How do I subscribe to the Unwanted folder within Thunderbird?

For some reason my emails from people who are sending via gmail are arriving on my server but are landing in my inbox folder called "unwanted". For the life of me I cannot find this folder. The people who manage my website and my email told me this information and I am not technically savvy so this is greek to me. I want to be able to change the settings on the unwanted folder and be able to receive emails from gmail users.

Unwanted is not a Thunderbird folder. Maybe it is another gmail invention.
If you log into your account at gmail do you see this folder?
To subscribe to folders on an IMAP server go to the menu bar and select File-Subscribe.

Yes it sounds like you have a corrupted preference file.
The setting you make in individual programs get saved to a Preference file in your Users/Library/Preferences folder.
All you have to do is drag out the old file to the desktop, reboot and load the program and the preference file gets rebuilt without your preferences which you reset.
For your case I beleive the preference file is
    com.apple.desktop.plist

  • Using the iTunes folder within Music on PC; difference between "managed" and "referenced"

On my PC, I currently have all of my music within the Music folder (C:\Users\Stephen\Music) all split by artist into relevant folders.
There is also an iTunes folder within this Music folder, however only a small amount of music is within this folder (after doing some research, any album I ripped from my own CDs went into this folder directly).
I have since noted that there's a difference with how iTunes refers to the music within my Music folder as opposed to the iTunes folder within the Music folder ("referenced" as opposed to "managed").
Previously whenever I wanted to add any music to iTunes I would simply click "add folder to Library" under File. I haven't had the "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" option ticked.
    My questions are:
Should I have everything in the iTunes folder as listed above? Is there any benefit in arranging it this way?
If I make this change, should I also make sure I have the "copy files to iTunes Media folder" option ticked?
If there is a benefit in having my music "managed" by iTunes as opposed to just being "referenced", is it possible for me to just dump all of my music from \Stephen\Music\variousbands to Stephen\Music\iTunes\variousbands, without it screwing anything up within iTunes?
If I now want to move all my music to an external hard drive, will this effect anything? i.e. could I just move the whole \Stephen\Music folder to the external HDD and would this be fine? Or would I need to have it in the iTunes folder first and then move that folder across?
Many thanks in advance for any assistance. I just want to make sure I have the correct set up and not run into any problems when moving to my external HDD!

Yes, there is a benefit in having your iTunes library organized inside the iTunes Media folder.
If you place new content inside the iTunes Media folder before adding it to the library then the setting of the "Copy files..." option isn't important. Letting iTunes make copies of files added from outside the media folder leaves you with having to manage them later, or possibly leads to a situation where you end up importing them again leading to duplicates.
You can't (in general) move your files around without iTunes losing track of them. A special case exists when the files are inside the designated iTunes Media folder, which in turn is inside the iTunes folder that contains the library files. When the library is in this shape the entire iTunes folder and its subfolders can be moved as a unit between drives, or even computers, and iTunes won't lose track of the media. Having the library organized in this portable state, and backed up, should ensure you can migrate or restore your library when the need arises.
If you want to reorganize the library properly do the following:
Use the option File > Library > Organize Library... > Rearrange files in the folder "<Media Folder">, if not greyed out, then press OK.
    Close iTunes.
Copy the entire iTunes folder to the root of your chosen drive, e.g. to X:\iTunes, then delete the file X:\iTunes\iTunes Music Library.xml as this file will be redundant in the new layout.
Press down and hold shift as you click the icon to start iTunes. Keep holding until asked to choose or create a library.
If iTunes opens normally, close it and go back to step 4.
Click Choose and browse to the new copy of the library file, e.g. X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl.
Use the option File > Library > Organize Library... > Consolidate files and click OK. When the process is complete the iTunes folder and media files that were connected to iTunes on your original drive can be deleted. Though ideally not before you backup your library to another disk.

  • How can I subscribe to shared mail folder

    Hello,
I have added shared IMAP folder to my account on the mail server, but still can't see it on my MAC mail.
I can't see any shared folders to subscribtion list to subscribe to unlike having the same account on thunderbird-windows which I am able to see it perfectly.
How can I see the shared IMAP folder on MAC mail client too?
    Thanks.

