How do I stop my macbook from going into sleep mode while watching netflix

Hi can somebody give me a hand?

Open System Preferences > Energy Saver
Move the sliders for as long as needed to watch the movie.
Deselect:  Put hard disks to sleep when possible
After watching the movie, in System Preferences > Energy Saver, rremember to click:  Restore Defaults to save wear and tear on the hard drive.

  • How can I stop my Macbook from going to sleep whilst I load the operating system (10.5) on?

I'm trying very unsuccessfully to reinstall the system from scratch, so that I have a clean computer. I'm starting with 10.5 and then going to upgrade in increments from that to the last operating system the computer will run, which is 10.6.8.
Firstly I've wiped the hard disk in Disk Tools and then started it up from the master disk of 10.5, and its telling me it will take 64 hours and some minutes to install, so I can't keep moving the mouse to stop it going to sleep for that long.
I know it sounds as though something is wrong, but I have run both Disk Tools and Tech Tool Pro through it and both say there's nothing wrong with either the computer or the hard disk, and it was running fine (if slow - but that's its age!) prior to this clean install.
This computer is the first of the intel Macbooks and is a single core intel processor with 1gb of Ram.
What I need to do is to stop it going to sleep during the install, as every time it does it just halts the install and over night, for instance, I'm no further forward than I was the night before, even though I left it going all night.
All I'm trying to do is get it to 10.6.8 so that I can run Bootcamp on it and turn it into a PC to do my accounts (and no, the software we use only runs on PC, but Paralles, VMWare Fusion etc still make it painfully slow to use, and It's bad enough having to do accounts without having to wait for it to do every move...)
I can't go straight to 10.6 as the only copies we have of this are "drag and drop" upgrades that Apple supplied with 3 of our other Macs. Also the computer won't read dual layer DVDs (too old) so I can't load the full copy we have made of the OS.

It's simply called Photos and there is no options/setting thing on it. I have windows 8, it's a stand alone photo library viewer.

  • How to stop the macbook from going to sleep

How do you stop my macbook from going to sleep when you close the screen? Like when you want to just move it around but do not want it to sign off or anything. Thanks guys

Well I just spent the past hour restoring my system after installing ismonia. I shut the lid and then reopened it. All was great, then the laptop wouldn't shut down. I tried to fix the disk with Disk Utility but it shut down on its own. It wouldn't startup.
If you try it make sure you have a recent backup.

  • Macbook spontaneously goes into sleep mode and screen off mode

Hi. My Macbook spontaneously goes into sleep mode and screen off mode with varying time between each instance. It usually goes for a few minutes or even hours without doing it and then will go through periods of fluctuation between the modes. I believe this to have started with a minor orange juice accident rather than it being anything software related.
Any ideas as to how I might rectify the problem? Thanks very much in advance,
    Danny

When you say it goes into sleep mode ...do you mean you actually see the white pulsing light?
It may be that there is an application running (perhaps in the background) that is keeping your book awake. Printer software sometimes does this for example ...try logging out and seeing if it sleeps like that. If it does, then it very well may be a background process running.
You may find some items in System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items that may be the culprit.

  • How can I stop my phone from going into the lock screen while talking on it? (New issue with ios 6)

Prior to ios 6, I could talk on my phone and have the mute button available. Now it goes into lock mode while speaking on the phone. This is terribly annoying when on conference calls and you want to mute/unmute, or just hang up a call. I now have to swipe to unlock, go to phone, and hang up or unmute. I've tried upping my timeout, but that just delays the inevitable.

Yep, it's a pain.  What's even more concerning is that at the Genius Bar, he was trying to tell me that this is the was it was supposed to be, so they probably fixed it in OS 6.  He said it is for people that are using "Bluetooth" and want to keep the phone in their pockets".  Ridiculous!  What compounds the issue is that the Apple Reps have no clue as to what's going on, and either do the senior tech's on the phone.  As I said in my message, this has made it very cumbersome, and makes it very difficult for those who need to use wired headsets.

  • Macbook pro goes into sleep mode after few minutes and won't wake up

Since yesterday my MB pro suddenly goes in sleep mode while working and won't wake up. After reset the MB Pro goes into Sleepmode befor I get the log in screen. After resettin SMC and PRAM I can log in but after a few minutes, againg deep sleep. I'ts not a software isue I think because when I use my MB Pro's harddrive by firewire as the startup disk on an other macbook it works fine. anyone knows about this problem?

It sounds obvious but are you sure your power adapter is ok and the battery is charged. The behaviour sounds a lot like low battery sleep.
Press the check button on your battery pack - do you get plenty of lights?

