How do I stop multi calendar notifications?

I'm sync'd to another .mac account with multiple calendars (I hope that makes sense). I rely on the pop up alarm notifications. The other person who shares the account can not stand them. Even when that person deselects my calendars (as in, he can not see them at all), he continues to receive the notificatons assigned to these 'hidden' calendars. Is there any way to stop that and still allow for me to utilize the feature?
G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Thanks for the quick response, John.
I'm afraid I don't properly know the difference between syncing and subscribing. I suspect I'm strictly syncing. Let's put it this way: I pretend to be another person when I log on to the .mac account. My calendar 'syncs' with this other person, so he and I are like the same person, but on two different machines. I've stood in this person's office and watched him deselect my calendars, but he still gets my notifications. I find the whole thing rather amusing, but he doesn't seem to share my mirth. Given this additional information, is there anything else I can do to stop the notifications on his end?

Notifications ...  how do I stop getting email notifications?  I like this site but now I get 20-50 or more notifications a day in my email.  I would rather shut that off and check back on my own now....

Once you've turned off notifications, you won't get new ones. But you still have to cancel the notifications you've been receiving. This thread explains how at the top: https://discussions.apple.com/static/apple/tutorial/email.html

If it doesn't stop I will have to resort to changing my email address.

  • How do I stop the calendar showing past birthdays?

I want the Birthday Calendar on my iPhone but it's very annoying that it shows past birthdays going back a year or more, Does anyone know how do I stop the calendar showing past birthdays?

You said it is showing past birthdays, which means past.
The Birthdays calendar shows birthdays for contacts with a birthdays entry in the Contacts app. It shows the birthday for such a contact this year, the following year, and for the previous or past year.

    Hi,
From the calendar list on the left in Calendar select the calendar you don't want notifications from. Then press Cmd-I (get info) and in the panel that appears check the 'Ignore alerts' option.

Settings App > Notification Center > App Store. You can take it out of Notifications altogether, or adjust the settings. (Turning OFF Show in Lock Screen might be enough).

  • I don't want to upgrade to Firefox 5 because it won't let me use the Google toolbar. How can I stop the constant notifications?

I have Firefox 4.01, retrieved (thankfully) after installing Firefox 5. I noticed upon installation that my Google Toolbar was gone and the notification said Google Toolbar was not compatible with the new version of Firefox. After retrieving the copy of 4.01 from oldversions.com, I started getting bombarded with requests to upgrade to Firefox 5.0. This goes on all day, all night...it never stops. Is there a place I can ask you guys to please stop? I'll upgrade when you make this version compatible with Google's Toolbar.

The replies don't address the question: "I started getting bombarded with requests to upgrade to Firefox 5.0. This goes on all day, all night...it never stops. Is there a place I can ask you guys to please stop?"
I have the same problem: I also don't want to upgrade to 5.0 (4.0 messed me up enough and I finally got that straightened out). How do I stop those annoying requests? It should have a "No" option.
Please email replies to [email protected] Thanks.

  • Make Mail app stop sending calendar notifications?

Is there a way to completely disable OS X Mail.app sending Calendar notifications? I use Postbox for mail and I'd like to use Calendar. But with  Apple Mail firing up everytime to send notications, I might have to just use the browser for my calendar (I use google apps).
    Thanks.

First, make sure you have an outgoing mail account corresponding to each of your incoming mail accounts. The user names must match. Then make sure the right outgoing account is selected when you send. You can change the default selection in

  • How can I stop Exchange calendar event copies appearing in drafts?

I use Outlook 2010 on a Windows machine at work. On my MacBook I use Outlook 2011 and have the Exchange calendar configured for iCal. Sync'ing works fine, except this one annoyance.
Since upgrading to Mountain Lion copies of existing, repeating calendar events keep appearing in my Outlook drafts folder. Every few days I have to empty it, sometimes from 50 event copies or more.

I too, was experiencing this. There seems to be no indication of a solution anywhere on the web. HOWEVER, I figured it out.
Here's the solution: Strangely, it's not really an exchange issue, but rather an issue with calendaring on the OSX side.
So you understand, here's the configuration that can cause problems:
you are using an exchange server to connect your email/calendar/notes/tasks...
You use a PC (or VM PC) for some/most of your exchange/outlook activities
You may or may not have MS Office 2011 (Mac) installed.
You have one or more Apple devices connected to your exchange account (iPhone, iPad, any Mac)
After installing Mountain lion, you start noticing events being magically duplicated every few minutes in your outlook draft folder. If you delete an event, another one takes its place.
    HERE IS THE FIX:
Short answer: Sync all calendars on all devices
On the apple side (OSX, IOS) you MUST turn on calendar sync in all the exchange accounts on all your devices. I thought I had, then discovered that my MS Office Outlook on my Mac was missing that sync. It doesn't seem to matter which apple device is missing the sync, it only takes one of them. Once you set calendar sync to "on" for all the apple devices that access that calendar, just like magic, the phantom multi event creation stops.
You should check all MS products on the OSX/IOS devices AND all apple devices that allow syncing. I haven't turned on notes sync through the cloud, so that isn't one of the items that cause problems.
If you do this and the multi still appears, you missed something on one of your apple devices.
    Sweet!