The only hardware that's preventing me from upgrading to 10.8 "Mountain Lion" would be the fact that a Mid-2007 Mac mini doesn't have a separate graphics card...
...as all other hardware-components ar similar to the iMac Mid 2007... :
    - at least 2GB of PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM RAM
    - a 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo "Merom" processor
    - a WiFi-N compatible AirPort-card (I've upgraded the one in my Mac mini to an Atheros AR-9280...)
    - OSX 10.6.8 or later installed (I have OSX 10.7.5)
    - iPhoto 9.4
...so the only spec I not meeting hardware-wise is the fact that my Mac mini has a GMA950 shared graphics card...
but surely... that can not be the reason I can't subscribe to a Photo Stream...
why would that have anything to do with eachother ???!!!
[ I've even seen claims of tricked OSX 10.8 installers for the Mid-2007 Mac mini, so if that's my only option... ]

  • How do I get to the profile folder to change settings?

A spammer has taken control of my email. AT&T says I need to change my firefox profile settings but I can't find the folder. How do I get to the folder.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Last Thursday

Robert, if AT&T says that you need to change Firefox profile settings, you need not actually view the Profile folder. All you have to do is change the Firefox settings by clicking on '''Tools''' at the top of Firefox and then selecting '''Options'''. When you change the Firefox settings this way, they are automatically saved into your Profile folder.
In case you wish to reset your Firefox settings to what they were at the time Firefox was installed, please follow the instructions in this article: [[Resetting preferences]].
Anyway, just for your knowledge, you can view this article to find out how to locate your profile folder: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles#How_to_find_your_profile How to find your profile].

  • How to upload photos from the modified folder?

I'm modifying my photos in photoshop CS3(which now is no more an option to open my photos for editing from Iphoto, why?).
Once modified, they live in the modified folder in a folder I created, they are not visible in the menu located in the left side of IPhoto viewer.
So how am I uploading this photos on my .mac website.
    Please advice, thank you
    Caril

    Caril:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
I'm modifying my photos in photoshop CS3(which now is no more an option to open my photos for editing from Iphoto, why?).
That's because you're probably saving the edits incorrectly.
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
So to recover those edited photos from the Modified folder you'll need to open the library package like shown here. Then very carefully locate those files and copy them to the desktop. The reason I said copy is to make sure you don't accidently move the wrong file to the desktop and thus damage the library. If you're absolutely sure you have the correct edited file then you can move it to the desktop instead of copy. But do so at your own risk.
    Happy New Year
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How do I SUBSCRIBE to the FREE radio programs etc. on iTunes?

HI, everyone. A lot of programs on there are FREE, but unlike the BUY button, my FREE button is grey and not pressable. How do I subscribe and HOW much is it?
    THANKS

    Where are you looking?
The iTenes radio prgrams are not in the store and there is no Free button.
    Just listen to them.
    Are you talking of podcasts?
    Most are free.
You don't "download" podcasts the same way you do a song. You subscribe and iTunes will get them when they are updated.

  • How to make iphoto read the pictures folder?

I have thousands of pictures in subfolders in Pictures folder, and not iphoto library. How do I make iPhoto read all those images in those own subfolders? I DO NOT want iPhoto to copy all the images to another folder, as that makes the filmstrips things way too large (thousands per view) slowing iPhoto way down, and I already have all the pictures in the folders I want them in. Apple isn't that stupid, so of course there is a way for iphoto to simply read other folders and use that as a library instead of just copying all the pictures to another folder. So: How do I do this?

But organizers really and truly should be able to start with existing folders and work from there.
We are dealing with the application that is here, not the one you think should be.
I tried dragging folders into iPhoto, but it just said it couldn't import the pictures.
Where are the photos? You've been saying they are in the Pictures folder. Are they in the iPhoto Library Folder? iPhoto will not import from the iPhoto Library Folder - a sensible protection against duplication. If the pics are in the iPhoto Library Folder move them outside and then import. If they are not in the iPhoto Library Folder can you give me details of any error messages you are getting, or what exactly you can see in the iPhoto Window.
Importing photos would just put everything into folders by year.
    ? Where would this happen?
Is there some way for Front Row to read something other than an iPhoto library please?
Not as far as I know. But you could post on the Front Row forum.
    Regards
    TD

  • Mail goes to BULK folder , how to send it to the INBOX folder

When I try to send mail throgh the java mail concept it is going to the bulk folder , my requirment is to send the mail to the inbox , is anything i have to set to send the mail to the inbox.
    Thanx in advance
    Have a nice day.

