How do I stop the upgrade to Yosemite and return to Mavricks

I want to stop the process so I can move files off the mac and preform a clean install.

I contacted apple and for a small fee ($20) they helped me.
First I was told to get the mac into safe mode by holding the SHIFT key until the Apple logo appeared with the progress bar underneath. Once in safe mode I checked to see if I was in Yosemite or not (I was in Yosemite) no turning back now.
I then was instructed to restart the mac and see if it will load up properly. It did not.
I was then instructed to power down and power up holding the command +R buttons until the Apple logo appeared with the progress bar underneath to open the disk utility.. We went through disk verify and disk repair. After that I went back to the disk utility window and started OS reinstall.
Currently the Yosemite downloading screen is open with 3 hours to go.

This isn't the fault of firefox. Firefox is a web browser, not your email provider. I'd suggest contacting them (whoever you use, gmail, yahoo, etc.) and asking for help.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Here the way to do it, for both, or for only one Go into your settings, Messages and turn on iMessage. It will then send messages that are iMessages to both your iPad and iPhone. You can also turn off this feature on the iPad if you do not want to receive messages on the iPad.

If you made a Time Machine backup or bootable clone of Snow Leopard, restore it onto a blank partition or drive. If not, insert a Mac OS X install DVD, restart with the C or Option key held down, and install it onto a blank partition or drive.
To erase or repartition the internal drive, use the Disk Utility, which is accessible from the Utilities folder(choose it from the Finder's Go menu) or when booted to the DVD or recovery partition.

If you are printing via a Windows shared printer and it is the Windows user account that you are being prompted for then you can save this in the Keychain, as shown below.
