How do I stop my computer from going to the standard user account when I wake it from sleep

When I wake my computer from sleep it logs on the standard user account. I need it to go to the administrator account so I can log on to that .

Hello rnash62.  I understand you'd like to automatically log into your Administrator account when waking from sleep.
What notebook do you have?  Please identify it by the product number.  This document can show you where it is located.
What version of Windows are you running?
Once I have this information I should be able to provide you with instructions.
I hope you have a great day and an amazing weekend!

  • I can not log in to thunderbird. It automatically goes to the previous users account when I try to log in.

Thunderbird automatically goes to the account of the last user. We are a retail store and have 4 different accounts at the store but it goes directly to one. We used to have a list of names open when thunderbird opened but thats gone now. how can I fix this?

Depends upon how you have set this up.
Usually, if different people use the same computer, each person is issued with their own User Account which they log into using a password of their choice and then they start thunderbird.
Then each users Thunderbird profile folder and mail account is kept in each User Account.
This means that no one can access personal mail of another person without logging on to their User Account.
It also prevents the issue of opening wrong Profile.
But if you are all using a common User Account and Thunderbird has been set up to contain different Profiles each with own mail account, one per person, then you need to have the Profile Manager open prior to Thunderbird lauching so that the correct Profile can be opened on demand.
    Profile Manager:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager
There will be a check box 'Don't ask at startup'
you need to remove the check - deselect that option to force Profile Manager to ask at startup.
then you can select the desired Profile and click on 'Start thunderbird'.
This method is not so secure as anyone can access any Profile and read downloaded emails. If using this method it is advisable to never store any passwords as they can also be seen by others or use the Master Password setup to at least prevent other users from seeing stored passwords.

  • How can I stop my computer crashing after stating a major error message when I connect the iphone?

    Hi
I hope someone can help me as am at a loss on what is wrong. Trying to connect my iphone to computer to sync but all it does when I connect it is crash the system completely. Black screen with writing which doesn't stay on long enough for me to read what to do! Its a 3G iphone and had no problems on my old computer. This computer has Windows XP as did my old one so can't figure out why it wont have anything to do with this phone.
Has anyone got any ideas please? Am at my wits end and now wishing had my old computer back!
    Thanks

When you connect a new computer to your network the DHCP service of your router will assign it an IP address, which may or may not be the same as the IP address assigned to your old computer.  This, however, only effects networking and wouldn't have anything to do with a USB connection.  You do need to be running Windows XP SP2 or later (XP SP3 for iTunes 10.6) and your USB ports must be USB 2.0 to support the iPhone 3G so you may want to be sure your computer meets these minimum system requirements.  You might also want to try:
Using a different USB to dock connector cable
Connecting to a different USB port on your computer
Gently cleaning the dock connector on the bottom of the phone with a dry toothbrush
Ensuring that your case isn't interferring with the cable connection to the dock connector on the bottom of your phone

  • Hi I just brought an Iphone 5C from Ebay and the previous user didnt remove there Apple ID from the phone. Is there anyway Apple can remove this so I can use the phone is the phone useless cause I cannot come in contact with the buyer?

I Having  major issue ussing my Iphone that I brought on Ebay. IS this a junk phone now or can I go to apple to get this fixed for the Apple ID

    Probably...
The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required.
If you cannot get this information from the seller
Removing a device from a previous owner’s account
you need to return the Device for a refund, as you will not be able to re-activate it.

Apple will not / cannot help you.

Hi There! I have a question on Kernel Task-Threat. How can I clean my computer? This is the message that persists when cleaning disc--Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired.

That's a routine message and it means nothing. Don't waste your time repairing permissions unless you know you have a problem that can be solved that way, which you probably never will.

  • How do I permanently delete music files from itunes AND my  computer (without going to the folder to delete each item)? It's a windows system. I've tried 'reset all dialogue warnings' as I've been told to do but no luck. Files are still in Itunes folders.

Solved! Music was in Itunes folder but not in Media folder within that. It doesn't seem like a very user friendly system so far!

  • How do I stop my computer from sending emails to everyone in my address book

How do I stop my computer from sending emails to everyone in my address book? This is happening when I am not on my computer.

I've been using a local isp and have recently gotten my mac email up and running. I think you are correct about the limitation being from the local isp as I was able to right click and send to all 67 via the Bcc. Good info, thanks.
I promote the use of Bcc any chance I get. Seems so many out there just don't understand the forward/reply issue where names are scanned from nearly infinite lists of forwarded emails.

  • Stop images from going under the panels?

I don't know what happened but recently when I dock an image it resizes to the entire size of the photoshop window. The image edge stops on the left at the tool bar but on the right it goes underneath my panels. Another thing that started at the same time is an issue with mini bridge, as you can see it's attached to my panel but when I click the arrow to expand it it pushes the rest of the panel to the right and off screen.
Also I've been having issues with the "Fit Screen" button. I used to be able to have the window a certain size and when I'd hit Fit Screen the the window would keep its size but the image would zoom so there were those grey areas around the image, now when I Fit Screen it resizes the window as well. I've checked that the Zoom Resizes Window option is unchecked but nothing works. Please help! I know that there is an application frame option for Mac that supposedly fixes these issues but I'm on a PC (Windows7) so I don't have that option.

If you dock the panels on the right (layers, etc) like the toolbox is docked that will stop the image from going under the panels.
Just grab the top of the panels (red box in screenshot) and move to the right until you see a blue line, then release.

  • How do I keep iMessage from going to the upper right and out of sight?

Imessage in Mavericks at random, on sleep, and when minimized,  goes to upper right on the screen and I cant get it back. Even Mission control can not access it.  I have close iMessage and restart. How do I keep it from going to the upper right and out of sight?

    Hi,
I think a  Screen Shot will help.
Use the CMD+shift+4 and then decribe around the area when you see the cross hairs.
To Post here use the Camera icon in the reply screen and then select/navigate to the Screen Shot (normally on your Desktop) and select it.
Then use the Insert Image button.
I don't use Sleep so I can't speak to that.
Minimise should put it in the DOCK.
Do you mean coming out of Minimise ?
Actually where is your DOCK  (mine is at the bottom and I nearly forgot other people have it in different places)
If it is on the right is the Finder icon top of the icons ?
If the windows of an App are minimised then it does not appear in Mission Control (some of this is mixed with normal behaviour).

  • How to keep the right sidebar on this website from going under the main content (center) column?

Hi...is there a way to keep the right sidebar on this website from going under the main content (center) column when the browser window is made smaller? It would be great if the middle (main content) column could get smaller instead of the sidebar moving under the text when the window is made smaller. I'm working with a fluid layout and this is the first time I've tried this. Any help would be appreciated. Here is the link to the website:

