OK, silly question, but I just got an iPhone yesterday, and started downloading iTunes today. Is there a stop button on this thing?

Just use the pause button. It acts as a stop button.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPhone shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.

When the iPod is off or still in lock screen you can double click home, then hit pause. While playing a game or something you can double click, swipe to the right side and hit pause....

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js [3] files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Is it a "feature" of the new model that the pause is a limited pause?
No. Try resetting the iPod to see if that helps. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If you are still having issues, do a full restore of the iPod in iTunes.

What happens if you reset the Nano? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Volume down buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. Start playing another track, and then pull the headphones out? Any change?
I am going to try this out with my 6G Nano later on to see if this functionality does indeed exist on this model. Or perhaps somebody who comes along to this thread can offer an answer.

You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you may be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download however they are not under any obligation to do so. The policy on lost songs is that you have to pay to download them again:

Hi Diavonex. Yes I was aware of this option.
Subsequently I have done a litle research and downloaded a music app called "Track 8" which has a much clearer interface (larger type) and the abillity to change the background colour to dark or light.
This is much more readable in the car in bright light, and much better at night too.
You can also turn off auto-lock within the application, which is great, as it doesn't affect other apps.
Although this app is really only an interface sitting on top of the music app, it offers a much better experience
in my opinion that the stock player which seems to have devolved rather than evolved.

I have asked this over and over all over the internet and no one has an answer. I enjoy my music for a while but when it is time to STOP THE MUSIC I have found but one way - Turn off or power down the device. This is so annoying I have stopped playing and stopped purchasing any and all music of any type. If I can not find a way to do so I will remove all music from my devices until I may hear of how to STOP THE MUSIC. I have seen it is done on Android devices but no Apple devices. Wwell, maybe it is just me. I have been using and have bought 7 Apple devices just over the past 3-5 years. Having supported, programmed, configured and taught college level courses for MS based and super computer hardware and software configurations for almost 20 years I am apparently ignorant of differential operations. Previously I had 5 choices on any hardware or software when playing anything like music, video, DVDs or anything similar. I had 'Play' 'Fast Forward' 'Fast Rewind' 'Pause' a n d 'STOP'. Perhaps Apple has found the STOP unnecessary but I thoro enjoyed knowing whatever I was playing had STOPped and could not continue unless I chose to go back to the program or equipment and chose any of the 5 choices except STOP again since I could not STOP a STOP. As I said perhaps I need to reconsider my choices and obvious ignorance. Thanks for all the help.
