How do I store oracle forms and reports in the database
Hi !!
Is there a way I can store the forms and reports runtime in the
oracle database ??
We are working on forms 5.0, reports 3.0
oracle 8.0.5.0.0 on HP-Unix
Can someone guide me step by step from storing the forms to
accessing it back on the desktop.
Thanks in advance,

You need SMB compatible names.. for both TC and if you use wireless then wireless.. short, no spaces, pure alphanumeric.
Go to the disk file sharing page.. turn on guest account.. read and write access.
Give it the right workgroup .. usually WORKGROUP
Load bonjour for windows onto the windows machine.. that should be included with the airport utility for windows.

[ANN] Run Oracle Forms and Reports on the Web for $5,000 only
A new time limited price promotion for customers looking to upgrade Oracle Forms to the Web is now offered.
Get a restricted license to use Oracle9iAS Forms Services and Oracle9iAS Reports Services only for $5,000 per CPU (or $100 per named user).
Or you can get 25% discount on the full Oracle9iAS Enterprise Edition.
Interested?
visit http://www.oracle.com/tools/deals for more details.the first step to give only 9i form server and report server(or services, a buzz word) only is good. But the key issue to adopt the limited 9iAS is whether it must use Oracle LDAP SSO server, if so, then it will have trouble to buy it as it will force to buy full 9ias again.
E.G., the Chrysler corporate standard is to Websphere, then it prohibits our team to buy another set of similar app. server. Now we like the limited form/report server edition, but before we go ahead to apply for permission to buy, we must also answer if it will work with no Oracle LDAP SSO etc.
Will the 9.0.4 limited edition work with non-oracle LDAP/SSO ? Or generally, will 9.0.4 be open enough to work with other application server/infrastructure? -
Running oracle forms and reports on the web
can any one help me out....
I have oracle 9i database as back end and oracle forms & reports 6i which was running on client server architecture. Now i want to deploy all my forms on web so that it runs on internet explorer . For all these things to happen what all upgradation i need to do.... . Do i need to upgrade my back end database and with what i have to replace my oracle forms 6i. pls tell in detail. I am using windows XP as my operating system and my disk space is 160GB and RAM is 1GB.The process of upgrading Forms to the web can be found here: otn.oracle.com/formsupgrade.
You will also need to confirm the version you are upgrading to supports the database version - if you have support from Oracle you can check this out on metalink.oracle.com (and navigate to certifications).
Of course, the documentation is also a good place to start - otn.oracle.com/products/forms and navigate to documentation. -

Hi all please help me,
My system is rhel 3 (update 6). My question is how can i install Oracle form and report 6i on my machine, which is already have database 10g R2? I known i have to create two separate ORACLE_HOME. Since i already had database 10g R2, can i just go head install Oracle form and report 6i on separate ORACLE_HOME? or i need to remove database 10g R2 first, and then install Oracle form and report 6i
Thanks in advances<< Why Forms/Reports 6i and not something later, BTW? >>
Presumably he has to support a client/server application. They haven't all disappeared overnight, despite what Oracle tell everyone. -

VimalHello Frank,
for development, you need to install Oracle Developer
Suite 10g. This includes Forms and Reports.this topic interests me too, because I've downloaded Developer Suite and Database (both for 10g) from Oracle website, installed them, but I couldn't connect to a database.
What should be done for me to create a database link and be able to connect locally, in my personal Desktop computer? (Not to a server)
Once it was told me here that I should download 10g Database - I did it, and installed it, but it didn't work. Later, some of my job partners said I should install them in a sequence - that is, 1st the Developer, and 2nd the Database. But it has failed too. And I don't know how to configure a database connection.

How do you extract SQL from Oracle Forms and Reports files?
I am developing an "as is" data model for a government client for a 14 year old system that has three databases, 20 schemas, over 1500 tables, and over 23,000 columns. Needless to say, I do not plan to perform a manual mapping of data to screens and reports.
Most of the system has been developed in Oracle Forms and Reports. I am trying to map the live tables and columns to forms and reports.
The process here has been to save the forms and reports files as .fmb and .rdf files. The client does not have an available copy of Oracle Designer, which I understand could be used to extract the SQL.
Is there a utility somewhere that can parse the .fmb and .rdf files to extract the SQL?
Thanks,
Jim GearingJim,
I don't know of any utility that will do this. You can convert and save each fmb as a fmt so you can view/search the contents , but I don't recommend that approach.
On the other hand, you download a copy of Oracle Designer:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/index.html
It usually is included with Oracle Forms and Reports. -

Thanks.Hi,
There is no such process of rollback the patchset.

The place where i am working has apps installed in IBM AIX server .. so how do i access Apps
or can i access Apps via TOAD.You will have to access the server using ftp to download the pll files to your local machine. TOAD can be used to access the database objects only (not the physical application files).

