How do I stop or block caches?

I am now on Mountanin Lion.
I have been able to block cookies by using the Safari preferences to do this.  However I still get hundreds of "Caches" from God only knows what websites that still appear in Safari until I remove them.
I don't trust caches because I think they are cookies in disguise gathering data until I slip up and turn off the cookie blocker.
What are they?  How can I block caches as I do for cookies?  Why isn't there a "caches blocker" as is done with cookies?
Also, the "Do Not Track" website thing doesn't appear to have any effect on either cookies or caches.
Suggestions or edification welcomed.

I have not blocked any file (or done anything).  I just find it odd that Safari allows me to block cookies but it does not allow me to block the hundreds of caches that pop up from hundreds of websites each time I surf the web.
No one can even tell me what information is in these "caches".
Thanks for trying though.

  • How do I stop Firefox blocking my bank log in sites, when I click allow the bank resets to default which then Firefox blocks again.

Every time I try logging into my bank accounts ie Nat West, Lloyds or Barclays I get the Firefox pop up bar saying "Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page" and when I click on allow the bank log in page goes back to their home page, this means I now can't log in to my bank accounts. Can you please tell me how I can allow sites without the blocked pop up occuring.

Un-checking the redirect block is a Global setting. I want to know how to allow redirect for sites I use every day as friendly sites. I do not want it turned of for the entire world wide web. Otherwise, why even have this security setting at all? I've already added my usual sites to my Privacy exception list but that list is ignored by the redirect security warning.

  • How do I stop deleting flash cache storage

Not an urgent matter, but I've looked around the internet and found nothing of a solution on the matter. Where's the flash cache on a Mac and how do I prevent it from being deleted?
I downloaded the game VVVVVV from Steam for Mac, and I've read that as a flash-game it stores its save data in the flash cache, which is prone to being deleted quite frequently to "enhance security" and what not. I don't know if there's a third party application like Adobe that deletes it or if it's a System Preference, but this purging of my flash data has got to go.
Update: When visiting this website http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_man ager03.html it seems I can change the settings of Flash Player, would changing the amount of disk space (under global storage settings) allow VVVVVV to save files to my computer??

Have you tried reporting this issue to the developer of VVVVVV? I believe TerryCavanagh is the developer for VVVVVV. If you go to his website, and lick on the "Email" tab, you should be able to contact him about this issue.
Flash cookies are stored in "~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player". you should be able to get there by:
    go to dock
    click on finder
    go to the menu bar
    click on the go menu
    chose "go to folder"
put in the address "~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player"
    click the go button
if you copy this folder; you should back up all the flash cookies. witch... hopefully will let you keep you flash game saves.
flash has a cache is in:
    ~/Library/Caches/Adobe/Flash Player
If your running the latest version of flash player, it has a control panel. Witch can be found in System Preferences, Flash. the control panel should give you some control over how frequently flash cookies get deleted.

  • How do I stop 10.9 caching servers sharing content with other peers?

We have a problem on a school district network where Mac Servers are sharing their caching content with their registered peers. We have set MaxPeersToQuery to 1 but can't set that value to Zero. We have tried PeerRangeFilters array but that doesn't work either. Apple documentation seems to include a double negative. We have no access to the network, that is controlled by the Local Authority. We just need a Mac Server within a school to only serve the local subnet (The option is ticked) and not query any peers for assets. Any help appreciated.

What was the values you set for PeerRangeFilters?  Based on the documentation, this sounds like it should be able to provide what you are looking for.
But it sounds like you are trying to control two different things here.  It sounds like you want to make clients from each subnet access the subnet's server.  That can be accomplished by using the ListenRange key on each server.  For example, if you have a server on a 172.16.0.0/24 you can define that server to listen only to client requests from that range.  Then your server on 172.16.1.0/24 can be configured to listen on that subnet range.
The second thing you are trying to limit is the sharing across the servers based on peer sharing.  I have not attempted this before but the PeerRangeFilter sounds like the right thing.  Share what you configured.

