How do I stop the MacKeeper and other fake Mac software adverts from appearing on my cpmouter everytime I'm on the internet?

There are a few things I know of that you can do to prevent pop-ups and ads from showing up in Safari and Firefox:
Safari:
-(1) Open up Safari. In the toolbar at the top of the screen, click Safari and make sure Block Pop-Up Windows is checked.
-(2) Try installing the AdBlock extension for Safari. And configure it by clicking on Safari, Preferences..., Extensions, AdBlock. You can install AdBlock for Safari here or here.
Firefox:
-(1) Open up Firefox. In the toolbar at the top of the screen, click Firefox, Preferences, Content, and make sure Block pop-up windows is checked.
-(2) Install the AdBlock add-on for Safari from here. Restart Firefox. To enable it (I think), go to Tools, Add-ons, Extensions.
I hope these tips will help you stop recieving pop-ups. I personally think the "Block pop-up windows" setting in Firefox works the best.

I know what apps I want to have cellular data and which one's I do not! Stop the pop-up. Or lose me to another brand of phone. Period.

Unfortunately, you can only download a trial version once, no matter whether you used it much, little, or not at all. It only puts the application at your disposal with no tracing of your possible use.
Back in January or thereabouts, a fresh start was made so you could download a second trial, but no trial since then is repeatable.

I have the OPPOSITE problem most people have -- Windows Sharing works TOO WELL.
I've donated a refurbished eMac to the local homeless shelter. I figured I'd made the system secure, and prevented any monkey business. Turns out the windows machines on the network are COMPLETELY insecure (guest access to everything is enabled). The problem is that the Mac is TOO friendly -- it automatically connects to the server as a guest, and happily presents everything to the user.
I've tried a dozen different things (I've removed the 'Shared' section from the sidebar in the Finder windows (Go->Network is still there, Doh.), tried to turn off File Sharing, and even disabled the mount_smbfs command in the /sbin directory with "chmod 0 mount_smbfs".)
I've asked the folks there to call in a PC tech and fix their security problem -- but it's a good question to which I've found no suitable answer... How to I stop the Mac from connecting to SMB Shares on the local network?

Same problem, keep getting a pop up with connection failed you do not have permission to access the server. The server is a windows 7 box, Starting happening after an up grade to windows 7. Nowhere can I find how to stop trying to connect. I am sure its at the unix level of samba but what to do is another question

If you are printing via a Windows shared printer and it is the Windows user account that you are being prompted for then you can save this in the Keychain, as shown below.

How do I stop the spinning ball that keeps going and going and going. I think I have to remove cookies, but I don't know how.

I think I solved it.
I searched my extensions folder (in my profile) for all image files (PNG and JPG), and found the pop-up images to be in an extension folder related to Firefox Sync (not an external extension, actually). But even though I had already disabled it and un-linked this computer from Firefox Sync, the message still popped-up.
I think the image filename was SYNC.PNG, or something like that. Close Firefox, find the folder where that image is in, and rename the main folder (the one right under the extensions folder) to some other name (such as "original name_copy"). Then start Firefox. Check if it works OK and if the pop-up ceases to appear. If everything OK, then you can delete that folder.
If something goes wrong, just rename the folder to what it was before.
