How do I stop my mouse's middle click button to go back one page in Firefox?

When I click my mouse wheel or middle button on an empty space, it should let me place a scroll the page marker so then I can scroll the page up or down depending on where I move my mouse. It still does that but now it also make me go back one page. I don't have any extension related to it. I am using Logitech M325 mouse and Firefox 30.0.

Why does middle-clicking empty space go back a page?

This problem cropped up around version 5.0 and has persisted. Basically: when I middle click (often accidentally) on an area that doesn't contain a link, Firefox goes ''foreward'' to the previous page viewed in that tab.
What I mean by "foreward" is that it is treated like a link navigation to the previous page even when there is no link to click and using the back button returns me to the page I came from.
It is worth noting that this problem will also cause Firefox to return to pages viewed under "Private Browsing" mode even after returning to normal mode which is, at worst, a security risk.
Is there an option that needs to change for this to stop happening? If there isn't I would like to file a bug.

middlemouse.contentLoadURL = true
clipboard.autocopy = true
Reading the knowledgebase articles, it looks like middlemouse.contentLoadURL is the culprit. I'll turn it off for the moment.

I hate the update of the bar. It has totally done away with being able to skip back several places in the browser; now I can only click the back button and go back one page at a time. I otherwise hate the new layout, too. How do I undo this?

I can't choose a specific page to skip back to but must click the back button over and over to get back to where I want to skip to. The little headings "most visited," "getting started," "Youtube," etc. have changed. They look more colorful, but I hate how the home button is clear over to the right side of the page, etc. What was wrong with the way everything was before? How can I turn off dashboard from middle click on magic mouse?

Whenever I have a gesture set up on my magic mouse to hit middle click, it automatically does the dashboard. This I don't want, and I cannot for the life of me work out how the **** to disable the dashboard from middle click.

I was getting the same problem, I have Jitouch installed, but that really wasn't the issue, it was a setting in the system preferences as sureshk mentioned. It took me a little bit to figure out where the setting is located in case someone else has the same issue.
System Preferences > Expose & Spaces (Snow Leopard & earlier) or Mission Control (Lion & later)
The keyboard and mouse shortcuts are at the bottom. My "Show Dashboard" was set for F12 and Middle Click

In terms of a refund, what does it say on the app's description page in the store (a lot say that refunds aren't given) ? How do you update it? OK, what mouse are you using? Brand, model? Your right click should register as a right click unless that has been overridden by a preference pane. If your Mouse preference pane looks like this, your right click should be the equivalent of a control-left-click on a Mac.

Resume from suspend, mouse left & middle click doesn't work

Does replugging help? Could you post a full dmesg including the attempt to replug (please annotate).

Sometimes, Firefox will go back one page on hitting a left or right arrow key. How do I stop this?

I have noticed that inadvertant hitting of the left or (more often) right arrow key will cause the browser to go back one page in that current tab's history.

How do I stop backspace from going back one page?

I am trying to play Evony but whenever I press backspace it dumps me out of the game and goes back to the logn page.
I have tried adding an extension, but there are no how-to's telling me how tomake it work.
It has taken me 20 mins to post this because every time I try and type in this box the page gets reloaded and corrupted & I have to start again. Safari keeps reloading a help section within the text box then hangs, then crashes.
Ended up typing this in NOTEPAD and pasting it in.
Think I'll use Any Other Broser TBH.

OK, I have found that I cannot use Safari on this website!! I am now using Chrome to be ble to reply here!!
Whenever I use Safari, this txt box gets filled in with a web page telling me something cannot be found, then the browser hangs, then crashes.
Using Chrome, the backspace button does NOT navigate me back one page like it does in Safari.
Add that to the fact that the Safari browser cannot visit the Apple page and you have my answer.
DONT use Safari!!

The reload page button is no longer an option in Safari—it's been integrated into the URL bar itself. For the other buttons, you can right-click (Control-click) on the toolbar, select "Customize Toolbar", and drag the buttons on to any part of the bar.

Couple ways.
one is the delete key and shift delete.
Track pad options see >Sys preferences>Trackpad
Back and forward keys in the browser itself in the upper left. You can customize the toolbar by control clicking in the toolbar to get a drop down menu>customize.
