How do i stop losing my internet connection?

I am running with OS 10.5.8. Today I started randomly losing my internet connection. It is not caused by the computer going in to sleep mode as I have seen other threads mention. I connect to the internet wirelesssly but Airport indicates there is nothing wrong with my connection and all the other computers in the house are functioning just fine.
The only time I can get the internet to work is after I turn off AirPort and turn it back on, then it will only work for a few seconds. Network Diagnostics is no help, it tells me my connection is fine. I have tried deleting the network profile and recreating it, rebooting the system, resetting the PRAM, and making sure the software is up-to-date (when I can get a connection). All these attempts only make it work for a few seconds before it quits again.
Does anybody know how to fix this? Has anybody else experienced the same problem?

Hi Turn Router off for 30 seconds Goto Settings Reset Network Settings After reset you need to enter your router wireless key. Also later check on website for a Firmware update for your router. Cheers Brian

did u ever get a solution to this? I have the same 2012 mines 27". It drops after sleep sometimes and can't find anything. Wifi. Connection to the Internet. I pull up network assistant it just gives me blank stares and restart everything. It doesn't even see the time machines and they are still there. I have it right now in full error and my iphones allowing me to see everything as connected and I'm posting here in the forum while my iMac cannot. Doesn't happen all the time. Not sure why it happens or what's goinng on with It. Works great and then sudden wifi failure to recognize.

There is no reliable way. Better test whether you can go to where you want to go. And be prepared to support proxies, even the complex ones that require authentication.
System.Net.NetworkInformation.NetworkInterface.GetIsNetworkAvailable reports your local connectivity regardless of whether one of your connected networks has Internet access.
Microsoft's Network Awareness API (the one used in control panel\network and sharing center) use a connection test to a web site setup by Microsoft. But your customers could be behind cooperative firewalls that make this test unusable even when Internet
access is available though other means (e.g. via a local proxy server). If you want to connect to your own web site, then you can skip that and just connect to your web site instead. Even if you were able to connect to Microsoft's web site there is no guarantee
your web site would be accessible in the same network.

If security is critical use a wired ethernet connection preferably with a fixed IP and the router's DHCP server turned off.

If you are connecting directly to your WiFi router which coonects to your ISP modem then another computer is not involved.

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Is that Interface dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

You and your wife have separate Windows accounts, or do you share a single Windows account and just have separate email accounts?
Outlook Express -- the stand-alone email program shipped with Windows XP -- doesn't depend on Firefox except if you click a link in a message in OE, it will open in your default browser, which may be Firefox. Really should not be a problem to open/close Outlook Express whether Firefox is open/closed/installed/missing.
If you have switched to Outlook.com, the latest iteration of Hotmail, the situation may be different. If you are sharing a single Windows account, then you most likely are sharing Firefox and Microsoft probably does not let you be in two accounts at the same time in one Firefox session without logging out of one account and then into the other.

When I connect to a WiFi connection on my laptop, my iPhone always connects to the same network, even though I've explicitly told my iPhone to forget about specific networks.This issue ends up disabling the internet on my iPhone, as I often connect to networks on my laptop that require VPN connections, logins, etc that I am unable or unwilling to do on my iPhone. Let me give you an example. I'm at a United lounge at O'Hare Airport right now. They have WiFi here but it requires that you log on in order to connect to the internet. I connect to WiFi from my laptop. All good. Then, immediately, my iPhone connects to the same network. But because I haven't logged on from my iPhone, I can't get online. This kills the internet on my iPhone because I'm connected to a network with no internet access. If on my iPhone I "Forget this Network" and then come back next week, I'll find that it connects to the exact same network.
I travel a lot and almost all of the networks I use on a daily basis require a login of some sort.
I could turn off WiFi but then I have to remember to turn it on when I actually do want to connect to a network, like when I'm at home.
Any idea how to prevent the mirroring of WiFi connections? Or at a minimum make sure the "Forget this Network" option actually works?

After surfing the internet for a while I lose my wireless connection from my laptop. I have other computers directly connected to the Router that dont lose internet connection ever. Its just my laptop and it drives me crazy. I have to reboot the laptop to connect to the internet again. I have a WRT54GS Router with a WPC54GS pcmcia card. Can anyone help?

How to maintain a dial up internet connection?

I have a mac mini and a simple dial up connection. Lately I've been getting a prompt on my computer to 'stay connected', or 'disconnect'. Since I'm new to mac I can't seem to find any configuration in the preferences window of the "internet connect" that will ensure an uninterupted connection. Can anyone tell me where to look in system preferences that will solve the problem for me? This only began a few weeks ago when I moved the computer from one room to another. I used to have an application that began the internet connection upon login to my computer.

Hi. Give this a try. Open your System Preferneces and then click the Network settings. Under the "Show" pop-up menu select Internal Modem, then click the "PPP" tab. Now select "PPP Options..." and under "Session Options:" un-check the option "Disconnect if idle for...". Assuming this was checked in the first place, unchecking it should keep you connected now and get rid of the connection message that's been nagging you.
Hope that does it, but post back if it doesn't or if anything in the above is unclear.
