How do I stop lion mail embedding image attachments

I have tried everything I know to get around this but I can't seem to just send images as attachments.
My clients are now getting really fed up with it and it is probably loosing me business.
I write an email I click the attach Icon - it embeds the image in the email.
EVERY client is complaining they can't get the picture out the email and that's everyone from Blackberry users to Outlook users.
NEVER had the problem before switching to LION now I can't stop it.
Tried converting to plain text.
Tried windows friendly.
Tried add to end of message.
Tried showing attachment as icon instead.
Only thing that works is Zipping it up - but some 'secretaries' dont know what to do with that, and they can't install additional software on the works computer...blah, blah.... just more hassle.
This is ridiculas! is there a solution before I go out an by a PC to send emails!
Thanks.

Try the Terminal command on this blog....

  • How do I stop Lion Mail from "changing flags?"

I noticed that the new Lion Mail (5) gets hung up. When I check the activity pane, it always says "Changing Flags." Clicking the stop sign icon will stop this temporarily, but every few hours Mail gets hung up on this again.
    Any idea what's going on?

    Hi Douglass,
You will need to navigate to the following folder.
    /Users/yourusername/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
and backup the following file... MessageRules.plist
Open the file in BBedit to confirm your rules are infact inside that particular plist file as Mail will also create backups occasionally.
Once you reinstall, do a compare/replace with the newly created MessageRules.plist and you should be able to bring your "old" rules into your fresh install.
as for mailboxes, those are contained within this folder
    /Users/yourusername/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes
and it will be up to you to backup those files and File/Import Mailboxes them into the new install.

  • How do I stop bulk mail showing up in notification center on iphone5s?

How do I stop bulk mail from showing up in the notification center?

The attachments are not embedded. It is called inline or viewed in place which is different.
When attaching image/photo attachments and smaller PDF attachments (1-2) pages, these type of attachments are shown inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default which cannot be turned off - when sending and receiving.
You can control-click on a viewed in place attachment and select View as Icon. Regardless, all Mail.app attachments are sent as true attachments to the message.
Depending on the recipient's email client and available preference settings, such attachments may appear inline or viewed in place with the message is opened by the recipient (as with the Mail.app) or as attached files only which must be opened separately for which we have no control over.
I prefer this feature since it ensures that I have selected the correct image/photo attachment before the message is sent and I always add all attachments after I've finished composing the message below all text.
You can use a 3rd party Mail.app plugin called Mail Attachments Iconizer which can be downloaded at the following link.
    http://lokisw.com/index.php?item=MailAttachmentsIconizer
Regarding the two attachments that appear, the extra attachment is the Apple resource fork for the file which is invisible to fellow Mac users. This doesn't occur with all Windows users since it depends on the Windows version and email client and version the recipient is running.
Beginning with Panther (10.3), the Mail.app includes a send Windows Friendly Attachments feature.
Check Windows users have problems with files I send and be sure to include the filename extensions, such as .doc, in the names of all files you send to Windows recipients. This way the files can be read by a Windows application.

  • How do I stop sharing mail with other users on my computer

How do I stop sharing mail with other users on my Macbook pro?

You may have to set up different user accounts in the computer if you wish to
continue sharing the computer among other people, and only use the Mail app.
Otherwise, if you use a webmail such as yahoo, gmail, or other, just use a browser
and login each time; then there is no saving of your email to the computer as such.
I've never used an email client software, nor had an ISP based email account. So
my numerous computers have never downloaded email into software. No loss.
But the answers do include setting up extra user accounts, not admin level, so the
other users do not mess with the operating system; a standard account or just a
guest account to use a browser to access web-based login email accounts, works.
There are third-party email client for OS X, some are free applications, others are
part of a larger browser product, such as SeaMonkey, & other Mozilla derivatives.
They provide an email segment or client aspect; unlike Firefox that's a browser.
Setup information should be within the Help viewer in the computer itself. Or by a
simple search online, including the OS X version and any email client software
your computer may have installed. Some browser software includes email client.
Also there are several ways to go in this matter. I don't see questions, only answers.
To learn how the Mail application works, if you want to import everyone's mail, then
figure how to set up user accounts in the OS X. Or use web-mail & login by browser.
Hopefully you can find the best solution for the unasked question.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • I have a MacBook Pro how can I stop spam mail

How can I stop unwanted mail, i.e. Bulk mail and spam ?

