How do I stop the spinning ball that keeps going and going and going

How do I stop the spinning ball that keeps going and going and going.  I think I have to remove cookies, but I don't know how.

I think I solved it.
I searched my extensions folder (in my profile) for all image files (PNG and JPG), and found the pop-up images to be in an extension folder related to Firefox Sync (not an external extension, actually). But even though I had already disabled it and un-linked this computer from Firefox Sync, the message still popped-up.
I think the image filename was SYNC.PNG, or something like that. Close Firefox, find the folder where that image is in, and rename the main folder (the one right under the extensions folder) to some other name (such as "original name_copy"). Then start Firefox. Check if it works OK and if the pop-up ceases to appear. If everything OK, then you can delete that folder.
If something goes wrong, just rename the folder to what it was before.

    How do I stop the spinning ball? It has just begun in the last couple of days. Very annoying. Must wait 10-20 seconds to access an Internet site or information into a Google site. It even stopped me in the midst of typing this message.

    How do I stop the spinning wheel that replaced the cursor in a Word document?

    Something is causing Word to lock up.  Restart the laptop and/or reinstall Office/Word to fix the instability.  Maybe even a bad plugin or document could be causing this if it's only happening when you open a particular doc.

    How to stop the spinning ball/pizza that is stalling repairs to project on imovie 09? on macosx10.5.8 using iomega and superspeed ext h.d. as storage for the events and projects archive of a wedding video that has had audio sync problems on all share formats (iDVD, mp4, and last of all iTunes). The project label now carries signal with yellow triangled exclamation “i tunes out of date”.
    To solve the sync problem I’m following advice and detaching sound from all of the 100 or so short clips.  This operation has been stalled by the spinning ball. Shut down restart has not helped.
    The Project is mounted from Iomega and superspeed ext hd connected to imovie09 on macosx 10.5.8.
    What to do to resume repairs to the audio sync problem and so successfully share for youtube upload?

  • How to stop the spinning  ball after trying to install 10.7.3?How

    How to stop the spinning ball after trying to install V10.7.3?

    Boot from your recovery partition by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
    When the Recovery desktop appears, reinstall the Mac OS. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac didn’t ship with Lion, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.

  • I have owned my MacBook Pro for several months.  Initially, I did not have any problems.  Now I have a problem with Yahoo Mail.  I can open my account, but when I try to get at my mail, 2 out of 3 times I get the spinning ball that never stops.  Now what?

    I have owned my MacBook Pro for several months without having any problems with it. Recently I am having trouble with my Yahoo Mail.  I can open it fine, but 2 out of 3 times when I try to actually open a message, the spinning ball comes on the screen and does not stop. Sometimes, I can log out or force quit and come back in to my account and use it.  Other times, I run into the same problem.  Any suggestions?

    No, your Yahoo account is not in iCloud (which only handles iCloud mail), it is in Yahoo, and the Yahoo mail account is on your iPad.
    But the MacBook Pro will have none of it! I write this question now as I fear that I will be totally demented very soon and unable to formulate my thoughts clearly!
    Get the correct settings for your account from Yahoo and set it up manually.
    By the way, I also find the "password" issue problematical. It seems Apple want my Apple password rather than my eMail password. All very confusing.
    That would depend on what you are trying to do.

  • How do you fix the spinning ball of death?

    I have a Macbook Pro 13 mid 2009. It passes the Apple Hardware Test with no errors/problems. Every time I run the disk utility, I get permission errors. I fix them and they come back again. I did a clean install of OS X 10.8.4, but the problem is still there. Could it be a bad hard drive cable? bad hard drive? memory? If so, how do you test this since it passed the Apple Hardware Test?

    I jumped the gun. The spinning ball of death is back. Here is the console dump for when the problem occurred.

