard Disk formatted to a FAT format, phone) attached to your Mac. If so, disconnect it. If you don't want to disconnect it, set iPhoto to "Do Nothing" when a camera is attached. You do this in the iPhoto Preferences.

I usually find it's much easier to just use Photoshop to edit my pictures... iPhoto is slow as molasses in January.
How do I stop iPhoto from launching everytime I connect my camera?
I looked everywhere and can't find anyplace to stop it...

The same way one starts it -- Launch Image Capture, open the application's Preferences (from the Image Capture menu) and change the settings associated with connecting your camera.

  • How do I stop iPhoto from repeatedly closing Event title boxes when I am in the middle of entering a title?

How do I stop iPhoto from repeatedly closing Event title boxes when I am in the middle of entering a title?
This problem started several months ago. I have tried typing more slowly and typing faster; neither help.
It now takes me about four attempts to complete a title of about twelve characters, achieving about three characters on each attempt.
    I am running iPhoto 9.4.3 on OS X 10.8.3 on a 2.93 GHz Intel Quad-Core i7 iMac with 12 GB of DDR3 memory.

How do I stop Iphoto from opening when I plug in my Iphone?

Having the preference in iPhoto makes perfect sense to me.  After all, iPhoto is the application that opens.  You would expect that is where you should provide some guidance not to open.
What puzzles me much more is why you would post this comment more than 18 months after wjosten answered the original question.

  • Upgraded to iPhoto '11, info tray takes up too much space?

Is there a way of resizing or moving the info tray from the side of screen to the bottom like '09 version?
Mostly interested in minimal view to see date, size of photo taken. Screen size on 13.3" so info bar takes up too much space.

No.  That feature is hard coded into the app.  Send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.  The Command+i key combination can quickly open and close the Info tray to get it out of your way.

  • How do I stop iPhoto from launching every time I sync my iPhone?

I have looked for something in Preferences on both my iPhone's PHOTOS tab as well as in iPhoto but cannot find where to tell whatever I need to tell to stop iPhoto from launching automatically every time I hook up my iPhone to my Mac to sync. This is really annoying and I'd so much rather just handle anything like that via the iTunes interface vs. another window/program that has to operate to deal with stuff on the iPhone. It's INelegant at best and just simply a pain in the arse at worst.

You mean I can use this Image Capture thing for moving stuff from scanners as well?
You bet. Some don't prefer using iPhoto to store all imported digital camera photos or any such application (not sure why but to each his/her own) so Image Capture can be used instead which is a simple import/transfer application. Using Image Capture, you can download some or all, remove photos from the camera after the download process, select a default download location or create a new folder in the location of choice and use a chosen automatic task such as crop to a 4' x 6' which occurs after the download process is complete.
A nice simple little application which has some juice for those who don't like using iPhoto or similar type application.
I'm in the habit of rooting around the applications folder and utilities folder with a new Mac purchase so I was aware of Image Capture but I've always preferred using iPhoto for my digital camera import process.

  • How do I stop iPhoto from synching w/ iPhone?

Every time I plug in my iPhone into my Mac iPhoto launches and wants to d/l the same pictures I've already d/l'd. Is there any way to stop iPhoto from automatically launching when I plug in my iPhone, but continue to launch when I plug in my regular camera?

You can't have it both ways since iPhoto detects the iPhone as being a digital camera when connected if photos are available that were taken by the iPhone - regardless if previously imported into iPhoto.
You can disable iPhone automatically launching when any digital camera is connected which is my preference anyway - not a big deal for me to click on iPhoto in the Dock after connecting my digital camera or iPhone.
The same for me with iTunes when connecting my iPod or iPhone since I'm not always ready at that time for iTunes to launch automatically and prefer manually launching the app.
I import photos taken by the iPhone into iPhoto and then have iPhoto automatically delete those photos after the import. Since I may not want all photos taken by the iPhone remaining, I transfer select photos to photo albums and then sync or transfer those photos back to the iPhone.
