How do I stop photos from launching when I plug in camera

Can't find anything in the preferences that will stop this new app from launching when I plug in cameras or phones.

Plug in and let it load, then click on the camera/phone on the left hand pane and uncheck the box:
You should also be able to do this via Image Capture (in the Applications Folder) but I haven't tested it specifically.

  • Stop Photos from Launching when Iphone plugged it

I would like to stop the Photos application from launching every time I plug my iPhone into my computer.  There was a way to do it with iPhoto but I cannot seem to find a way with this new Photo app.  Has anyone figured it out or have I missed finding the instruction somewhere?
    Thanks

With your iPhone connected, let Photos launch one more time.
Enter the key combination ⌥⌘S to reveal the sidebar.
In the sidebar select your iPhone.
Disable the checkmark "Open Photos for this device":
    Then quit Photos.
Do the same in Image Capture, if necessary.
    In Image Capture:
The option has to be set for each device individually. With the device connected to USB, you have to click the tiny disclosure triangle in the lower left corner of the sidebar to reveal the option.

How do I stop Iphoto from opening when I plug in my Iphone?

Having the preference in iPhoto makes perfect sense to me.  After all, iPhoto is the application that opens.  You would expect that is where you should provide some guidance not to open.
What puzzles me much more is why you would post this comment more than 18 months after wjosten answered the original question.

  • How can I stop iTunes from launching when I hit the button on my head phones

On my MBP I have some head phones that have an inline mic with call answer button. The button on the head phones is fairly sensitive and I tend to bump it on accident often. When I hit the button iTunes is launched or if I have it open it starts music.
Is there anyway to stop this from happening? This is driving me crazy!

This problem has been an issue for a number of months and has led to frustration and public humiliation on countless occasions.
When disconnecting from my Bose Soundlink at home (playing nothing) in order to taking my laptop on the run I open my laptop to find that the entire contents of my iTunes playlist is being belted in public. The subway, the library, my classroom is not the time or place for my laptop to make the decision to begin playing my music without permission. When at home and my Soundlink goes on standby I have nearly had a heart attack when my laptop spontaneously begins blaring my music when I wasn't even touching the thing.
I love my Soundlink and I love my Mac but together the devices are causing no end of aggravation with no fix in sight. With each OS update I hope the problem is addressed but to no avail, it is getting tiresome that such a flaw isn't being fixed in a timely manner.

  • How do I stop Photoshop from launching when I turn on my MacBook Pro?

I subscribe to Adobe CC. Every time I turn on my MacBook Pro, Photoshop CC launches. I want this to stop. When I right click on the Photoshop app > Options > Open at Login is NOT checked. And in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items >  Photoshop is not there. What can I do? I am sure it is a simple fix. Thanks!

As I mentioned when I right click on the Photoshop app in the dock > Options > Open at Login is NOT checked. And in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items >  Photoshop is not there in the list. I do not have any utilities installed that automatically launch applications and I do not mess with scripts or even know how to.
I tried calling Adobe's poor outsourced customer service and was told there was a 2-5 minute wait, but after waiting 22 minutes, I had to hang up.

  • How can I stop iTunes from launching when I disconnect my Bluetooth device?

This has only become a problem recently. Whenever I disconnect -- not connect, disconnect -- my Bluetooth Bose SoundLink Mini speaker from my MacBook Pro iTunes will auto-launch. I am current with Mavericks and iTunes updates. There must be a configuration switch that can be tweaked to prevent this from occurring.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there anyone who is a MacBook Pro "expert" who understands what the interactions are between the Bluetooth driver and app software and iTunes, and can speak with authority on what might be going on here?

  • How do I keep itunes from launching when I plug in my headphones

I have a set of Bose headphones with an inline mic/remote and there are times that I plug it into my Air Itunes with keep trying to launch and play music. I can close itunes and it will relaucnh. The only way to stop it is to disconnect the headphoes. I use these headphonoes on my ipad and iphone with no issue.
Any advice on how to stop this?
    Thank you,
    Justin

Normally, iTunes would only launch if you push the start/stop button of the remote.
Means, that if iTunes launches (and keeps re-launching) as soon as you connect the headphone, there's something wrong with the headphone jack in your Mac.
It can be as simple as requiring cleaning:
With the Mac shut down, try to blow the headphone jack out, e.g. with compressed air - you can get that in cans.
Do not use liquids! The one thing you may c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y do is using a cotton bud (Q-tip) and as little as possible isopropyl alcohol on it to clean it from sticky stuff. Repeat a few times, let it dry well before turning the Mac back on.

  • Stop Photos from Launching

How do I stop Photos from launching when I connect a drive with pictures?
There use to be a setting to Launch or not Launch iPhoto. Have not been able to find it since Mavericks upgrade. I don't use Photos much as I edit in Photoshop and save to different folders. I don't want to delete it either. I currently insert drive, wait for Photos to open then have to quit Photos. I can continue to do that, but it would be nice if it didn't open in the first place. Thank you

You can disable this in Image Capture (in the Applications Folder). Connect the Drive and then you'll be able to chose to open nothing at all or whatever app you prefer.

The same way one starts it -- Launch Image Capture, open the application's Preferences (from the Image Capture menu) and change the settings associated with connecting your camera.

How do I stop Iphoto from launching itself every time I use my laptop?

    Some possibilities:
Right click on the iPhoto icon in the Dock. Is Open at Log In Selected?
Check your System Preferences -> Accounts -> Log In Items
Is there a camera or anything that your Mac might think is a camera (flash drive, USB Hard Disk formatted to a FAT format, phone) attached to your Mac. If so, disconnect it. If you don't want to disconnect it, set iPhoto to "Do Nothing" when a camera is attached. You do this in the iPhoto Preferences.
