How do I stop receiving iMessages across all devices?

I have multiple apple devices setup to receive iMessages, but I have changed my main phone from iPhone to another phone and would like to stop receiving iMessages from my contacts. How do I disable iMessages from being sent by all of my contacts?

Settings>Messages. Turn it off. On every iDevice and Mac you have.

I am trying to link my phone mobile number and my apple ID to the same imessage account, so I can text across multiple devices.

In addition to Amy's comment, set the Caller ID on your phone to the same email address that is associated with your apple ID (and which should be used on iMessage on your other devices).  This way the messages will stay synced across all devices.

  • My iPod touch is struggling to receive iMessages from all devices.

My iPod touch cannot receive iMessages from one of our iPhones. It works from 2 others any ideas? The iPhone sends it directly as mms when started as new message.

Each device is set to receive at its own address. When I try to send iMessage to one iPod touch it works fine but to the other it says iMessage unavailable. When our other iPhone sends it to either iPod touch it works perfectly. My phone will not allow me start a new iMessage to either touch. They start as MMS. One device will allow me to reply to an iMessage with an iMessage but not the other one.

Ever since I updated my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 to IOS 6 all my iMessages are coming to both my iPhone and my IPad. How do I stop the iMessages I send and receive on my phone from receiving on my iPad as well? I have tried going into my settings and making sure I'm only set up to receive iMessages to my cell number and not my email....but that didn't fix the problem.

Here the way to do it, for both, or for only one Go into your settings, Messages and turn on iMessage. It will then send messages that are iMessages to both your iPad and iPhone. You can also turn off this feature on the iPad if you do not want to receive messages on the iPad.

  • How to sync iMessage across all iOS devices?

How do I sync iMessage across all iOS devices?

Simple solution to imessage not syncing....
I did it and I hope this solves your problems too!! My wife's devices would NOT sync imessages the way we think iMessage should sync intuitively. I figured it out and it's now working perfect from what I can tell.
Go to https://appleid.apple.com and make sure under phone numbers you have your cell phone number filled out! I deleted prior threads before testing (not sure if that was necessary) but now it's working like a charm. (might take a second to ping the phone number to the imessage server)

  • IPad 2 stopped receiving iMessages sent to my phone number

I have an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4S. When I got the iPad, I was able to sync it with my iPhone just fine. It was sending and receiving iMessages that were directed to my iPhone phone number, and the messages on the two devices were syncing perfectly, all the time.
Then about a week ago, my iPad stopped receiving iMessages that were sent to my iPhone. When I look at the iMessage settings on the iPad, my phone number is no longer listed under the "send and receive" area.
The only troubleshooting I have tried so far is turning iMessage off and then back on on the iPad, and rebooting it. That hasn't worked...any other suggestions?

I would sign out of iMessage on your iPad and make sure its signed back in with the same apple id that you are using on your iPhone, if still does not show on iPad try doing the same steps on the iPhone. Hi iprover,
Let me first say that I am NO EXPERT with anything Apple and really have only started looking into this iCloud stuff a few hours ago because I'm trying to help my mom free up some space on her iCloud. But anyway, here's what I'm learning and what I THINK might be happening to you.
Also, if any Apple support people (do they browse the forums to dish out helpful hints?) or people who probably know infinitely more than me about this stuff, please do chime in and confirm / correct my statements!
    This is what I gather.
iCloud for Windows is set up with a local folder (let's call it "C:\Users\Administrator\Pictures\iCloud Photos\My Photo Stream") where iCloud will store photos uploaded to the Photo Stream. This will allow you to view your Photo Stream photos on your PC.
This does not mean that this is a PC backup of your Photo Stream photos, but just a way to view your Photo Stream from your PC. That being said, the general Photo Stream rules apply: 1. No videos are on the photo-stream, and 2. Photos on the Photo Stream will be removed after ~30 days and/or after hitting the Photo Stream limit of 1000 photos.
My guess is that the iCloud Windows App will delete photos from the local folder that are older than ~30 days and/or delete all but the most recent 1000 items if the 1000-item limit is reached.
That is a scary thought! I really hope you did not lose all your pictures, but my guess is that the iCloud local folder is NOT meant for backup but instead is the iCloud Windows App's sandbox for updating and managing Photo Stream photos.
All that being said, I'd say it's important to back up your photos in a separate folder not related to the iCloud local folder.
