How do I stop the "attempted to access these secure websites" popup with parental controls enabled?

This makes parental controls almost unusable.  Nearly every website tries to access numerous other domains that are not in my whitelist.  Is there any way to just stop all prompts to add items to the whitelist?  It could remain static and just block everything and I'd be happy (kind of thought that was the purpose of parental controls and whitelisting to begin with).  Young kids have no idea what to do with these windows popping up.
Thanks!

I imagine it would prompt for an admin account and then if I authenticated it would be added to the white list and that specific site would then receive requests (e.g. not prompt again); however...
a) that would only stop prompting for that specific site and this issue would recur with each request to a new domain that occurs down the line
b) the point of parental controls is that I want to allow my child relatively unsupervised access to the system, that would require I be in the vicinity to authenticate and add each new request
c) there are likely domains that I would NOT want whitelisted just due to some background request (ad networks, large domains that may otherwise serve up inappropriate content, etc...).
I think I get where you are coming from (and not trying to shoot the messenger here) I just think that teaching them to agree to the message would not be a good solution.  This seems to be a pretty big gap in Apple's implementation and apparantly can only be addressed by them.
Thank you!

  • Webprocess attempted to access these secure websites:

We just updtated to Lion. When my children who have parental controled user profiles attempt to visit public websites, several options, not included in thier search come up, for example, https://platform.twiter.com; or https://ssl.gstatic.com; a parent controle password is requested to access them even though they have nothing to do with thier intitial search. Why is this happening every time? What does it mean, what is the fix.

  • "Safari attempted to access a secure website..." after 10.8.2

I upgraded to 10.8.2 this afternoon and now my son's parental controled account is broken. Whenever he tries to access a web page via Safari (or Chrome) he gets a message stating "Safari attempted to access a secure website..." I haven't changed anything on his account - it worked fine before the upgrade, so I assume 10.8.2 caused the problem.
I do have Parental Controls on his account, but web browsing is set to Unlimitied Access.
    Please Help!

Still experimenting, but I think I may have solved the problem. Try this:
Log out of the account with Parental Controls enabled.
Log into an account with administrative priveleges
Go to System Preferences | Parental Controls
Click the padlock and authenticate with the administrator's credentials
Click on the account with the Parental Controls enabled
Turn off Parental Controls for that account
Log out of the administrative account
Log in to the account that had Parental Controls enabled
Try browsing to see if any error messages appear (none should)
    Log out of the account
Log back into the account with administrative priveleges
Follow the same process as earlier to find the account that should have Parental Controls enabled and enable restrictions accordingly; ensure under the Web tab that "Allow unrestricted access to websites" is enabled (if that's the setting you wish the account to have... which in my case, it is)
Log out of the administrative account
Log in to the account that has Parental Controls enabled
Try browsing to see if any error messages appear (none should)
This has worked for me on one of the six workstations I'm administering. I'll have the opportunity to test the remaining 5 in a few minutes.

  • Adobe Reader 11  - How do I stop the "To help protect your security" in IE8

I am trying to find a way to automatically open PDF from links inside IE8 without having to allow the download for each PDF.  If I add a site to Trusted Zone this does not pose an issue, this is however not a viable option as we have 17000 PCs and who knows how many websites that use PDFs.  What option do I have to change so all PDFs will open from IE8 without first allowing the blocked download?

Pat you are correct as I am able to Enable Automatic prompting for file download in the Internet security Zone of IE and then this will automatically prompt for the file download.  I am trying to determine if there is a way to have all PDFs open automatically without lowering security for all downloads.  On my personal device a PDF from a site will open in browser without either of these prompts.  I do have IE9 on my PC however the other PCs are still stuck on IE8.  In my troubleshooting I did notice that the Active X for Adobe PDF Reader is listed under the Run without Permission, but is not in the All add-ons section.  This just seemed odd to me.

  • Disable the popup stating parental controls blocked the following sites

ON OS X 10.9 with parental controls enabled when a site is blocked Firefox throws up a popup stating what sites were blocked. I would like to stop this from happening, as in our environment we bloc Facebook, twitter, and other sites, so when I go to CNN firefox pops up saying a bunch of sites have been blocked and to try allow them. This popup is awful and needs to be removed...

    I haven't used this feature...
Is there an add-on in Firefox that you can configure? You can check on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Command+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions.
''If there is an extension related to this function:'' check for an Options button to see whether you can set it to silent operation.
Next, in the left column, click Plugins.
''If there is a plugin related to this function:'' you could try setting it to "Never Activate" although this might completely disable the feature... Usually configuration for a plugin is done externally to Firefox.
If there are no add-ons related to this feature, check whether you can modify the behavior in the parental control software itself.

  • TS3276 How do I stop the mail program from attempting to send an email with a probably corrupt address?

My "Postmaster" keeps attempting to send an email with one or two corrupt email addresses, or non existent address and I do not know which one it is.  How do I stop it attempting further deliveries?

I don't know for sure this is what will work, but set up separate SMTP servers for each Gmail account, using your specific logins for each.
On the Account page in Preferences, Account Information, select Edit SMTP Server List from the Outgoing mail Server (smtp) popup menu.
Copy the current one for Gmail and edit it to use the necessary login information.
For each account, select the desired smtp server and set the checkbox to only use that server.
When you reply or compose a new message, make sure From indicates the correct account.

