Every time a access a website which has embedded googledoubleclick ads in it, i get this pop up-like thing which tells me to download a javascript file called "ads", from http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net and it asks me to save it... i would love to send a screenshot, but this question text area doesn't allow me...
therefore, i have uploaded the snapshot .jpeg file on my website so you can see it. This has been bothering me a lot, sometimes there are pages which have embedded 5 ads, and i get a pop up for each ad. Mind you, it's not the window popup that you get, it's a download popup...

If you don't have an icloud account, then icloud is not the thing that's popping up a window.
If you are being asked to enter a password when accessing itunes, then the problem may be that you have purchased items (apps, songs, etc) on the device that were purchased using a different itunes account than the one you currently have defined on your device.
Purchased items are forever associated with the itunes account (the apple ID) that was used to make the purchase. If you change the ID on the device, you won't be able to update any of them. You'll have to purchase them again.

I use DownThemAll as my download manager for files generally over 10MB, as my internet connection is generally too slow for firefox to download a file larger then this without firefox "finishing" a download before it's complete, corrupting the file. This never happens with DownThemAll.
For some sites, either there is no download link to right click or it starts automatically, launching the download prompt. Firefox's internal download manager automatically starts downloading the file (not visibly, but in the background) before I can choose to use DownThemAll from the prompt instead.
This wastes bandwidth. Even worse, some hosting sites have randomly generated download gates for each session that expire after disconnection or limit you to a single download in a given time frame. This means that I effectively can't use DownThemAll on certain websites because firefox's own download manager steps in and gets in the way.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

iMac Computer crashed couple of weeks ago. Got it back with a new hard drive. I had Lion but this problem is happening with it AND when I upgraded to Mountain Lion.
The minute you drop something into the trash it cleans out and empties the trash. I can't find where to turn that off so that files will stay there for at least a week or two.

The procedure below will reset the permissions of a home folder in OS X 10.7.4 or later. If you're running an earlier version of 10.7, update to the latest version first. This procedure should not be used in OS X versions older than 10.7.4.
Back up all data before you begin.

Click the Finder icon in the Dock. A Finder window will open.

How do I stop the "open book" animation

I see the cover of my book in the bookshelf. When I choose the book, it does the standard fly over and opens the book to the first page. I plan to put some nice cover art on my book, so I don't want the book to open but instead fill the screen with the cover and then the user needs to turn the page when he's ready. You know, kinda like a real book. Is this possible?

You can't defeat the default loading animation, sorry.
You might want to also use/duplicate the cover as a (background?) image at the beginning of the book contents, chapter first page, etc.
I'd suggest working with the standard navigation, tho Not like a real book...take advantage of the platform and make it work for you, that sort of thing.

I think that the HREF and AUTOHREF attributes here are unnecessary, as they should only come into play if I want people to click on the movie to open it in another window or have the movie load on a page by itself, neither of which is NOT what I want. What I want is for the page to load exactly as it is, except instead of loading the QT movie automatically, to wait to load it unless someone clicks the play button on the controls. I want it to act this way for 2 reasons: first so page viewers don't have to wait for the loading time to see the pages, and second to stop using up my bandwidth for people who don't care to see the movies anyway.
How do I do this? It's not apparent to me from reading the page referenced above that lists the possible QT parameters. The rest of the parameters seem to be working as described: it is not autoplaying; the controller is showing; it is not looping; the aspect is correct; if the movie exists in the cache it will load from there.
The website is www.ssi-online.org, and I'm trying to do this with both videos in the right sidebar, which occurs on every page throughout the site.

Any tag that includes "false" can be left out of the code.
The file will always download.
If you don't want the source file to download then you would set the HREF value to your true source movie and the "src" tag to another QuickTime file.
You would then need to include a "target" ("_blank", "_myself", or "quicktimeplayer". Blank would be a new window, myself would be the same window and quicktimeplayer would launch the QuickTime Player app instead of the browser plug-in.

In a recent post it was suggested that I do not let Aperture automatically generate the previews to all imported files. I think that is a great idea, but how do I stop the auto generation of such files?
Under Preferences/Previews I have unchecked the New projects automatically generate previews, but after I do the import the processing wheel continues to spin for quite some time (depending on how many files I imported).