  • How do I stop the "Spinning Wheel?!?!" (screenshot included)

    I have ran into this many times and thought it was just a glitch with my machine, But was surprised to see that it is still doing it on my brand new macbook that I set up fresh.
    Whenever I have iMoive open and plug in an SD card, Flash drive, etc, I will get this on my desktop:
    (the colored thing in the background is my desktop wallpaper)
    And it does NOT go away unless I quit iMovie completely!
    Is there anyway to fix this?

    I had maybe same problem. I had the spinning red rainbow ball with imovie during export to imovie. Stopped exporting the last two minutes, but other projects worked fine to export. I had delete the project the stopped in the last two minutes and import again, what a pain. Now it works fine. Good luck...

  • HOW DO YOU STOP THE SPINNING WHEEL OF DEATH?

    How do you eliminate the Wheele of Death?  I have a Mac mini. OS X 10.9.2?

    This is the MacBook Pro forum, neither the Mac mini forum nor the Mavericks forum.
    If I were you, I would post on the Mavericks forum -> https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/os_x_mavericks.

  • How do we stop the flame wars that diminish this forum?

    Some Internet venues have moderators whose job it is to monitor and remove defamatory content or content inappropriate to the subject.
    Wikipedia, for example, lets anyone update their content, but vandals are cleaned up after and locked out.
    The OTN database forums seem to have gotten several flame wars lately that do not contribute to the dissemination of information or knowledge germane the forum.
    Does/should OTN forums have moderators who perform this housekeeping chore?

    Surely, when someone clicks the little yellow triangle next to a post, your application code is smart enough to make a note of the unique ID of the post being complained about?
    I don't quite see why any particular "combing" effort is needed. Someone complains about post ID 3746238746283. You read the words of that post. If you think they violate the terms & conditions, you delete post 3746238746283. Job done. The whole point was that you shouldn't be "combing through" threads at all, on the lookout for abuse that someone might have overlooked in their rush to complain, but simply responding to specific complaints about specific posts. And if you get fed up at a thread generating a whole lot of complaints, you simply lock the thread from any further additions.
    Incidentally, I don't recall seeing in the terms and conditions that "posts have to be on-topic", only that they must not defame, harass or annoy or be a form of advertising, or a solicitation to join a commercial online or offline service. So why did you lock a perfectly civil thread in which no-one was being annoyed, defamed, harassed, solicited or advertised to about the legalities of libel in this forum? Suddenly, you appear to have made "extra-curricular-ness" a test all on its own. Unfair, I'd have said. Indeed, a year ago you were writing that "one person's nourishment is another person's poison" and that you were very much "in the "nourishment" category", firmly of the opinion "the beauty of a blog is that it can be a vehicle for creative self-expression, in which the reader learns something about the writer - not just dry facts." What is sauce for a blog, I'd have said, ought to be sauce for a forum.

  • How do I stop the pop-ups that happen every 5 minutes since I updated firefox P.S. firefox is the one that they come from

    normally the firefox browser stops all pop-ups because of the add blocker I have but lately videos and even a new window will pop-up and It will usually play or advertise so I installed another add blocker and they still get thru so the only way they can get thru is ether they are well programed adds or firefox can't block them a/o supports these pop-ups themselves some info would be nice

    Hi Hadosan
    Please find an article on pop-blocker in the link below.
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/pop-blocker-settings-exceptions-troubleshooting
    There is a section on pop-up not being block, try it and hope it solve your problem.
    Cheers

    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
    If you don't want to see your son's messages, first open the Messages app (you can find it on Dock). Then, after opening it, go to the Messages menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > Accounts, and select the "iMessage" account. Finally, under "Send & Receive", you will see different phone numbers and mail addresses, so untick your son's phone number, and you won't receive more messages from him

    Hi,
    You can check the flash help for that
    here is the small example for that
    import mx.transitions.Tween;
    var myTween:Tween = new Tween(img1_mc, "_y", mx.transitions.easing.Strong.easeOut,0, Stage.height, 50, false);
    var theDuration:Number = myTween.duration;
    trace(theDuration);
