  • I have two iPads, one for my child and mine.  They both use the same user Id so I can control purchases.  How do I stop the App Store content going to both iPads?

I have two iPads under the one user ID.  Mine and my 4 year olds.  When making purchases for the App Store, the purchase goes to both IPads.  How do I stop content going to both?
    Any help would be great.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You have to disable Automatic Downloads on the iPad where you don't want to get the purchases. Open Settings > iTunes & App Stores, and disable Automatic Downloads for Apps, Music and/or Books. Read > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4539

  • How do i stop the app store from prompting me to update Pages?

I don't want to update to the new version of Pages until they make the Maverick version as fullscale as 4.3.
Call me  cranky, but I find the incessant update notifications  annoying.
    Thanks in advance

You can hide certain updates by ctrl-clicking them in the Updates list in App Store, Updates tab. It will show a contextual menu with one item, Hide update.
Hopefully, the forum page has let you know that I'm trying to do this on a Mavericks iMac, since it asked me to designate all that stuff.
I understand that from the forum and your profile, but that has nothing to do with my reply.
As you can see here, I have both 5.2 and 4.3.
    Also, see here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6049
    From that article:
In the meanwhile, you can continue to use these features by accessing the previous versions of the iWork applications which remain installed on your Mac. The previous versions can be found in Applications > iWork ’09.
This article indicates you must enable the Debug menu in App Store to hide apps, but I have never had to do that. However, I don't have any pending updates to test: http://nicolamonaca.wordpress.com/2014/01/22/how-to-hide-a-software-update-in-th e-mac-app-store/

  • The computer i normaly sync my ipad on has broken. how do i now sync/update on my new computer without losing my apps, music etc?

The harddrive on my old laptop which my ipad was originally set up on literaly melted so i no longer have access to that.
I bought a new laptop and I need to know how to set my ipad up and update it on this one without losing any apps/music etc??

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use your back up copy to put everything on the new computer.

  • HT2404 How can I stop the Software Update madness??

I recently bought an Epson printer to replace my broken HP printer.  I uninstalled all the HP-related software, but I still am getting prodded by Software Update to update software I no longer have!  How can I stop the Software Update madness??

There are literally thousands of sites with videos (linked to from yet thousands more) that will prompt you to "upgrade" or update your already updated Flash Player. This is the most common method of delivery for malware like that.
A friend who runs a PC Repair business told me that if you've updated your Flash Player and you see a warning in a web page that you need to download an update to watch a video, it's an attack site.
A simple gesture of holding your mouse over the warning or link, will indicate the address it points to. If it DOESN'T say Adobe anywhere in the beginning of the address (download.adobe.com, or adobe.com/downloads), it's a forgery, and you should leave that page immedaitely. If you download and install whatever they link you to, it may play the content you were looking for, but you've just been infected with something that may lay dormant for months and then suddenly take over your whole system.
If you use your PC for work, you're really in trouble.

  • How do i stop the iOS 6.1 update?

Everytime I connect to my WiFi and my computer at home or anywhere else my iPod starts downloading the new iOS 6.1 update.I don't want to update because i'm waiting for iOS 6.1.1 update. How do i stop the update?

Theres a few answers i found that could possibly work (im not sure which one actually will because i dont care if mine updates).  I also posted the link i found them at incase you want to go on that thread and just read through everything incase i missed something but i dont think that i did.

"What I did is I did a force shut off of the iTouch by holding the home button and the sleep button at the top for 5 seconds and when I turned it back on it didn't go into the update automatically."
"I had the same problem; clicked Download and Install for iOs6 and after that realised that I wanted to keep the old iOs for testing purposes. I disabled the wifi, backed the iPhone up via iTunes and after that restored that backup (just the data, not a reinstall). This fixed it for me, the software update screen is now back to the "Download and Install" button."
This one is long but it looks like it could work.
"The stupid iOS 6 update that nobody wants needs a certain amount of free space in order to download & install.  I had started the download & disabled WiFi like you did, so the download was paused.  While it was paused, I set my video camera to record & it sat there & recorded for like 2.5 hours (ugh) before it finally took up all the space on my phone.  Then, I went back in & enabled WiFi & checked the piece of junk iOS 6 install & it now said it couldn't download b/c there wasn't enough space.
I figured this solution still s ucks b/c now I can't download any apps or take any more pics or vids.  About 30 minutes later, though, I went back to the horrible iOS 6 download & a message popped up saying there wasn't enough space.  When I hit "OK" or whatever to clear the message, the screen had reset & gone back to the "download & install" button.  FINALLY I was able to stop the download & installation of iOS 6.  THANK GOD.  I want nothing to do with it, and there is NO WAY Apple is taking my Google Maps or YouTube."
    I hope that helps!

  • How do I stop the update...it's already started?

How do I stop the update...it's already started? I tried turning the phone off and when I turn it back on its in the process of downloading.  With all the problems being posted I want to wait on updating!  It's an iPhone 5 on Verizon network.  I've got 25 min remaining on the download! Hurry!

It actually installed by itself, I did not tap install.  However, it works great on my iphone 5 and I really like it. Glad it updated and works fine!!

  • I'm not able to download the App Store with a software update. How can I get the App Store on my Mac?

I have some problems to get the App Store on my mac. Every time when I do a Software Update, there is no App Store to download.
How can I get the App Store on my Mac?
It's because I want to set OSX Lion on my MacbookPro.
    Thanks!
    SmettSky

As you have 10.5.8 you need to upgrade to at least 10.6.6 to get the App Store as this was the 1st version it came with.
A workaround is to get a friend who has 10.6.6 or better to download Lion for you without installing it. You can create an App Store account on the friend's computer I think to do this. Copy the Lion installer from that computer to a USB stick or burn it to DVD and you should be able to install it on your own computer, I think. You might have to create an empty partition on your own computer first for Lion installation as I'm not sure that it will install over Leopard.

Ever since I updated my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 to IOS 6 all my iMessages are coming to both my iPhone and my IPad. How do I stop the iMessages I send and receive on my phone from receiving on my iPad as well? I have tried going into my settings and making sure I'm only set up to receive iMessages to my cell number and not my email....but that didn't fix the problem.

Here the way to do it, for both, or for only one Go into your settings, Messages and turn on iMessage. It will then send messages that are iMessages to both your iPad and iPhone. You can also turn off this feature on the iPad if you do not want to receive messages on the iPad.

  • I started to download Maverick but then read that Word and Excel do not work  with Maverick.  I hit pause on the download. How do I stop the download.  In non technical terms please!

How do I stop the download of Maverick on my MacBookPro?  I started downloading then discovered that 2008 Word and Excel do not work  with Maverick. I have too many files in the 2008 version to upgrade them at this time.  I just need instructions in non technical terms to stop the Maverick download.

I did the same as Tapmr and have paused the "upgrade".  So am I to understand that the upgrade only downloads and will not automatically install it?  I am an extreme novice here, and cannot afford any issues after I upgrade/download.  I don't know how to make a clone copy as you suggested either.
I need assurance that if the upgrade is allowed to continue that I will be able to delete the upgrade downloaded and continue on as before with my regular system.