  • How do I stop the Finder from seeing SMB (Windows) shares on the network?

I have the OPPOSITE problem most people have -- Windows Sharing works TOO WELL.
I've donated a refurbished eMac to the local homeless shelter. I figured I'd made the system secure, and prevented any monkey business. Turns out the windows machines on the network are COMPLETELY insecure (guest access to everything is enabled). The problem is that the Mac is TOO friendly -- it automatically connects to the server as a guest, and happily presents everything to the user.
I've tried a dozen different things (I've removed the 'Shared' section from the sidebar in the Finder windows (Go->Network is still there, Doh.), tried to turn off File Sharing, and even disabled the mount_smbfs command in the /sbin directory with "chmod 0 mount_smbfs".)
I've asked the folks there to call in a PC tech and fix their security problem -- but it's a good question to which I've found no suitable answer... How to I stop the Mac from connecting to SMB Shares on the local network?
    Thanks.
    -JD.

Same problem, keep getting a pop up with connection failed you do not have permission to access the server. The server is a windows 7 box, Starting happening after an up grade to windows 7. Nowhere can I find how to stop trying to connect. I am sure its at the unix level of samba but what to do is another question

  • How can I stop the execution on a JSP page and start it again

    Hi
I am making a program that simulates how to manage transactions when accessing a database by using locks. I have run into a problem and I hope someone has the time to help me.
When a user does an update the transaction commits and releases its locks when the program executes
    <%stmt.executeUpdate("commit!"); %>
I need to put a break in to stop the program executing this statement, to illustrate the lock is set correctly.
I have tried to put in an alert box but this does not prevent the rest of the java code being executed.
I have tried to use prompt boxes, JavaScript functions, but these functions cannot have any java code in them.
I have tried using the java.swing JOptionPane boxes but this didn?t work either
I have tried to get input from the user but I don?t know how to retrieve this data on the same page. (As far as I know you have to use submit and even refresh the page or retrieve it on the next page).
Does anyone know how I can stop the execution on a JSP page and start it again (on same page)
    Mette

I already have another client (Tomcat jsp application) running and it throws a SQLException correctly when I dont put in a commit=true statement and don't close the database connection.
But the problem is how to get the code above to stop to illustrate I have set this lock.
I have tried to use the JOptionPane but because my program is running in a web browser I cannot use the JOptionPane dialog box.
I have tired using an alert box but it executes the commit statement before the alert box is dispayed. So this does not work
    While (i < 2)
    if( i==1)
%>alert(The transactions commits when you press Ok); <% //what it to stop execution here
    else
    stmt.executeUpdate(commit);
I am not using threads so I cannot use the sleep function.
I am using mysql and have already configured it to detect deadlocks and how long to wait for locks.
    Thanks for your help

If you don't have an icloud account, then icloud is not the thing that's popping up a window.
If you are being asked to enter a password when accessing itunes, then the problem may be that you have purchased items (apps, songs, etc) on the device that were purchased using a different itunes account than the one you currently have defined on your device.
Purchased items are forever associated with the itunes account (the apple ID) that was used to make the purchase.  If you change the ID on the device, you won't be able to update any of them.  You'll have to purchase them again.

  • How can I stop the install process?

How can I stop the install process? It tells me my disk is damaged and to restart and repair, but when I restart it tries to install again....it's a never ending cycle. I'd rather keep the system I have than continue this mess.

    Hello Serau1s,
It sounds like you are installing Mavericks, and are being prompted to restart and repair your hard drive, but when the computer restarts it goes back to the installation process. The following article should help you get that disk repaired by getting you to the recovery partition, named:
Disk Utility 12.x: Repair a disk
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH5836
Print this help page so you can refer to it later. (You don’t have access to Disk Utility Help when you restart up your computer in the next step.)In the Disk Utility Help window, choose Print from the Action pop-up menu (looks like a gear).
Choose Apple menu > Restart. Hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys as your computer restarts. When you see a white screen with an Apple logo in the middle, you can release the keys.
Click Disk Utility, and then click Continue.
In the list at the left, select the item you want to repair. (Be sure to select an item that’s indented to the right in the list, not an item at the far left.)
    Click First Aid.
If Disk Utility tells you the disk is about to fail, back it up and replace it. You can’t repair it.
Click Repair Disk.If Disk Utility reports that the disk appears to be OK or has been repaired, you’re done. Otherwise, you may need to do one of the following steps.
If Disk Utility reports “overlapped extent allocation” errors, two or more files occupy the same space on your disk, and at least one of them is likely to be corrupted. Check each file in the list of affected files. If you can replace a file or recreate it, delete it. If it contains information you need, open it and examine its data to make sure it hasn’t been corrupted. (Most of the files in the list have aliases in a DamagedFiles folder at the top level of your disk.)
If Disk Utility can’t repair your disk or it reports “The underlying task reported failure,” try to repair the disk or partition again. If that doesn’t work, back up as much of your data as possible, reformat the disk, reinstall Mac OS X, and then restore your backed-up data.If you continue to have problems with your disk, it may be physically damaged and need to be replaced.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling
