When attempting to add simple text on an individual layer, the layer is turning black. This prevents me from seeing the text I'm editing. When I move to another layer the text displays correctly. When I go to edit the text by clicking the image the layer goes black again. It is like editing text in the dark, turning the light on to see the changes, turning the light off to make the changes, repeat.
Has anyone else seen this?
Are there any suggested resolutions?

Update your graphics driver or turn off OpenGL in the prefs. Naturally, also check for potentiall harmful "bad" fonts and reset your text palettes.

I had my iPhone resting on my desk unplugged for quite some time, and when I decided to make a call, the phone was really hot I could not hold it against my face, the phone turned off and the call was lost. I look at the screen and it was turning off and on automatically, it's been doing so for 3hrs and I don't know what to do. I've already tried to turn it off and it won't even turn off. I'm contemplating whether to go to an AT&T store for advice or call the apple store. It's Friday 08/23/2013 and this hasn't happened to me before, will someone please help? Thanks in advance.

When you log out or shut down, there will be a checkbox that asks you if you want to reopen windows when you log in. Just uncheck this box. If that isn't it, you may have login items turned on. Go to System Preferences>Users and Groups and then under your name click the Login Itens tab. Make sure nothing is there.
If you want to stop windows from restoring when you open applications (so for example when you open Safari it doesn't open the 50 tab page you just had open when you quit) go to SystemPreferences>General and then hit the checkbox that says Close windows when quitting an application.

I have the OPPOSITE problem most people have -- Windows Sharing works TOO WELL.
I've donated a refurbished eMac to the local homeless shelter. I figured I'd made the system secure, and prevented any monkey business. Turns out the windows machines on the network are COMPLETELY insecure (guest access to everything is enabled). The problem is that the Mac is TOO friendly -- it automatically connects to the server as a guest, and happily presents everything to the user.
I've tried a dozen different things (I've removed the 'Shared' section from the sidebar in the Finder windows (Go->Network is still there, Doh.), tried to turn off File Sharing, and even disabled the mount_smbfs command in the /sbin directory with "chmod 0 mount_smbfs".)
I've asked the folks there to call in a PC tech and fix their security problem -- but it's a good question to which I've found no suitable answer... How to I stop the Mac from connecting to SMB Shares on the local network?

Same problem, keep getting a pop up with connection failed you do not have permission to access the server. The server is a windows 7 box, Starting happening after an up grade to windows 7. Everything that you have checked in your icloud settings will be shared between devices using the same Apple ID. If you don't want icloud to share that information, then simply turn off that process under settings > icloud

If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
If that doesn't work:
• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

And before it's mentioned, no, Turing off Reduce Motion has absolutely NO effect on the auto enlarge feature that apple stupidly thought would be a good idea. The Reduce Motion ONLY stops the background from subtly shifting as you turn or angle the iDevice.

It should be my choice, not apples.
And I agree. But neither of us is a programming engineer at Apple, and so don't get to make those decisions. The user tip I wrote was based on the fact I didn't like it either, and was trying to figure out why it was scaling an image up in the first place, and then how to fix it as best as possible.
Since you've locked your iPad to one orientation, you should be able to copy your custom image off to your Mac (assuming you own one) and use an image editor, such as Photoshop Elements, to add pixel area to the narrow dimension to make it the same number of pixels as the larger dimension. Increase the canvas size so the extra space leaves the original narrower dimension centered, as in this example:
Copy it back to your iPad and select the modified image. Since it's square, it shouldn't scale.
