How do I stop iPod 5th gen from syncing Photos, not just music?

It is so long since I used my old iPod that I've forgotten how to select what I want and don't want to be downloaded.
When I synced it, it started downloading over 1000 photos from iPhoto.  All I want to do is add an album I purchased from the iTunes store and a new playlist in iTunes.  I can't even tell what it's downloading because all I see is a kind of flashing Do Not Enter sign with "Do not disconnect."
How am I supposed to know what it's downloading and when it's finished?
Help!

I would have a look at your iPod's User Guide for assistance on the different syncing preferences you can set up with your iPod and the different content that can be synced to it.

  • How to disable a ipod 5th gen and how to get the passcode ?

I just bought ant ipod 5th gen from Americans store but it was a display when I got ready to set it up it don't let me go pass the disable  connect to iTunes screen. I try restoring it but it don't let me it takes about 1 hour to load and then it gets to the same screen it asks me to enter the passcode on the ipod and then continue with the restoring but I can't enter the passcode sense it won't let me go more then the disable connect to iTunes screen. Plz help me.

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
    You may have to:L
Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
    - Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
    - Then try on another computer

  • My iPod 5th Gen (2005-06) will not accept charge when I need to update it. What do I do?

I was recently given an old iPod (5th gen from 2005-06) and I went to update and iTunes told me to charge it on a wall socket to complete the update, however when I plug it in it no longer receives power. It did before the update but now it doesn't and my iPod no longer works. All it does is display an image of a plug going into a wall socket.

  • IPod 5th gen device keeps pausing and playing music randomly

Self explanatory. Don't know why this started happening. I take good care of my iPod too. Resetting my iPod doesn't do anything. Sometimes Siri randomly pops up too. Even when my iPod is locked, these problems are still occurring. Please reply back to me ASAP

    If no earphones attached then:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

I recently upgraded my hard drive in my laptop, and am trying to have the ipod sync with the iTunes on the new hard drive in the laptop, but it says that on iPod can only be linked to one library at a time. Is there anything that I can do to take the music from my iPod to the hard drive? I have most of the music from the ipod backed up on and external hard drive, but not all. Please advise.

Is there anything that I can do to take the music from my iPod to the hard drive?
Use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
Most of these programs (like Yamipod) need iTunes to be closed so there's no chance of an accidental sync and deleting music from your iPod.
Once all the music on your iPod is safely stored in your iTunes library, you can click "yes" to any message asking if you want link your iPod to the new iTunes library.

  • How can I stop my entire library from Syncing up to my Iphone?

Not sure what happened after I restored my data to a new iphone. In Itunes I have only one specific folder marked to sync up my photos. But somehow Im getting my entire 3K plus pics from my Iphoto loaded into the Iphone. What am I doing wrong?

Did you try to delete the photo cache? Photo Sync creates iPod photo Cache
Did you check the content of the folder in iPhoto?

  • IPod 5th Gen. frozen on "Do Not disconnect" and computer won't recognize it

I tried to sync my iPod and ever since I plugged it in to my iBook G4 computer it is displaying the "Do Not Disconnect" screen. My computer does not recognize it - neither in iTunes or on Finder. I have disconnected it twice, plugged it back in twice and this seems to have absolutely no effect. Pressing the buttons on the iPod is equally useless. Any ideas?
    Thank you.

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are.
    Still no joy? See these.

  • IPod 5th Gen (Late 2006) won't turn on

My iPod 5th Gen (Late 2006) will not turn on. When I plug it into the wall charger it WILL turn on however nothing appears on the screen. The screen will constantly stay lit and will eventually turn a light shade of pink. It will NOT turn on and register with iTunes when I plug into a computer though. Could this be a battery issue? or something else?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT1386 I have an older iPod (5th gen, 30GB+video).  My computer crashed and itunes was no loner accessible on it.  On my new computer, how do I transfer the music from my iPod to the library in iTunes that is on my new computer?

I have an older iPod (5th gen, 30GB+video) that I had connected to my computer with iTunes.  That computer crashed and the only place my music is stored is on my iPod.  How do I move that music to the iTunes program (version 8) on my new computer.  When I connect my iPod to my new computer the music shows up in my iPod's music directory but I can't move it to the library.
