I purchase songs and convert them to mp3 and then delete AAC files so as to not have duplicates which I've done for years since the new update the iphone automatically transfers all the AAC files from the iphone thus creating duplicates I have tried deleting icloud turning off automatic downloads both on itunes and the iphone but everytime I sync my songs are doubled

It is doing it when I am trying to add contacts, Safari, messages just to name a few...

Well, earlier in the year I had a Hard Drive failure. After having it fixed not all my files where on my Mac, including my iTunes media. So I connect my iPhone and it asks me if I want to transfer purchases? I click yes, the transfer wnet fine but some old media transferd too. I didn't want it so I simply deleted it. But when I plug my iPhone in now, it automatically says transfering purchases from Alex's iPhone. I then clicked on the "X" to cancel the task. After I create say a word document, file it on my desktop and then shut down my machine. The next time I open up the MacBook the file icon has been removed from the desktop. I can still retrieve the file in a folder labeled with the month I created it. But why has the OS removed it from the desktop and how can I stop it happening?
It happens to alias icons as well!

Its not my home page, Like I said, I hae my home page also come up in a different tab (google) I also get the welcome to FF4 on a seperate tab. My home page is set to google. But I dont want the welcome screen to pop up

Is this for a computer model or an iDevice model? If the former you've posted in the wrong forum. But here's the answer.
Open General preferences in System Preferences. There are two options you can check that affect this behavior:
Check the boxes you thing you prefer. When you next shutdown the computer you should be asked in a dialog about reopening applications on restart. Select the option to not reopen.

Unfortunately that was empty too. The Firefox upgrade at that time seemed to wipe an awful lot of stuff. After searching, re-installing etc, whatever was suggested, I gave up. It was a while back. I will remember your suggestions if it ever (hopefully not) happens again though. I did have a very old bookmarks backup, but that would not import, so I did use bits of it manually but it had saved as a massive merged line of sites without my folders, so was a bit too much to fiddle with. The loss of the classical music sites was what I regretted most, no idea what they were called and cannot find some of them now. Ah well, no point in fretting about it now I suppose.