  • My iPad randomly goes into sleep mode while I am using it?

All of a sudden, when ever I use my iPad 2 it goes into sleep mode. It did it three times while I typed this message.  As I am running an app it will just go into sleep mode with out me doing so and I have to press the home button to wake it up. Doesn't matter what app I am running. I have 4gb of storage available.  Most of the time it brings me back to the app I was using when it went to sleep.  Has anyone else suffered this issue. I am running the latest iOS 6.0.

What "issue"? This is perfectly normal. By default, all (fairly-recent) Apple products will go to sleep if left idle for a certain period of time. This is NOT normal, however, if in the app, you are pressing buttons on the screen. If you are doing something like reading, for example, try setting your iPad to not go to sleep that quickly.
(Google how, I don't completely remember.)

  • HT4199 How do I stop my Computer from going to sleep and disconnecting from wi-fi during downloads

Sometimes my iMac goes to sleep while I'm in the process of downloading updates, etc and disconnects me from my Wi-fi. Is there a way to change this setting?

Hello rnash62.  I understand you'd like to automatically log into your Administrator account when waking from sleep.
What notebook do you have?  Please identify it by the product number.  This document can show you where it is located.
What version of Windows are you running?
Once I have this information I should be able to provide you with instructions.
I hope you have a great day and an amazing weekend!

  • Macbook Pro goes into sleep mode randomly

I have a Macbook Pro, early 2011 version running Mountain Lion. Sometimes, it doesnt matter  what I am doing but it will be running fine and then out of no where the screen will go black. I assume it goes to sleep because the sleep light goes on. It take a couple minitues for it to "wake up," more than from a usual sleep. Is there something wrong with my computer? Is there a quick fix for it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Power or other problems related to unexpected system sleep, shutdown, lights or fans call for an SMC reset:
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • My Mac goes into sleep mode while playing videos or DVDs.

This started happening last week. I was watching Veronica Mars and all of a sudden my computer goes to sleep. At first I though it was because I had it on energy saver mode, but it just kept on happening. Tonight I wanted to watch Camp Rock on Disney XD and after a few minutes it shut down. I went on You Tube to watch my friend's videos and the same thing happened. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Welcome to Discussions - the problem is probably overheating, which causes your computer to sleep. Look in you Applications>Utilities>Console and see if your System log shows "maximum temperature exceeded for 30 seconds". This would indicate a problem with your Power Supply Unit or a faulty temperature sensor. You should take it in to be looked at.

  • My Macbook Pro goes into sleep mode despite disabling it in Energy Center. It won't wake up without a hard reboot. Why?

I have a LaCie thunderbolt external storage device attached. All the reboots are of concern for this device. I've tried cntrl-option-eject to no avail.  Only the power switch works.

  • How do I stop my MacBook from ONLY booting in Safe Mode

I have a new Intel MacBook with 512 Mhz of Memory. My granddaughter loaded about 8 programs from the dock all at the same time. Now, the computer will only boot up in safe maode. Does anyone know how I can get the machine to boot up properly? And yes, I have turned it off and on normally to see if this would fix the problem - but no luck. Help!!
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

"Now, the computer will only boot up in safe
    mode."
In my earlier response I assumed that you booted into
safe mode by holding down the Shift key during
    startup.
Upon reconsideration, I'm wondering if you meant
instead that the computer boots into safe mode by
itself, without your holding down the shift key. If
so, this would indicate that the computer suspected
some inconsistency in the filesystem and is booting
into safe mode in an attempt to repair the damage.
This repair can take some time. Are you allowing it
10-20 minutes to finish the task?
If so, and it still won't reboot into regular mode,
then you probably should start the computer from the
Installation Disc by inserting the Disc before
shutdown and then holding down the C key during
    startup.
Don't actually install anything, but use the menu at
the top to run DiskUtility on the hard drive. Tell it
    to "Repair Disk".
Sorry I didn't see this post before I responded to your first one. Yes, this is exactly what is happening. I am not holding down any key to force it into safe mode - it's doing that all by itself. I will try the 10 - 20 minute repair time as you suggested. What will I see happening after this period of time has elapsed? Does it matter if my screen goes into "sleep mode" before the 10-20 minute time is up? And then, if this doesn't work, I'll try your other suggestion using my installation disc.
    Thank you!!!!

How do I stop my iPad from going ding loudly every time a text message comes through? Not a good look in a meeting!

    while True:
and just indent everything else under it
    Ends when you press ^C.
if you wish to have a way to break out of the loop, say, when you press enter at the VPC number without entering anything, add the following after your vpc input:
    if not vpc:
    break
which will break out of the while loop and end your program.