I think its nothing to do with java mail api, it the mail service provider which filter the incoming mail and thinks that it is a junk mail adding it to the bulk folder. If you can open the email and mark the email through which u are sending mails as not junk, then the future email throug this address will be delivered into inbox.

  • How do I return to the same folder in Mavericks?

Since I've upgraded to Mavericks, my apps always go back to the top level when I open a document. For example, let's say I want to open a document called SAMPLE FILE.  I go to the file menu, select OPEN and then navigate thru the directory to find the file I want...
HD > Clients > Documents > SAMPLE FILE
Now I want to open a second file - I go to the file menu, select OPEN and instead of returning to the "Documents" folder where my SAMPLE FILE was just found - it puts me back at the top of the directory...
    HD >
... and I have to dig thru all the folders again to return to where I just was.
In my previous system configurations (going back as far as I remember) - the default was to return to the same folder. Or maybe I always set the preferences that way - I honestly don't remember. But now I've searched all over for it and can't find it. Anyone know where to find it? Or has it been eliminated in Mavericks? I can't imagine Apple would do that.
Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • How to chose or change the production folder thumbnails ?

There is a way to assigne a specific thumbnails for a production folder ?

    Hi
There is a way to generate a specific clip for the Thumb nail of a project, that is very simple. The only trick is that you have to do it when you first put something into the project. I.e. Get at still pic of what you would like the thumb nail to be and add this first to the production folder. This is only a work around and yes it would be good if this thumb nail could be changed after the project is created. It is however possible to find this thumbnail in the "Proxies.bundle" using show contents and change it. But I would be careful to create a thumbnail of the same specs as the original. Whilst I have discovered the thumb nail source file, I have not tried it myself. To fix my thumb nails I created a new projects with the same name and dragged in the desire pic first then dragged across the rest of the original media.

  • What's the deal with the Applications folder within the User folder?

In my user folder (the one with my name) there's another Applications folder filled with .cab files that are all dated, and some have "Audio" or "ACT" or some weird naming in the middle. Some examples of what they're called are: Nov2008_XACT_x64.cab ; Oct2005_xinput_x64.cab ; OCT2006_d3dx9_31_x64.cab ; Nov2008_XAudio_x64.cab
    1) What are .cab files?
    2) Why are they there, did an external program add them or something?
    3) Can I delete them?
Thanks for your help, it's always been bugging me having this folder filled with files that (seemingly) do nothing.

    Paul --
    They're files from Word.
    If it were my Mac, I'd trash them. Here's what I found on them similar to what WZZZ found for you;
    Opening the CAB
You will download a file whose name consists entirely of a number and which has the extension .cab.  A .cab is a Microsoft “cabinet” file: essentially it’s a Zipped folder structure with the ability to store longer file names.
Depending on your version of Mac OS, the built-in Zip utility may not be able to open it, but  there are programs that can.  If you are on a Power PC-version Mac (A G3 or a G4 or a G5...) then Stuffit Expander will do the trick.  If you have an Intel-processor Mac, Stuffit has a bug that may prevent it.  Only one way to find out...
If your browser is correctly set up, it will leave the file in your Downloads folder with a subfolder above it containing the unpacked content.
If you can’t find it, start Stuffit and drag the .cab onto it.
Stuffit will either issue an error message, or it will leave a folder containing the template in the same folder as the .cab file.  If you get an "Error 17540" from Stuffit, that means "Can't understand the format" and the extracted template file will not be useable.

  • How can I get back the title bar in Thunderbird 38?

The title bar can be turned on and off in Firefox. In the current version of Thunderbird (31), the title bar is present by default and there is no option to turn it off. In the beta version (38), there is no title bar by default… but I can't believe that there's no way to get it back. So, where is this setting? I can't find it.

I sure agree that the setting isn't easily discoverable, but that's too late for the 38.0 release given that string freezes went in effect already (the reason being that localizers have to translate all UI elements for their respective language).
The respective [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=814571 bug report] has been up for more than two years, but thus far not much progress in terms of a solution acceptable by the developers. I don't know if the extension proposed in the last comment was ever developed and posted.