  • How can I stop Motion 5 caching media?

It's driving me bananas and costing hours of my time - every time I modify a media file I have to change it's name, and switch Motion to use the new file. Otherwise it merrily uses the old version. If I accidentally switch to an earlier name, it digs back and uses that!
There must be a way of stopping this?

When you save your project, in the Save (or Save As) dialog, turn OFF Collect Media [and uncheck Unused Media - I have NO idea why that is on by default!] (and for the project you're currently working, trash the Media folder inside the folder where your project resides -- while Motion is NOT running). Once you have your external media "set" to a final version, I would recommend you turn it back on for a last Save As so that it doesn't become separated/changed or lost if you go back to the project some time in the future — you will at least have a version that goes with your project.

  • How Do I Stop Flash Player From Storing Cache?

    Windows XP SP3
Latest Flash Player (i just upgraded it to the latest as of today)
There are a couple of directories on my HDD that appear to be the place where Flash stores cache.
    One of them is (#1):
    c:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Adobe\Flash Player\AssetCache\
    The other is (#2):
    c:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#sharedobjects
These directories were so bloated with subdirectories that it literally took about 12 HOURS OR MORE to delete everything in them!  I'm not kidding.
There must have been 100,000 subfolders or maybe even more in these folders.  They were choking everything on my computer that had to read past them.
I FINALLY was able to delete everything from them after hours of work.
Now I want to keep them empty, so this doesn't happen again but I can't find out how to do that.  It is so dang frustrating.  I looked and looked for a way to shut this storage off.
I finally found the online "Settings Manager" and thought I FINALLY solved the problem after setting the "Global Storage" setting to "Never" and unchecking the "Allow third party Flash content to be stored on your computer" and "Store common Flash components to reduce download times" boxes.
    BUT NO!!!
It didn't do a thing.  I looked at those two folders again and they are still being filled up with new subfolders!!!!
    UUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
How do I keep Flash Player from storing this unwanted mess on my computer?!
    Thank you for ANY HELP!

    PS:
Before I set the global settings as I stated above, I DELETED all the "Websites already visited" from the list in Settings Manager so that ALL Websites would be set according to the global settings.
But none of that did a thing to stop the new folders from being created anyway.  How do I stop them??!!!

    I'm running Windows XP Version 5.1 SP3.

    Hi,
That is the disk cache of Firefox, where contents of loaded pages are kept for faster retrieval and it also helps to conserve bandwidth. To disable this: '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Options''' > '''Advanced''' > '''Network''', check (tick) '''Override automatic cache management ''' and put the value at zero.

blocked plug ins, how do i stop this?

After installing Flash Player, reboot your Mac and relaunch Safari, then in Safari Preferences/Security enable ‘Allow Plugins’. If you are running 10.6.8 or later:
When you have installed the latest version of Flash, relaunch Safari and test.
If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then in  System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
You can also try these illustrated instructions from C F McBlob to perform a full "clean install", which will resolve the "Blocked Plug-in" message when trying to update via the GUI updater from Adobe.
Use the FULL installer for 12.0.0.44:  Flash Player 12 (Mac OS X)

  • How do I stop about blank pop ups that are caused by Firefox? These are blocked ny my virus protection and ar

Ok my virus protection, I use Kaspersky, is detecting a packer every time I try to load Farmville on Facebook. This results in the game reloading over and over again. These pop up quickly with about blank in the address but nothing else. The path for this leads to Firefox...C:\Users\Toshiba\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\yipb6gme.default\Cache\C\4D\C1121d01. This was the last one shown in the list. It's a Swf2Swc. Today I have 24 at various times with 2 to 3 each time I tried to load Farmville. When my virus protection stopped them Farmville reloaded so I was never able to actually get into it.

Just so you know I did try safe mode with the same results

'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