    Warning: I am not a tech-pro!
Okay, I have a 2011 Mac Book Pro running OS X LION 10.75 (11G63) unsure what those last numbers mean but they were there so I thought perhaps it might be helpful to add them.
Recently I moved into a granny flat and pay $10 a week to use their unlimited internet wifi. I log into my wifi through this device called a WiFi Repeater? It's plugged into the wall in my unit, as I warned I am not incredibly tech savvy so I am only guessing when I say I suppose this extends the main wifi signal from the actual home owners upstairs big modem? Any who.... A few times I have seen in the Finder Memu ot says 'Shared' and under that 'Wendys PC' (Wendy is the homeowner) then if you click on it it tries to connect but won't or there is a 'Connect As' option which brings up a little screen saying - connect as wendy, which requires a password or connect as guest which doesn't look like it requires a password- I'm not certain because I've never tried to connect any further, I only pressed that initial connect button when I had mentioned to Wendy I could see her PC & she asked me to press connect & prove I could not in fact connect (I'm starting to despise the word 'connect' since having to type this post about connection). So... We just kind of let it go. It did really worry me that Wendy (who worked in the tech field for years in particular with an Internet provider, could possibly connect to my computer and nosey through all my files- and to be honest, that would not actually suprise me. She is incredibly 'inquisitive'... And that's putting it mildly. I do have a password on my Mac Book Pro but I don't think that would be that hard to break through/hack if you have the knowledge/software. And yes, I do have confidential files on there! Banking/business/private photos (I'm trying to lose weight so take one nude photo per day to do a time lapse of myself in a year or two- obviously for myself not for others eyes lol and I would literally die in the *** if someone ever saw these). So basically I have good reason to protect my privacy. As does everyone! Anyway my first question is - Could she log in and how could I tell if she had? Now, the second part of this ridiculously long question (my apologies) is I was logged into my personal account all last night & this morning. As I stated- it IS password protected. The user account is not. Before I went out (and I can't actually recall if I closed the lid or not when I rushed out today... Usually I do but maybe I didnt... Whatevs) So, I get home and activate the screen by moving my finger on the touch pad and lo & behold I'm straight away looking at a totally different screen? It took me a few seconds to realise why my desktop looked completely different with none of my files etc... It was - as you've probably guessed- because I was in fact in the guest user account. Now, I didn't even have to click ON 'Guest User' as I normally have to. When you turn my Mac on it always comes up with - 'My Full Name' (one account login) and then 'Guest User' (the second account login option).... So you HAVE to choose which one you want! But my screen was straight away logged into the Guest Users desktop! I did NOT do this guys! So, of course now I'm extremely concerned that either she, her husband or their son whom is visiting for the weekend - have either a) logged in remotely on one of their computers or b) have come into my home and tried logging in & then forgot to log out of the guest account. I want to know if there is any way to find out what they did, what they opened if they did, how to stop it from both happening at all or if my suspicions are in fact happeninh AGAIN   And I guess on a more personal, less tech involved note - how would you all deal with such a situation? Let it go? Or be upfront about the fears/concerns I am experiencing since moving in just over a month ago. AND most importantly - IS there any other reason -other than someone physically logging into my guest user account & failing/forgetting to log back out so that when I got home & activated my screen I was actually looking at the guest user desktop's account instead of the Mail application screen in the 'My Full Name' password protected user account where I had actually left it before rushing out.... Like, is there ANY other possibly explanation for my user account being logged into when I'd left it on my own account t before I left that doesn't include someone in the house hacking/breaking into/snooping through my Mac? Also- you should understand that when I leave my Mac for just a few minutes I have it set up so that the computer screen 'sleeps' (I'm assuming that's the correct term) so that if for instance -exactly like this morning- I have to rush out and don't want to/don't have time to save work/quit applications/shut down etc... I can walk away leaving the laptop as is knowing within a few minutes the screen saver comes up (and if that's ledr for long enough it goes into sleep mode) and no one can actually enter my private account without my password. I feel safe knowing that.
    Sorry.... I FELT safe.
I'm truly sorry for how long-winded this question has become, I simply wanted to give anyone possibly willing to help me sort out this issue, as much information as possible. I think I have actually only posted here once before (I find these sort of forums quite intimidating) and I often see people getting bashed for not providing enough information. So, I'm pretty sure I'll get picked on for too many words if anything!!?! Lol
Thank you, in advance for your help!
    Olivia;-).

    Ouch.
Not easily. You could try data recovery software... maybe SubRosaSoft's File Salvage or the like.

  • How do I get firefox to up date from a standard user account....or at least tell me to log on as administrator and update?

I do almost all my work from a standard user account. Firefox neither automatically updates (as I set it to) or informs me an update is available.
How do I get Firefox to update automatically when I am logged on as a standard user....or at least tell me to switch to admin account and update?

Let me add a note to the developers: WE ARE ALL NOT ADMINISTRATORS!
Even on our own personal computers.
I claim that administrator accounts are for administering, or developing; not using. I wouldn't be an administrator for longer than is necessary than walk down the centre of a highway with my eyes closed.
I'll repeat: Mozilla really should prevent the 'Update' button showing to an ordinary user if it's not going to be possible to use it.

  • What is the best way to limit the audio from going over the -11 volume?

What is command or the tools in the menu list that gives you the option to limit the volume in the audio tracks so they don't go past the -11?
In Sound Track Pro you can "normalize" the volume but this also affects the volume levels of the softer passages too. We only need to stop the audio from going past the -11 decibel.
    Thank you,
    <Edited by: Host>

Apply the Compressor/Limiter filter. Once you have it set up for one audio clip, you can use the Paste Attributes command to apply it to others.
BTW, don't post your email and phone number in your messages. The forums are accessible to anyone and searchable via Google. It also leaves you at the mercy of spammers. I have asked a moderator to remove them.