You can't, other than by changing to a new email address and then never giving that out to anyone other and very trusted friends and families. All you can do is try to filter such messages. Mail in Mac OS X has a Junk Mail filter, as may your email provider, or you can use a third-party filter. I use SpamSieve and have found it well worth the cost. For identifiable senders, you can also set a Rule in Mail to mark junk messages as Read and move them automatically to the mail trash.
    Regards.

  • How do I stop lion from opening all previously opened files on restart?

How do I stop lion from opening all previously opened files on restart?  I want to wipe all open files, since that seems to be the most efficient way to close lots & lots of open files (that build up over the course of normal activities)

One way is to always quit all applications before you shut down.
An easy way to do this (although in my own experience it doesn't seem to always work perfectly) is to simply hit CMD + TAB + Q and hold down all three keys.
When you do that the computer will cycle through all open apps and close them. If there are any open files that haven't been saved, it won't close them. So you should save everything you want to save before you hit CMD + TAB + Q.

  • How do I stop Mac Mail from sending an unauthorized "out of office" message to a few, not all, my associates

How do I stop Mac Mail from sending an unauthorized "Out off Office" reply to several, not all, of my associates emails?  Only happens with me.com mailbox, not Earthlink.  Am not getting some important e-mail from brokerage and business associates.

If Earthlink is unaffected it is probably a settimg in me.com.  Log into me.com account in a browser such as Safari (will get icloud.com) and select the settings (gear) icon bottom left, and then click on the airplane icon. Make sure vacation setting is unchecked.

There is no such option/setting on an iPhone to determine this. Whether you can view the attachment has more to do with your connection, WiFi or cellular, and the size of the attachment than anything else. There will be a paperclip indicating the message includes an attachment regardless if downloaded with the message or not. When connected to the cellular network, if an attachment is below a designated size the attachment will be downloaded automatically. If over a certain size, you must select the attached file icon in the body of the message to download the attachment. The size limit varies by carrier/provider.

You either remove your Yahoo email address from the device or you turn of the 'Mail' option for that account under Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

  • How do I stop receiving Mail alerts on the iPad? E.g when browsing Safari a Mail alert box will pop up when I receive a new email. I don't want this alert. Thanks.

How do I stop receiving Mail alerts on the iPad?
e.g. When browsing in Safari I will be interrupted by a 'ping' sound and a Mail alert box every time a new email comes in to my Inbox. This is irritating. How do I stop this? To see if I have new Mail I just prefer to go to Mail and my Inbox at convenient intervals.
    Thank you.

The same way you'd change any notifications: Settings>Notifications>Mail. Change it to "Banner" or "None".

It is Kaspersky that is doing that. It intercepts the content and passes that image to Firefox instead of the real content. You should complain on the Kaspersky forum about this if you disagree with the decision made by Kaspersky to send such an image in this case.
You can look at Adblock Plus instead.

  • How can I stop Lion tidying my desktop and putting all my icons in alphabetical order. I like my files to stay where I put them!

How can I stop Lion tidying my desktop and putting all my icons in alphabetical order. I like my files to stay where I put them! Every morning I boot up and all my desktop items have been moved. How can I stop this?
By the way - Lion is the worst 'upgrade' ever.

    Hello again:
I've been to 'view' - and all I can see are the same options as before. Nothing which says the equivalent of 'stop Lion tidying my desktop alphabetically every time I boot up' - alas.
    Hmmm.  Try something:
Trash a preference file (com.apple.finder.plist) and restart.  Then go to the view option while in Finder.  There should be a "show view options."  Select that and sort by "none."
FWIW, I have had no discernable change in speed under OS X 10.7, but that is just my system.  I only use Adobe's free stuff.  Have you checked with Adobe to see if there are updates available?  I rarely use text edit so I have no benchmark.  I don't like the missing save as either
    Barry
P.S.  I am not being contrary - I just like to learn from the experiences of others.

  • Lion mail embeds PDF's in the message

My PDF attachments in Apple mail with lion are nearly always embedded in the message. How can I stop this?

Not that I know of. The only trick I know is to use Mail Scripts to send all drafts at once. The problem is that apparently there is an issue that crops up when using the "Send all Drafts" script in Leopard.
