I started receiving way too many contact requests from unknown men, usually all military, Which I have been consistently blocking, but I want to know if my account has been jacked or what is going on and how to stop this, please. Anyone???

just some clarifications changing your privacy settings will only prevent unwanted calls and/or IMs from people who are not in your contact list. It will not prevent other users, both legitimate and potential scammers/spammers, from sending your contact requests.

The Mail app doesn't have a spam filter, any filtering that you want to do needs to be done before it reaches the iPad - if you log into your account via a browser, does your email provider have any settings/options that you can enable ?

This isn't due to malware. There is no known malware capable of infecting an iPad that has not been jailbroken (ie, hacked to allow apps from outside the App Store).
As lizdance40 says, your Hotmail account has been hacked remotely. Change the password immediately. Hotmail accounts are popular targets, but as long as you choose a good password, and make sure that password is not the same as a password you use with any other account, you should be safe.
I disagree with lizdance40's statement that you have to abandon the account and create a new e-mail address. If a hacker is able to get back in even after changing the password, the problem is not with the account itself. There's another vulnerability of some kind somewhere. Perhaps the account allows hackers to leave a "back door" to get back in (such as with GMail's delegation feature), in which case any such feature needs to be reviewed and have settings changed. Perhaps you are checking mail in an insecure manner while on an insecure network (ie, a wireless network that requires no password). Perhaps you are using a password on multiple accounts, and a different account has been compromised. Perhaps a hacker has used knowledge gained by prior access to your account to achieve "social hacking" (ie, convincing a tech to give him access because he has "forgotten the password"). There are many scenarios, but there's no good reason to abandon the account entirely.

Check with your email provider to see what options they offer to deal with spam. If you are using apple mail, turn on the junk mail filter in the settings (Mail, preferences).

Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.

Thanks for the trouble to reply. this problem only happens with Pages and Numbers for me. i have done all the tricks like restarting. the main problem is that the working space is not 'stable' - it has no 'ends' even on full screen. in Numbers - UNLESS I SET IT TO 25% VIEW (which is way too small) - the actual total 'work space' is way off the grid - so every time i move the mouse the table i am working on zooms off to left or right, at the slightest touch. i have set my mouse to no gestures!
the thing is this did not happen before the latest upgrades.

Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app completely : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

In terms of a refund, what does it say on the app's description page in the store (a lot say that refunds aren't given) ? But in terms of my initial query; thanks for responding. But no, this is NOT the cause of the problem. I have auto sync and sync over wifi activated, but have also selected manually manage music and videos. Plus, all of my music and videos are on my macbook, absolutely all of it, so if it my phone was syncing with my macbook everything would still be on the phone. Life would be peachy if my phone jsut copied everything that was on my macbook, but unfortuantely it keeps deleting tracks for no apparent reason.
Any thoughts greatly welcomed, because at the moment i can only conclude that my iphone is crap.
