How do I stop the WIFI on the Mac Pro notebook when I am home and running on the wire?

I'm a newbie in the Apple world so am seeking help. I'm sure the answer is staring me in the face. When I'm home I prefer to run on the wire lan but notice that the wifi network is still actively polling. How do I temporarily disable the wifi?

Welcome to the wide world of Apple users!
Assuming you're using a fairly recent version of Mac OSX, you can click on the cone-shaped icon on the top right corner of your desktop. It should be next to the battery indicator icon. Click on it and choose "Turn AirPort Off." This simply turns off wifi connections for the computer until you turn it on again, but doesn't affect any settings.
Alternatively, you can go to the Apple logo on the top left side of your screen and click on System Preferences. This brings up the System Preferences window. In the Internet & Wireless pane, click on Network (they grey globe) then click on the "Turn AirPort Off" button.

i use Firefox 22.0 on windows 7
it's about one week that it ask for "Network Connections" when i'm offline and disconnected from the internet even when i don't open a save page and just opening Firefox with a blank page

Did you check the network setting?
Sounds that you have set to connect automatically when a connection is not available.

This is cause by the way the App Store checks to see if an application is installed on your system.
Basically when an app is installed it is in the Applications folder and this is where the MAS looks for them. So it looks at your purchase history for the apps you bought and looks in the Applications folder to see if they are installed. If an app is in your purchase history but not in the Applications folder the MAS says you need to install it.
For normal apps this works fine but the OS doesn;t install into the Applications folder. So the MAS sees you have Mountain Lion in your purchase history but it's not in the Applications folder and so it says you need to download it.
Hopefully one of these days Apple wil fix this.

The home button is the main button off the screen - where is the sleep button? When I hit home I only see the lock slider (its black) and a button that has a flower on it that pulls up photos we took that are on the ipad. Thanks for your help!

MAC Pro first generation PCIe Slots 1 and 2: are the y equal?

I have an X1900 XT card and I wanna replace the stock GPU cooler with an off-market one which needs some space below the card as well as above it.
I am a bit confused on the informatin I get around about the PCIe slots on Mac Pro (Dual dual cores 3.0GHz). I read both slots one and two support X16 lane where at another place, I read slot two can only supports upto X8. So I am wondering which is the case? Does slot two provides the very same x16 performance as slot one for this video card?

Your first gen Mac Pro has slots in this default config:
slot 4 (top) = 8 lane
slot 3 = 1 lane
slot 2 = 1 lane
slot 1 = 16 lane
You can change the lane speeds to some extent using the Expansion Slot Utility but only slot 1 runs as 16 lane.
We tested the X1900 XT in 16 lane, 8 lane and 4 lane slots. There's a slight slowdown in an 8 lane slot. A 4 lane or 1 lane slot will cause a significant slowdown. Slot 1 is the best place to put your graphics card if you want maximum speed.

The "right click" is a function of the OS and those keyboard commands do not work on the iPad at all with the built in virtual keyboard. I don't use an external keyboard - so I cannot attest to the possibility of that working - but there are no keyboard shortcuts with the iPad keyboard.

6) If you wish to change all files of this type to open with this application in future, make sure the "change all" button is selected.

This problem started several months ago. I have tried typing more slowly and typing faster; neither help.
It now takes me about four attempts to complete a title of about twelve characters, achieving about three characters on each attempt.
I am running iPhoto 9.4.3 on OS X 10.8.3 on a 2.93 GHz Intel Quad-Core i7 iMac with 12 GB of DDR3 memory.

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to prevent the automatic downloading of the SD version when you buy an HD show.
You can, if you wish, suggest that the ability to prevent the SD version from downloading through the iTunes feedback page. But since the SD version is needed for use on iPods and there at least at present is no mechanism for someone to download the SD version at a later time should they decide they need it, Apple may just continue to force the downloading of both versions. If they get enough feedback on the issue, though, they may figure something out.

How can I stop my Droid Razr-M from turning on when i plug in the charger? I can turn it off and even wait a few minutes before plugging it in to the charger and it still turns on immediately when plugged in. If I turn it off after plugging in the charger, it turns back on right away too.

I know its frustrating to have your phone powered on when dharger brazzco. Have you tried to to plug the phone into the charger then power the phone down? Are you u sing the wall charger or USB charger? Is the phone damaged? Keep us posted.
