How do I stream Daily Show or NYT videos?

Thanks for reading and responding to this. I have an ipod touch and would like to be able to watch NYT videos and the Daily Show on it, streamed from the internet. How do I do this and what do I need to download-- or for some reason, is it not possible? With appreciation for any input, -Becca

Hi,
"The Daily Show" videos appear to be in Flash format, unfortunately this is not supported on Safari on the Touch at the moment. I don't know whether they can be found on YouTube, they maybe available there.

You can batch process a set of prepared slides from Full Edit (see image) using:
File >> Process Multiple Files
In the PMF dialog you can choose filename, date, or description (caption)
Make sure you choose a separate destination folder to your source folder so as tot to permanently overwrite your originals.

I don't know what AppleTV can handle as far as bit rate is concerned, but increase the bit rate as high as it will let you. You are taking DV which is 25Mb/s and compressing it. If you're making an H.264, you should get great results needing no more than 6Mb/s. Bear in mind, the higher the bit rate, the larger the file size.

I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:

In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.

You'll need to get it all onto one iTunes collection on your Mac Pro, then sync the devices to that. iTunes only lets you transfer purchases from a device, otherwise you have to use third party software.
I guess you could also look into getting iTunes Match.

I recently got apple tv but the photo stream only seems to show up those photos which I took in September and no others (ie. 20 out of around 100). Any ideas why the earlier photos on my photo stream in ipad don't show up on apple tv?

The Daily Show Multi-Pass: how does this work?

I subscribed to the Daily Show Multi-Pass. The store said it was busy and try again later. So I thought I'd do it later but meanwhile got an email saying I had the multi-pass and 9.99 has been deducted from my account!
The email has a link to view account preferences. It says that 2 of the 16 episodes have been downloaded - nothing has been downloaded (and only one show is currently available).
According to the email: "You will receive an email when future episodes of The Daily Show are available and the episodes will be downloaded automatically to the account listed above the next time you sign in to iTunes." What? When is that?
It would be great if this worked with RSS like podcasts instead of some mysterious download time.
Is this working for anyone?

Okay here's what you have to do: Go to the Music
Store, and click the button with your e-mail address
at the top right (below "browse"). Then click "Sign
out" in the popup. Then click where your e-mail
address used to be to sign in again. Your episode
will start downloading.
This is a stupid way for Apple to do it, but at least
it technically works so until they make it easier
this is what we're going to have to do every day.

Hmmm...when I did the above, it ran through the "Checking for purchases" before starting the download. So I wonder if doing the "Check for purchases..." selection under the Advanced menu would do the same thing without the hassle of logging out and in. I'll give it a try tomorrow...

How do other content providers show HD quality streams?

When I do most of my streams, I go composite video to an Osprey card, sending out 500k stream to 640x360 for 16:9 and it works.. but the video is not sharp. I suppose that's because my video source is composite.. but then I see other streaming providers sending content in player sizes larger than what I'm pushing, and it's nice and clear. So they're probably capturing in HD.. fine. But, how can they stream via flash in that size of content, with that kind of clarity and not eat up a ton of bandwidth??? What's the magic combination of components and FMLE settings that allow them to attain such quality? Inquiring minds wanna know...

To produce best quality using minimum bit rate, I would suggest you to get a quad-core machine at least and given the bit rate (bandwidth) experiment with different H.264 main profile levels. Lock the fps and size while experimenting. Try to keep input size and output size as close as possible. Use hardware level de-interlacing if required.
Regarding input types I can say that SDI is the Best followed by Component, S-video and Composite in that order.

You'll need to make sure you have the new black small AppleTV and not the original one.
If you do have the new one, you can make sure to do any of the software updates from the settings menu (I think.. I don't have one to reference).
It appears under the Internet tab and is very clearly on the list.

When i open a youtube video in firefox it immediately shows that whole video is streamed when it is yet to stream fully

I am using Firefox 3.6.13. When i open a youtube video in firefox it immediately shows that whole video is streamed (the progress bar shows red instead of grey). But the whole video is yet to be streamed. The information of how much is streamed becomes unavailable.
Listing 2 of the problems encountered because of this
1. Unable to estimate how much time I have to wait before the video is fully streamed
2. Cannot go forward or backward in the video in the streamed part.
(This problem does not occur in IE. I tried the link given below)

I've purchased 2 Daily Passes in the last month for the Daily Show and have been waiting for new episodes. Anyone know what the schedule is for new episodes to come on line?
It's bizarre that Apple doesn't have a que for iTines multipasses to show when the next episodes are scheduled to come online and how many are left in your pass.
This is a really horrible user experience.

I was wondering what was up with the daily show multi-pass, but I dont think this is very cool. I still want to purchase a multi-pass but it wont let me. I sign in with my account, and click on multi-pass for the daily show and it says

I then click OK, and it begins to refresh the page in itunes, however once refreshed (everything looks the same) it happens all over again, and it wont let me purchase a multi-pass.