$ ./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs
then you shouldn't have big problems. -
Can i start oracle forms and reports 11g services in linux with opmnctl ?
Hi:
I am so confused with weblogic and forms 11g that i don't know nothing at all looll :)
Someone told me that to start oracle forms i need to this
[oracle@biz ~]$./startManagedWebLogic.sh WLS_FORMS
This scripts asks for a password and that's annoying... and it just stays waiting there.. i mean does not stay running in background... So if i finish my ssh session it will shutdown...
Today at oracle support they told me that i still can start forms with OPMN using opmnctl as we use to do in 10g... Is this possible? Does anyone here have a startup script for forms and reports 11g under linux? How do you guys start forms and reports?
Regards
RicardoHi Ricardo,
Someone told me that to start oracle forms i need to this
[oracle@biz ~]$./startManagedWebLogic.sh WLS_FORMS
This scripts asks for a password and that's annoying... and it just stays waiting there.. i mean does not stay running in background... So if i finish my ssh session it will shutdown...After starting WLS_FORMS, you can very well send it to background.
Press Ctrl+Z and then type bg it will move it to background

with just opmnctl we cant run Forms I believe, we need to have WLS_FORMS also running ..
Forms requires ohs or wc to be up and running along with WLS_FORMS , thats is what is my understanding .. -
Help me install oracle form and report 9.0.4 on red hat AS 4 x86
i installed oracle database 10.0.2 on my red hat AS 4 x86 in /u01/app/oracle/product/10.0.2/db_1. Now i want to install oracle form and report 9.0.4 on my computer in /u02/app/oracle/product/9.0.4
The oracle installer checks for required packages. It will produce the following list of missing packeges:
Package gcc-3.2.3-20 is missing

Package compat-libstdc++-devel-7.3-2.96.122 is missing
Package setarch-1.3-1 is missing
Package sysstat-4.0.7 is missing
Package gnome-libs-1.4.1.2.90-34.1 is missing
Package libstdc++-3.2.3 is missing
Package compat-libstdc++-devel-7.3-2.96.122 is missing
Package compat-glibc-7.x-2.2.4.32.5 is missingbut i installed newer versions of them. so can i continue to install without missing packeges??? and how to install missing packages because they conflict with packages i installed.
i tried to continue installation without missing packages and have some errors:

Someone help me!!!
Thanks.The requirements for installing 10.2.0 and 9.0.4 on RHEL4 differ - 9.0.4 is based on older versioned RSFs and require linking against older compatibility libraries.
The OUI may incorrectly complain if later versions of the required/pre-requisite packages really are installed - this should not be a problem functionally, however.
The latter errors you report, however (make, relocation error, glibc/symbol), are symptomatic of trying to link with/against incompatible gcc/glibc versions. Try installing the following additional compatibility files (appropriate for your architecture);
- http://oss.oracle.com/projects/compat-oracle/dist/files/RedHat/compat-oracle-rhel4-1.0-5.i386.rpm
- http://oss.oracle.com/projects/compat-oracle/dist/files/RedHat/compat-libcwait-2.1-1.i386.rpm
If you have not already done so, I suggest you create and use (i.e. source) separate environment definition files when working with each product/version environment. For 9.0.4, ensure that you specify environment variable LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19 before installing 9.0.4 (or relinking).
If you have MetaLink access, refer also to Note.315832.1, Note.389811.1.

Is there any impact analysis tool for Oracle Forms and Reports
Hi All
We are curretly looking at tools available to do impact analysis in Oracle Forms and Reports. This is for the maintainance of a large Oracle application developed using forms and reports 10g. We use Oracle Designer but only to maintain the db structure and not for forms and reports generation. Our intension is to find out the impact of db model changes, stored procedure changes in Oracle Forms and Reports. Please suggest any tools that are currently used for this purpose.
I remember manually maintaining the CRUD matrix for Oracle Forms and Reports for maintainance purpose. CRUD matrix will have the list of all the tables which are affected by the module. But this is a manual activity and hence the responsibility is with the dev team to keep the document updated. Please suggest if there is any alternative to this way which can be more effecient and less error prone...
I also wonder how these are done in Oracle ERP? how the apps team in oracle is maintaining the forms and reports?
Thnaks in Advance
Mahesh MathewQuest (the makers of TOAD) have a tool called SQL Impact which gathers data from forms, reports, triggers, packages etc.
FormsMate is a simple, cheap alternative for comparing or searching in forms.
http://www.jockvale.ca/products.html
Alternatively, you can export forms to xml (with iff2xml90.bat) and reports to jsp (with rwconverter) and simply grep those and your sql scripts. There are grep tools for windows if you need.
